You did it as a family so that's what matters. How you chose to spend that time with those you care about doesn't matter.

I just read an article on one of the local malls here doing the same thing. I speculate more and more of them will do the same.

Thats always a good thing, I think things will pick up here even more as people start to think about the holiday even more and the big ad's get closer.

From the reviews I saw on Amazon they seem mostly positive, complaints I saw centered around the software on it not the hardware itself, some people talking about freezing and low battery life. If it's only a software issue then they should be able to solve that fairly easy. Not a ton of reviews though, I'm not sure how long they have been out though.

Ya they aren't cheap. We have discussed upgrading ours to one of the higher end ones with the larger bowl and the bowl lift mechanism on BF when Kohl's has their sales on them. If we do we will send our old one to my FIL, he bakes a lot now that he's retired and would really enjoy it. Just haven't been able to convince ourselves to lay out that much money lol.

Most of them will be in EARLY Friday to prepare for store opening and those orders will most likely be pulled at that time.

I have found at some of the local Flea Market type places (usually larger ones) you will usually find someone who sells sports memorabilia and they often hook you up with those sort of things. Down side there is you aren't likely to get a discount. Always an option if you are in a jam though.

We are most likely doing ones with some cooking/cookie supplies. I started making my own Vanilla Extract. It's not SUPER cheap but I think I'm in about $8-$9 for an 8.5oz bottle of it. SOOOOOOO much better than the stuff you buy in the stores. I just ordered a few more bottles so I will be making more very shortly. Takes 8 weeks of care before it's ready.

OUCH, might as well just get the normal one at that point.

I think we will be giving these a try this year.

I read somewhere that Target had pre-orders at some point but they went really quickly. It's set to be released on 11/11 I think so if it's going to happen it will happen soon. I know Best Buy has it on their site and you can sign up to be notified when it's available. -
I pulled this recipe from the people who make my smoker. I'm going to try it out here very shortly to see how it comes out. If it's really good then I'll smoke this version instead of the one I did last year which used a citrus brine. Cider Brined Smoked Turkey Breast: 6 cups apple cider 2 cloves garlic, smashed 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp allspice 1/3 cup kosher salt 3 bay leaves 4 cups ice water 1 turkey breast 1/2 cup plus two tbsp unsalted butter, softened Favorite RubPreparation Brine: Combine 4 cups of the apple cider, garlic cloves, brown sugar, allspice, salt, and bay leaves in a large pot. Simmer on stove top for 5 minutes, stirring often. Take off stove top and add in the ice water. Place turkey in the brine and add water as needed until the turkey is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Cider glaze: Boil the remaining 2 cups of apple cider in a saucepan until reduced to 1/4 cup, about 15 minutes. Whisk in butter. Cool completely. Note: The glaze can be prepared the night before when you make the brine. After turkey has brined overnight, drain turkey and rinse. Using your fingers, take two tablespoons of the softened butter and smear it under the skin of the breast. Lightly season the turkey breast with the Rub. Start the Smoker, and bring up to 325 degrees F. Cook turkey until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (about 3-4 hrs). After the first 20 minutes of cooking, brush turkey with the cider glaze. If the breast starts to get too dark, cover it with foil. Let stand 30 minutes, slice and serve.

That's awesome and I have to admit more than I thought would be on it. Now if we can get some BIG names on there it would be even better.

I have a feeling now that things are starting to come out it will only get busier here.

There were some good deals last year on them. I ended up getting an Apple Watch for my wife (we have iPhones so it goes with it). She loves it, I had bought her a FitBit which she used until it started making her break out. She says she gets a lot more use out of the smart watch though.

That's crazy. Not quite that cold here yet. Ya I lived in FL for 18 years. No snow there lol

What do you think will be the "hot" items this year?

Does that mean they are going to have Fire Sales to get rid of them? I'm surprised Amazon hasn't sued them yet, I mean they had the Amazon Fire before Samsung came around with this one. -

Which one? The new mini one with built in games or the one to replace the Wii U? -
It's on now I love the first release. Sort of like the first snowfall of the year you know more is yet to come.
-
I've noticed the prices at the one by us that's closing aren't all that great. Few good deals here and there but nothing we have been floored by.
-
I have not been there on Thursday but have been in them on BF before. I know normal parts of the year it's like Home Depot lately. Impossible to find someone who works there. Then when you do find someone they seem to know nothing about what you need. Ya when I was living in FL we got spoiled by the nice weather while out shopping. Would need a jacket some days then by 7am-8am I was removing layers since it was now hot out lol. Here in MI it's COLD out. We make sure to take a good thermos of hot chocolate or coffee with us.

Honestly more than getting your dollar I think it's going to come down to that it's costing them more to be open than it is to just wait until 5am on Friday to open with the rest of them. K-Mart has been open on Thursday for a long time, I don't go but people I know who have said it's just like any other day only 2 people working in the store (yes I know this is an exaggeration) so it's not like it cost's them a whole lot and with the way they are heading this could end up being their last holiday season closing left and right around here.

I'm 1080p until 16k tv's hit the market. Then I'm all over those (probably not but it will be time to replace my current group by then lol) Our TV purchase this year is only going to be in the 50"-60" range so no need for anything above 1080p for me. Not to mention none of the video sources I use support 4K anyway and I have no plans on replacing those anytime soon.

I'm already ready for post election coverage or other things lol.

Some people will always want to be out there no matter the day, more power to them. For some this is what they do on Thanksgiving. Myself and my family we all prefer to have a good meal, watch some football and just generally talk. After all that we tend to plot our Friday plans out and figure out who's going and who's watching kid's and so forth. I wish many of them would get back to the Friday just so I can get excited about getting a doorbuster again
