Support usually isn't much of an issue, cable modem isn't that expensive as long as you don't walk into BB and get it. Took me about 5 months of cable modem rental fee's for mine to pay itself off. As for the power surge yes that's a real threat but all my equipment sits on a line filtering sine wave battery backup so it's fairly isolated (ya been in IT for 25 years I'm a geek lol). As far as the router portion I've only found one cable co who's stuff I didn't consider garbage and that was Verizon FiOS. Their solution was actually pretty good equipment and when I got them the rental was free. When I went to upgrade to their newer stuff they wanted a monthly fee but the customer service rep gave me the model information for the newest one and told me I could get it on ebay very reasonable. It's all in what you want out of your equipment and what it get's used for. Myself it was under 12 months of rental fee's from the cable co to break even so it was a good deal and I normally don't wan't/need their support people they tend to just ask me if it's plugged in lol.

Well the internet wasn't a big thing back then. If you were into BBS's then it was most likely ALL over them. People talking about how they bounced or spun and it caught on fire.

Gamestop has the Star Ware and Uncharted bundles for $299 also. I think a lot of them still have bundles left around the $299 mark so you should be able to get one with no issues.

I wonder in store how they know who is in what household?

My personal opinion, is they need to worry more about others and less about what they get. Getting anything at all is a privilege not a given. They are grown adults and I'm assuming they have their own careers. I know when I want something I go to the store and buy it with the money I earned. Yes I purposely used I many times. I think at the end of the day you should do what YOU think it right and if that's getting the younger one's a little something extra then that's what should be done. No one should be sore or expect anything in this world they should be grateful for what they did get. I have younger siblings (much younger) and it doesn't bother me one bit that they get things I don't or didn't.

I don't really see it happening with the large stores being open. I think the thing that will keep it from happening is minimal sales for a hefty cost of being open. Not only will they have to pay employees (most likely a premium wage) but they also have the cost of operating the store. Yes I think some people would shop I just don't see the rates being high enough to make it finalcially viable. I also predict that if sales keep going as they did this year you will see less brick and mortar being open on Thanksgiving. Whats the need for it if you can get them to buy online where the costs are lower thus the profits higher. I won't do it for many of the same reasons I won't go on Thanksgiving, large portion of those being family. They have always been and always will be family holiday's for me.

No I wouldn't. Only thing I can remember going for on Christmas day was gas on a longer drive and even that was spotty to find at one time.

You would think the cheaper things are and the nicer out it is the more people would want to go out shopping. I think a lot more shopping was done online this year I do believe that a good portion of people would rather shop online than go into the stores on Thanksgiving. I was honestly surprised that someone bought the Radioshack assets and kept some open. I figured they might go the way of Compusa and Circuit City where someone buys them for a name and they become a shell of what they were. I know this year we shopped at a lot less places than we normally do, we actually bought a few things at K-Mart they had some decent deals BUT it took forever to check out which is one thing that drives me nuts with them.

Did you have to go in store to get the price match or did you get it to work online?
-
Can you just refuse delivery of it?

Don't know if anyone is still looking for the Apple Watch but I just got an email from Target with the $100 gift card available again now.

No problem glad I could help.

I picked up a few things online yesterday that were at the same prices as BF still. I got a couple of the Sonic Care Toothbrushes once I used the $5 off coupon that is on the page with them it put them a little lower. They also now have the full Rock Band for like $25 off if anyone is looking.

Yes they are out there. You can actually search for the one you have online and find them for sale. I would ask BrightHouse. I would also see if you're being charged for that rental every month. From a lot of research and also talking to a friend of mine who went from the 6121 to the 6141 he said his connection seemed to be a lot more stable under heavier loads. By stable I mean he had less transfer speed drops and such. My thoughts are there are upgrades in it's internal processors and such which allow for better stream processing.

I'm not sure if your cable co is like some others (not knowing who your provider is) but you can sometimes supply your own cable modem and get rid of that monthly fee. I have a Motorola Surfboard 6141 that I got off Amazon for like $45 or $50 (can't remember). I went with the 6141 as it supports higher speeds than the SB6121.

Sorry to hear that. We had a husky (passed away at 14) that would get them. Got to the point where we just kept the medicated liquid from the vet and would use it to flush his ears now and then on a suggestion from the vet. Seemed to help a LOT. Wasn't fun to see him suffer with those.

As I sit here looking at the bags for the stuff we bought in store and the boxes for things that we bought online it looks like from us the 3 big winners this year for our money were Target, Kohls and Amazon. Target we did both online and in store and Kohls was only online. After that it's Walmart and then KMart. I know I looked at some stuff on Best Buy but for the first time that I can remember for BF we bought NOTHING from them, nothing stuck out to me and the one thing I wanted I took the more money in a gift card than savings on the purchase route and got it from Target. Kohls we actually just bought a lot of house stuff for ourselves this year, had good deals on towels so we snagged a dozen or so towels. Got some floor mat's and a few other various things. Movies we ended up getting from Target and Walmart with 1 from KMart this year. Games ended up all online from Amazon who had good deals. Tried to get Rock Band 4 from Target but the system was messing up and I didn't have a chance to head back there.

One of my close friends has at least a few thousand into his, not sure what he really uses it for. He got it earlier this summer.
