  1. We could have one that starts and then ends 5 mins later going over the awesome Harbor Freight ad lol.
  2. I think as long as you get one of the larger vendors you will get reliable. Apple, Samsung, Amazon should all be very dependable.
  3. This thread made me start thinking about some of the old stores. Looks like some of them are making comebacks. Montgomery Ward was bought by Swiss Colony and is now an online retailer. Looks like someone bought Circuit City (not the Tiger Direct name stuff) and is trying to reopen retail locations with it.
  4. Hmmmm how do I go about getting that huge stack of Amazon cards all in one box? I like the beanie, don't really wear ball caps myself but when it gets cold here that would be great.
  5. Very cool, Sam's has actually become one of my favorite online shopping experiences for BF while I'm up checking for things to be online
  6. I miss Circuit City, used to love wandering around there and getting some great deals.
  7. I enjoy the tradition of doing it, it's more than just what we get or who we get it for. Part of the thrill used to be about getting the Door Busters but to be honest we won't go out on Thursday so we have come to the conclusion that we aren't going to get those anymore. Once we realized that and accepted it then the fun came back. Now we go to the stores we want and some times it's become more about getting the things we want and the thrill of the hunt so to speak, we sometimes have to walk around and dig through things to get what we want. We still go out for our meal part of the way through and when we get home we start wrapping. All in all it's different but we still really look forward to it.
  8. Wow I just looked on BB and the notify button is gone. All they have left is a button that says Coming Soon. Target is the same way now. Amazon has a button that says Email Me. If it wasn't Nintendo putting this out I would be skeptical. Since it's Nintendo themselves and they are kind of funny about hurting their image I would think it's going to be pretty decent.
  9. Honestly most everything we buy we end up checking Amazon to see if it's cheaper, if it is we just order and have it shipped.
  10. We have done it while out of town. Just get your plan ready and know where the stores are so you can plan your routes. If you get a chance wander through some of the stores before the big day just so you know the general layout of the store. More than anything just have fun
  11. Harbor Freight is also running a Tent Sale this weekend (at least all of the ones around here are) so you might be able to get an even better right now.
  12. You did it as a family so that's what matters. How you chose to spend that time with those you care about doesn't matter.
  13. I just read an article on one of the local malls here doing the same thing. I speculate more and more of them will do the same.
  14. Thats always a good thing, I think things will pick up here even more as people start to think about the holiday even more and the big ad's get closer.
  15. From the reviews I saw on Amazon they seem mostly positive, complaints I saw centered around the software on it not the hardware itself, some people talking about freezing and low battery life. If it's only a software issue then they should be able to solve that fairly easy. Not a ton of reviews though, I'm not sure how long they have been out though.
  16. Ya they aren't cheap. We have discussed upgrading ours to one of the higher end ones with the larger bowl and the bowl lift mechanism on BF when Kohl's has their sales on them. If we do we will send our old one to my FIL, he bakes a lot now that he's retired and would really enjoy it. Just haven't been able to convince ourselves to lay out that much money lol.
  17. Most of them will be in EARLY Friday to prepare for store opening and those orders will most likely be pulled at that time.
  18. I have found at some of the local Flea Market type places (usually larger ones) you will usually find someone who sells sports memorabilia and they often hook you up with those sort of things. Down side there is you aren't likely to get a discount. Always an option if you are in a jam though.

    Gift baskets

We are most likely doing ones with some cooking/cookie supplies. I started making my own Vanilla Extract. It's not SUPER cheap but I think I'm in about $8-$9 for an 8.5oz bottle of it. SOOOOOOO much better than the stuff you buy in the stores. I just ordered a few more bottles so I will be making more very shortly. Takes 8 weeks of care before it's ready.
  20. OUCH, might as well just get the normal one at that point.

    New Recipes Wanted

I think we will be giving these a try this year.
  22. I read somewhere that Target had pre-orders at some point but they went really quickly. It's set to be released on 11/11 I think so if it's going to happen it will happen soon. I know Best Buy has it on their site and you can sign up to be notified when it's available.

    New Recipes Wanted

I pulled this recipe from the people who make my smoker. I'm going to try it out here very shortly to see how it comes out. If it's really good then I'll smoke this version instead of the one I did last year which used a citrus brine. Cider Brined Smoked Turkey Breast: 6 cups apple cider 2 cloves garlic, smashed 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp allspice 1/3 cup kosher salt 3 bay leaves 4 cups ice water 1 turkey breast 1/2 cup plus two tbsp unsalted butter, softened Favorite RubPreparation Brine: Combine 4 cups of the apple cider, garlic cloves, brown sugar, allspice, salt, and bay leaves in a large pot. Simmer on stove top for 5 minutes, stirring often. Take off stove top and add in the ice water. Place turkey in the brine and add water as needed until the turkey is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Cider glaze: Boil the remaining 2 cups of apple cider in a saucepan until reduced to 1/4 cup, about 15 minutes. Whisk in butter. Cool completely. Note: The glaze can be prepared the night before when you make the brine. After turkey has brined overnight, drain turkey and rinse. Using your fingers, take two tablespoons of the softened butter and smear it under the skin of the breast. Lightly season the turkey breast with the Rub. Start the Smoker, and bring up to 325 degrees F. Cook turkey until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (about 3-4 hrs). After the first 20 minutes of cooking, brush turkey with the cider glaze. If the breast starts to get too dark, cover it with foil. Let stand 30 minutes, slice and serve.
  24. That's awesome and I have to admit more than I thought would be on it. Now if we can get some BIG names on there it would be even better.
