  1. Did you register your unit? Garmin does have a product repair department that you can send your unit to. I have had my Garmin since last Christmas and it works perfectly and my dh's is over a year old and is also working perfectly and both were refurbished units. I am a bit biased though - my mom, dad and brother all work for Garmin. I can ask them about the return process if you want, my dad and brother work in the return/refurb dept.
  2. There is tons of greed in this world. What do you have to say about the corporate greed that takes our hard earned money from us? What do you say about OPEC decreasing oil production because they don't like the drop in gas prices? Money might just be paper but we all need it to survive. The person in front of you got their earlier than you - period. If you want to make sure you get that item then be sure to get to the store earlier. You may call it greed but others call it capitalism which is what this country is based on. Heck stores buy the items they are selling for pennies on the dollar for what they are selling them for - are you writing those companies about their "greed"? Probably not because they are providing you a service in obtaining those products for you to purchase at your convenience. Well that is what the people are doing by getting to the store early. Providing a service to someone who can pay for it. FYI - I don't do it. I'm not interested in missing my turkey day to stand in line, however, if I wanted an item bad enough and I was still saving $$ then I would buy a ticket or pay someone to stand in line for me to get a ticket.
  3. We have a HUGE set up this year for Halloween in our yard and we actually have spent quite a bit of dough this year to construct it. We built 7 ten foot sections of "cemetery" fencing with pvc. We also have built 2 six foot pillars to flank the opening of our cemetery. We have over 15 tombstones - an oblisk - a pillar with a huge gargoyle. A 7+ foot scarecrow. I have pics I have taken which I need to download and then I will post them because I am quite proud of our yard. My dh put up a survelliance camera we bought at Aldi's this year. He has set it up to a vcr to tape each night so that way if we do get vandalized we will have it on tape and hopefully will know which kids in the neighborhood it was. I sugested chaining our boxer outside, LOL but she is an inside dog and couldn't take the chilly nights now but I know she would scare the poop out of someone coming into the yard because she hates anybody coming near her fence. We have had some problems during the last few Christmas seasons with vandalism so the camera will probably stay up permanently. It does help that my husband is a LP manager as he knows how to operate and set up all of that stuff.
  4. I think the discussion is about school bus drivers - that is what I am anyway. I think a lot of us in general give gifts to our regular service providers - by that I mean our mailman (if he is a regular) or our UPS driver, or our trash person, etc so it is great that you do that for your regular driver. I know that sub drivers at our bus lot don't expect gifts from any students because they don't have any regular students. To tell you the truth I don't really think any of "expect" gifts but I do know the subs understand the difference of their position and frankly they get paid more than us regular drivers anyway so they are happier, LOL.
  5. I am also a bus driver and have done the same route for 3 years now. I usually get about 3 gifts out of over 60 families that ride. It isn't really about the gifts - I would appreciate it if I just got a nice picture or card, LOL. I don't expect anything though and that makes it easier when I don't really get anything, LOL. I think all of you parents that do do something are great. I think most bus drivers LOVE sweets -that is why a lot of us are overweight, including me LOL. ANYTHING is really wonderful!
  6. The TRU we went to last year had a big checkout lane set up through the clothing section and it was cordoned off with toys along the way. It was impossible to get into the line without entering from the back and nobody would let you by them - so we couldn't do the one person in line while the other shops thing. However, I do think our line moved pretty fast and I did get everything I wanted so it was ok with me.
  7. Michael's has had those coupons for as long as I can remember so yes I think they will do it again this year. If I'm not mistaken I do know some items are excluded from the discount though (like the cricut).
  8. Thanks! The $15 off worked for me :)
  9. Our KMart line was HUGE on Thanksgiving last year. There had to be at least 150+ people in line when we got there. I can do the huge crowd waiting in line thing once a year on BF - not interested in doing that on Thanksgiving. I will probably take the ad over to Wal-Mart and PM whatever I can that I might be interested in.
  10. Last year during the summer clearance all of the toys were just in their respective places on the aisles. I remember just browsing and grabbing stuff from their spots. Our store's toy department doesn't have any free aisles to consolidate toys because the summer pools and accessories don't go on clearance until later than the regular toy clearance. This clearance is just so Target can make room for the new "Christmas" toys coming in.
  11. Yep that store had the most of the stores near me anyway. I do hate how crowded it gets there though. It gives me a headache trying to navigate around everyone. LOL about the globe. I had only seen one and with my memory I can't even remember if it was at that store or another. I am getting so bad - I am lucky if I can remember my own kids' names lately.
  12. I went to the Olathe Super Target this morning too - got there about 9:45. I was able to get the toys I wanted plus more. The one great thing I found was that this store marked the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Pokedex down. I know it was a marking error because yesterday when I checked that same item it scanned $39.99 which is the full price amount. I checked the DCPI on the scanner and sure enough it was different than the sticker DCPI (there is an older version of this which retails for $19.99). Anyway I put it back yesterday - but as fate would have it I found 2 today with the 75% stickers $4.94 I was a bit worried that they would scan full price but since both games had the stickers I was prepared to see if the cashier would honor the sticker price. Lo and behold I didn't even have to worry about it because they scanned up correct, YAY for me!! I got my dd a Rose Petal Cottage which I will hold for next Christmas. The Olathe ST also has the Dora dance mats which the other stores do not so if you are looking for one of those you should hit that store. I would have loved to find a globe for my ds8 but the only one I had seen on the shelf was gone by the time I got there.
  13. I knew I forgot something. I got my dd the cutest pair of winter clogs at the Stanley Target for $3.74. Very cute and she needed a pair of brown shoes so this worked perfectly!
  14. I was at the Olathe Super Target after driving this morning at about 9 am. The toys were all reshelved to the far east end of the toy dept and there were also some toys along the back wall behind those aisles. They were all still 30-50% off though. I didn't find any toys marked to 75% off. I stayed at the store until 10:30 and although there were a lot of employees with scanners nobody went into the toy dept while I was there. At that store I did find some toddler girls clothing for 75% off. I also found a salvaged christmas doodle toy which the cashier gave me for 25 cents. I headed over to the Stanley Target next to check because I think they go a little sooner than others around here. Their blue box Kool Toyz are 75% off - I got my dd the wild animal play set for $2.50 and I got the Holiday Express train for $3.50. I also bought a Bob the Builder Easy Link key set for 75% off (1.98). I saw that this store had the Elmo set at 75% off also. Most of the toys were marked 50% off though. I scanned a couple of things here and there but everything I scanned was coming up as the same price as the tag. I did find a few more items of clothing for my dd at 75% off. I also got a couple of 200 oz ALL detergents for 50% off - $3.98 each. I do love the 3x concentrated but for half price I decided I could lift the heavy bottle again :)
  15. My mom and I went to a smaller suburban city 24 hr Wal-Mart at 8 am. The guy in electronics said they only had 10 and there was a big crowd at midnight when they started selling them. They had a fistfight and the cops were called out. They are STILL very hard to find here in our metro area.
  16. I would still check your stores in regards to the bows, wrapping paper, and boxes. My dh read me the "rules" and what he said was all unopened packs of bows, wrapping paper, etc wouldn't be clearanced. The way they made it sound was that anything in the storeroom wouldn't be brought out to clearance but that the stuff on the sales floor would be included. He did say that no lights would be clearanced because they sell good during the season.
  17. My dh works for DG in Regional management and I had him look when you first posted the question and he said nothing was mentioned on the calendar - for sure not this last week. I will have him look again when they update the system information.
  18. One of my stores had 40% off select toys - I got a Lego Star Wars Sith Infiltrator for 40% off at $19.00. It is a limited edition and my son will love it for his birthday this Tuesday. There were other toys as well in the 40% off sale - you just had to look for the signs under the toys. Another Wal-Mart didn't have the 40% off it just had some random toys marked down some. I have to agree the Wal-Mart's in my area don't really mark down very much. I think a lot depends on how busy they are. There is a Wal-Mart near me that is PACKED most of the time. It is the only Wal-Mart in our little suburban area for at least 15 miles so everybody here in Olathe shops there. I can't wait until the other Wal-Mart opens on the westside of town so maybe the store won't be so crowded.
  19. Hey KC shoppers - if you get a heads up on toy clearance going 75% - or any cool toys at 75% could you please post the store for us other KC shoppers? It is really helpful when we know what stores have the great deals. I notice some of you get out much more than I do and I rely on this thread to hear when the clearance changes so I can hustle out. Starting next week I will be driving the bus again so I can't get their at opening like I could while we were on break
  20. I was there at 8:30 and it was CROWDED. I mean so crowded that I couldn't navigate my cart through half the aisles. I don't think it went to 75% off yesterday - it really looked pretty similar this morning as when I left on Sunday morning so I just think everyone was there to BUY, BUY, BUY. I think that store is very busy regularly anyway. I rarely find very much in the way of clearance there because people seem to buy the stuff at the lower amounts rather than waiting until 75% off. They had almost no candy at 50% off.
  21. I got some of the glade scented oil Glistening Snow for 50% off at my local Dillons (Kroger). It smells pretty good - just FYI, LOL.

  23. Target also sells the Urine gone sets - or at least they have in the past. It is usually on an endcap with the rest of the "seen on TV" stuff. I think it is like 19.99 for the box with the blacklight.
  24. If you are a moviewatcher member they do sometimes have coupons for free small popcorn - but that is of course only good during the week. I can't remember the last coupon though - it was a while ago.
