It would be nice if more companies did what Starbucks does on their cards. They basically have a scratch off over the card number, so it doesn't need to be revealed until you want to check the balance or reload it.

Archery Set Help Needed for 10 year old DS

The Fred Bear Brave Youth bows are good beginner bows for kids. The 17-22 lb draw is pretty light, but if your son is small he may struggle at first to pull it. The nice thing is that once it's drawn, they weight is "released" so that it's comfortable to hold the draw while you aim. The other nice thing is that he can practice pulling and aiming (but shouldn't dry fire) indoors while it's still nasty outside. Also, and armguard (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?id=0020506&navCount=9&parentId=cat20082&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=MainCatcat21424-cat20082_TGP&parentType=index&indexId=cat20082&rid=) is a good idea for an accessory. If he hits himself with the sting while firing, it could turn him off to archery and cause him to not want to use the bow. -
You can get a decent Taylor for less than that, but I know what you mean. My BIL has a Taylor and it's an incredible guitar to play, but I am not ready to lay down that kind of money for one.

33/24 with a slight chance of snow before then. As long as it stays cold this week, I'll get to go skiing quite a bit the week after Christmas.

Church Youth group Gift for Gift Exchange

Target has a bunch of Napoleon Dynamite characters that would be a huge hit. I believe they were in the price range. The Jones Soda holiday packs are great, too. Target carries them as well, but if not, just the Jones Soda bottles would be great. -
Just keep in mind that most shipping methods will not ship bottled liquid to Hawaii, because you can only ship liquids via ground.

How old are the kids and what does the family like to do together? I'm thinking something like the Cranium board game, box of popcorn (or other snacks), Blockbuster card, etc... Something that they can all use together and have a good time.

Robert Ludlum - Author of the Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, and Bourne Ultimatum. All are excellent books...even better than the movies. Stephen Ambrose - Author of war novels, most notably, he wrote Band of Brothers. Tom Clancy - There aren't many of his books that I don't enjoy. Although, the earlier ones are the best (Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Red Storm Rising, Sum of All Fears). Mark Bowden - Journalist / Author. Writer of Black Hawk Down. Some others of his that I've enjoyed are Doctor Dealer, Finders Keepers, and Killing Pablo. I hope to read Guests of the Ayatollah in the near future.

Check out newegg. They have a Lite-On DVD burner for about $30. I've got a couple of lite-on drives and they work very well.

2 weeks until Christmas... what will you do THIS week to get ready?
mrn8 replied to 3cuties4me's topic in 2006
Everything for Christmas is done as of the first week of December. I just need to decide on what dessert I'll be taking to my grandparent's for Christmas dinner. We completely cleaned out our closets, dressers, and clothing bins (storage) and came up with 4 of those Rubbermaid bins full of stuff for a charity. I guess that's something for someone else's Christmas. -
Here are a couple of good options for complete packages that will have all the toys on them to make your boys ooh and ahh: http://www.hobbytron.com/AirsoftGunPistolSpringColt1911ZX-179923-2199F.html http://www.hobbytron.com/AirsoftPistolGunSpringZXM39305901.html http://www.hobbytron.com/AirsoftPistolGunElectricCM2012A.html

What's your budget and what style are you looking for? Pistol, rifle, shotgun... Hobbytron has some good prices on them, and has the whole spectrum of entry level to advanced. Coupon code "SAVE3D" saves you 3% at Hobbytron. I believe there are "click-though" coupons out there for free shipping, as well.

I believe the UPS Store has them as well. I'm not sure what they charge for them, though.

I love my in-laws perspective on gift giving. They are very practical and don't go crazy overboard. My MIL gets me Tupperware (yep, she gets a guy tupperware) and usually a GC to Sears, Home Depot, etc... Her family is small, though, so we get her mom something nice (Digital Camera last year, DVD/VCR Combo another), since she's single and not the type to buy herself nice things. Her brother is a musician and artist, so a bulk pack of guitar strings and some canvas usually is they way we go. Her sister is married with one kid, so we usually get them something the whole family can use in the $50-$100 range. My family is the type that goes overboard with gifts and ends up with quantity over quality, which drives us crazy.

Eve - you really only need to get there about 1/2 hour early. A lot of people end up coming in late, which is really annoying, especially if you are at the end of a row. The beauty of the concert is that you can dress any way you like. Many people dress up, and many people show up in jeans and a t-shirt, and it's all ok! It's part rock concert, part Christmas concert, and everyone seems to have a good time. My wife typically wears pants and a nicer shirt. I wear khaki's and a button-up shirt. A lot of ladies wear dresses, but late Dec in Wisconsin is cold and that seems insane to me.

Does he have a handheld GPS for hunting / fishing? Those range from about $90 - $200 for the non-color screen versions and are very handy. I use mine for hiking, biking, hunting, and geocaching. They are waterproof, so they can be used without much concern for they weather. -
Apparently Hobby Lobby carries a nice Cessna 172 kit. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563341

What about just wrapping it all up in a green and yellow ribbon? -
Do you ever spend too much money trying to make everyone even?
mrn8 replied to brynnfromtheblock's topic in 2006
I don't have your problem, yet, since we only have one child, but I know where you are coming from. Last year I got a very nice set of golf clubs and my wife didn't really get all that much (Gilmore Girls DVDs, scrapbooking stuff, and I'm sure a few other small things). This year, she's getting spoiled and it's cost a lot more than I had planned. Oh well, she deserves it.
