  1. What I'm going to say is going to tick off a lot of people, but I've found it to be true. Avoid Kodak, Polaroid, and HP cameras. Their image sensors do not last very long in those cameras, so after about 1 year (sometimes even less), your images lose clarity and you are looking for a new camera. My recommendation in that price range is the Canon A460. It's small and simple to use, as well as well built. If you don't like that one, I'd try to stick with Canon, Sony, Panasonic, or Nikon.
  2. Which camera are you looking at? The Zoom Magnifier is different between different models and brands of digital camera, so you really need to know the mm range to get a true comparison. For instance, the Canon S5 IS and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 both have a 12x zoom. The Canon's actual range is 36mm-432mm and the Panasonic is 35mm-420mm. Not a huge difference, but I just wanted to point out that you can get a greater zoom with different brands of a camera, even though if you look at the zoom rating, you would believe them to be the same.
  3. He wants my email address, it's only fair that I should be able to have his.
  4. I stay away from those hand / foot warmer products, now. They actually do me more harm than good, because they make me sweat and then not long after than, my socks or gloves are wet and cold. I'd recommend wearing layers, especially for your socks and body. A good set of gloves and a hat are a must. If you will be able to sit, take a blanket. If you're lucky, you'll have someone to share the blanket with and be even warmer!
  5. I used to have to be at work at 8am on Black Friday. That was rough, because I typically worked 8am-6pm that day, after being up all night to try to score a few deals before work. I usually just kept a fresh coffee by my side and pushed through it. I'm glad to have a job with hours that are now flexible to however I want them to go. :)
  6. This is almost getting tempting. Just a note that these are refurbished, so if you are thinking of it for a gift, it probably won't be in retail packaging.

    Gander Mountain

Based on what I know about Gander Mountain, I'd say you are better off just watching their sales and especially their clearance racks. They do inventory typically in late January or February, and they don't order much new stock of anything. They also mark things way down that they want to get out of the store at that time. However, Gander Mountain does not typically price match. If you shop there a lot, you may be able to get employees that you deal with often to PM. I've done it once, but they especially emphasize no price matching on BF.
  8. Thanks. Good time to pick up a couple of hoodies to replace the old ones. http://www.aeropostale.com
  9. Dell Outlet has a huge selection of Inspiron notebooks for under $400 right now.
  10. Check out your local Kohl's store or TJ Maxx. We got a box of 12 Champagne flutes (just basic glass flutes) for less than $10 at Kohl's a couple of years back.

    How do you wrap?

In-store is the way to go. I hate wrapping gifts and the get them done in the mall / store is usually very cheap, as long as you have a the receipts that you purchased your items in the store.

    Prime Outlets

Prime Outlets in Pleasant Prairie, WI (just North of IL/WI border on I-94) was open at midnight last year, but not all the shops opened up. In fact, those that didn't open up right away pretty much opened late, because store managers couldn't find places to park.

    Hobby Shops

I think you might be better off watching for coupons for Tower Hobbies. Local Hobby Shops don't usually do much for BF, mostly because they are small independent owned shops that are barely making a living to begin with. If you have a Horizon Hobby or Hobby Lobby (not the craft store) near you, you could possible find some sort of in-store deals.
  14. I use 4inkjets.com for replacement (compatible) toners for all of my printers at work. I've gotten very good results from them and can usually find an additional 10%-15% off coupon on the web.
  15. Wow, lot's of LCD TV's in this one. Maybe they'll make all their money on a few of the first LCD Tv's and then drop on on us really cheap.
  16. Amazon.com just had Shure E2C headphone for $40 a couple of weeks ago. Great deal on those, so you may find something like that again before BF.
  17. It's Disney themed, so we've got a Tinker Bell tree topper on it.
  18. What size are you looking for? Buy.com typically has excellent prices on any size range if you want to take a look for yourself.
  19. The Washington Post mentions GottaDeal already! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/19/AR2007091902174.html
  20. If you want a good monitor in that price range, check out this Acer at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009108. The 19" version is excellent. We now have 8 of them in this office and everyone loves them. We got all of them for $165 shipped. You just have to watch for the free shipping or sales on them. The 22" version is $219 right now, as well.

    Back room tools

We have that, too, except during tax season. It's at the Racine, WI mall and there's a small nook that they usually have 3 tables full of refurbs and returns. It's between automotive and the offices. During tax season, they have an in-house tax service and this stuff disappears for a couple of months.
  22. No, I misspoke. I loaded tomato on the WHR-HP-G54 and DD-WRT on the WHR-G125. Sorry about that.
  23. I just paid $40 each for 2 of these a couple of weeks ago. They are good routers, though. The range on these is excellent, and it can be boosted a lot with DD-WRT or Tomato. Better range than my Linksys WRT54G routers with 7db gain antennas.
  24. You have to click on Amazon.com over in the store selection to the right of the price. Great deal on these, thanks Brad! I'm in for one.
  25. I think I've only gotten one thing from Santa, and it was used! I was in the Secret Santa at Anandtech and someone gave me a used pair of binoculars. I laughed, and now they live in my range bag, so that I can see targets down range without walking out to them.
