Has anyone found a better deal that $519 shipped for the body only (black preferred)? I don't need the kit, since I already have some lenses. Any speculation that it will go much lower than that? I'd love to get it for around $400-$450, but that might be a bit optimistic on my part.

Woot.com typically sells 1 item per day. Occasionally, they do what is called a "Woot Off" where they sell one item at a time, until it sells out, and then they move on to the next item. When their items for the woot-off are done, they go back to their standard format of one per day.

Always amusing, and I waste too much time reading them. Everyone is clamoring for the BOC, which are a good deal, but usually loaded with junk. You do have to watch the prices and descriptions, though. Some things are great deals, and some are not. I generally avoid the refurbished products and make sure to price check or already know what's out there when I buy.

Any mp3 player will play audio books. If you are using it while running, I would recommend using a flash memory based mp3 player, as they have no moving parts that can get damaged by motion or impact, like hard drive based players. This SanDisk Sansa 1GB MP3 player will work perfectly.

Bass Pro currently has Carhartt on sale - some around $40. They'll also have some deals on them on BF, but you'll have to be in huge crowds to get in on that, unless they happen to offer some of those discounts online.
-
MVC members will be getting a 15% coupon in the mail. We got ours yesterday and it is valid on BF. That could make for some smoking hot deals. Maybe we will get that prelit Christmas tree after all.

Techdirt.com: Best Buy unhappy about their ad being leaked.
mrn8 replied to jennblossom's topic in 2006
We already had rumor of the ad being removed earlier this week. Closing this thread, as it's already been discussed. -
Yes, it means MIR.

shankar_ua - Your camcorder has a port that's labeled "DV." That's where you would plug in the cable that I linked in the post above. If you have Windows XP you have Windows Movie Maker. What you'll do is plug the firewire cable into your computer (if you don't have firewire, you can get an adapter for less than $20). It also has a USB 2.0 port, so you can transfer to an existing USB port. Windows Movie Maker will control and record your camera through the software, so you can tranfer everything right to your computer. Once it's tranferred, you can do all the editing.

If you are printing a lot of pictures, get them done at Walgreens, Walmart, Costco, etc... The cost of ink and paper for a photo printer (especially HP) is typically 3-5 times more than getting them printed at a store. Search the online deals forum for "free photo prints." There are many ways to get free printing from online printers, such as Shutterfly, Snapfish, and Ofoto. Check the cost of ink before you buy a photo printer. I have a Canon Pixma IP5000 and it prints incredible pictures, but the cost to replace all 3 colors and the 2 black inks is less than $15. For an HP printer, you are looking at a cost of around $40-$60 each time you change out both cartridges. Unfortunately, Canon changed their cartridges, too, so they are expensive to change on the newer printers. However, I would still recommend the Canon Pixma IP4300 printer. (Ink refills) - (Printer Link) - It looks like it's only $39.99 + $16.20 shipping AR at Amazon! That's a steal as it's around $99 shipped anywhere else.

Yep, DVD camcorders are worse quality, but they are less of a headache than hard disk based camcorders. Every review I've seen on the hard drive camcorders are completely negative.
-
Most miniDV camcorders have a firewire port for transferring video to your computer. You can use Windows Movie Maker (comes with Windows XP) to capture the video from your camcorder, but you will probably have to purchase a Firewire cable. This is the cable that it would most likely use: https://www.cablesforless.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=281 If you let me know what model your camcorder is, I can probably figure out exactly what you will need.

How much do you want to spend? Amazon has the Motorola H500 headset for $29.99 shipped. Link They also have the Logitech Mobile Express headset for $19.99 shipped. Link

Yes, but the same is true with MiniDV tapes and miniDVD recorders. Actually, hard disk based recorders are not very good yet and are priced very high. I'd avoid them more than I'd avoid a miniDVD recorder.
-
A miniDV camcorder will be a much better camera, and a lot easier on the bank account. Take a look at the Canon ZR series cameras. Choose what fits your price range and go for it. They are solid cameras with all the essential features that you'll need. Stay away from DVD camcorders as the DVDs for them are very expensive and the picture quality is downgraded to be able to put them on DVD.

This has been discussed at length and most stores are taking measures against this. This thread is closed.

The BF ad can be viewed by clicking on the link in my signature or you can go to the BF site to add items to your shopping list.

The pre-lit Christmas tree (7' St Nicholas Douglas) is currently $75 with the 30%, and it will be $69.99 on BF. If you're in the market, it's definitely worth the time saved to order now.
