Samsung 18X DVD Burner $29.99 with free shipping from NewEgg
mrn8 replied to Scott's topic in Online Hot Deals
I just installed the Lightscribe version of that and have been pleased with it. They are quiet and fast and for the 20 DVDs that I had to do it worked flawlessly. It's only been in use for about a week, so it's too soon to tell if it's going to last, but for $30 including software, that's a good deal. -

Need more ideas for my 2 year old
mrn8 replied to momof5plus1hubby's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I cut the cord off of an old keyboard and my 15-month old sits and pounds on it for a long time! Just an idea. As far as gift ideas, Duplos / Legos / Lincoln Logs are always great and give them toys that they can be imaginitive with. Seems that our son is always playing with either his Duplos, baseball (or anything he can throw), and cardboard boxes. -

It looks like there's a $20 rebate as well, plus you can still use the $10 off $30 Google Checkout coupon. $163 for that GPS is a smokin hot deal! -
Same here. Some of our courses stay open until they are covered in snow. There are a couple that are open year-round, so if you feel that you can play them, you have that option.

best easy to use digital camera for my mom
mrn8 replied to TnDimples's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Kodak definitely is aimed at the beginner user, but I'd be very cautious with their entry level cameras. I've seen quality issues with Kodak camera pictures that start developing about a year into the life of their cameras, due to cheap photo sensors. The Canon A530 is a solid built camera that benefits from higher-end technology trickling down into their entry level cameras. Just a word from experience. My 5 year old Canon 2.1mp camera still takes better photos than my parents and granparents Kodak digital cameras take. Theirs are both 2 year old cameras, one entry level and one is mid-level. -
No. We tend to buy items that will be very useful for the person that is getting them, and avoid things that end up just being clutter or are just trinkety things. We've even asked our families to not buy us gifts, because we really don't need anything and we're planning on buying a house in the next year or two, so we don't want to hurt feelings if we get rid of things that were given to us as gifts.

It's 19 degrees here in Sunny Racine, this morning. We had snow flurries yesterday afternoon. Bring your warm clothes.

best easy to use digital camera for my mom
mrn8 replied to TnDimples's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I'd get her a Canon A530. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B000EMU888/sr=8-1/qid=1162513092/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-1869605-7968024?ie=UTF8&s=electronics It's reliable, easy to use, and comes with everything needed to get started. You will probably want to get her a larger Secure Digital Memory card to get her started, though. Last year for Christmas we go my MIL a Canon A520 (close to the same as the A530) and she is definitely not tech-savvy, but she uses it all the time now. -
Here's a 2-pack for $17.99: http://www.amazon.com/Uniden-GMR1038-2-22-Channel-10-Mile-Two-Way/dp/B000E5VCBC/sr=1-8/qid=1162506653/ref=sr_1_8/103-8216333-2579848?ie=UTF8&s=audio-video I've seen them selling for $10-$15 in the past.

Yes, we do. Just make sure you use one that has a good selection of sub channels, because they are getting more popular and you really do want a unique channel.

Ethical Question on pricing at WalMart
mrn8 replied to SoCalCyclist's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
If you get it at $39 now, you are helping them fix their system. -
Wow, you scored a deal on the key holder. Congrats on the new Xbox, you got a good price.

The toe warmers are curved to fit your shoe better than a square would.

It's supposed to drop to $99 during this last quarter of the year. That could mean any day now or it could mean after Christmas.

I don't buy a paper anymore. I use the shopping list feature from the BF site here at GottaDeal and plan accordingly. I usually hope to decided on where my main spot will be a week before BF.

Lego sets (~$20-$30), the Spy stuff from Target seems to be popular, teddy bears, sports equipment... You can bet that pretty much anything you get will appeal to someone.

That bumps your order total over the $400 threshold. The system itself is $398, so you would actually be getting a $40 discount.
