  1. Unless the ad specifically states that its first come first serve, then there's nothing stopping them from putting a hold on an item.
  2. Surprisingly - yes you can. There's often a limit as to how long they'll hold something (24-48 hours) and how many based on amount of stock, but it's not a crime to call and ask for a sale item to be held.
  3. I'd rather just kept on pretending it wasn't out than know it had been leaked but was being kept back. Kmart, KB Toys, and Walmart are pretty much the only ones I care to see.. but only one of them even gets posted anymore.
  4. I suspect the answer is yes. On Black Friday, our Kmart usually has the layaway dept closed so you can not price adjust/layaway doorbusters. However on Saturday the layaway is usually re-opened.
  5. I've called stores and asked to have sale items held for me (it takes me 45 minutes to drive to the nearest store, and when gas was $3 a gallon, I simply couldn't afford to get there and the item be gone.) but never on a big ticket item that would have people lining up outside.
  6. Walmart mainly... I'll price match as much as possible. Ill go to Kmart, Sears, and Kb Toys if I can't price match.
  7. In regards to the OP, I hate to be a downer and all but my guess is the $199 mentioned is in reference to the xbox 360. That's the current going price for it, and generally stores aren't allowed to drop the price on video game systems (like the scenario with Ipods, basically).. I'd expect the 360 to be a bundle (games, extra controller, something to that effect) for $199.
  8. Last year my sister in law and I went, and we took her truck. This year, its the hubby and me, and I think we're going to borrow my mother in law's van. We have to drop off/pick up the oldest at my sister's on the way to/from the city, and my bonneville's trunk probably won't be enough storage space for everything I get. If we take the van, I can put everything in the back (There's no third row in it. someone took it out, and when they sold it - they never put it back. lol) ... and throw a quilt over it so the short ones will be none the wiser. :)
  9. Not bad! Thanks!
  10. In the mail.
  11. I got one, yesterday, too. I gave it to my 4 year old and let her tear through it to pick out the toys she wanted for Christmas and her birthday. It is pretty much regular price (and a few 'rollback's) but there's also some things in there that are new/walmart exclusives. Some of which are available on the website now, and others that are not.
  12. I had good luck price matching at Walmart in '07. I wasn't brave enough to lug into KB Toys just for some my little ponies, so I called a couple of walmarts. My local walmart would not price match KB Toys because it was over 30 miles away, so I called another walmart that was a bit closer to the KB Toys and they did it for me no problem.
  13. Just the husband and me, this year. Last year my sister in law went with me so my husband could go hunting. I don't want to do that again this year. lol
  14. I get my plan together once the ads start coming out. On Thanksgiving night I start putting in calls to double check who will pricematch where... and then I clue the husband in.
  15. My husband works 4 ten hour days, so he has Fridays off, anyway. I'm self employed, so it's no big deal if I take the morning for myself. :)
  16. Be still, my beating heart. I'm so loading up on cheap 360 games.
  17. Hey.. I'm Cole, I'm 25, from rural eastern Kentucky, and I work at home running an online community for women. I have a wonderful husband, and two beautiful daughters; Evelyn is 4.5, and Catie-Jane is 17 months. I've been a member of gottadeal for a couple of years, though I usually only lurk until Black Friday season rolls around.
  18. Depends on what I'm going for... if I'm just hitting walmart and/or kmart, I can be there in about 45 minutes (one way.) If I'm planning to hit anything in a mall, or to price match KB Toys at walmart (because you can not PAY me enough to squeeze into KB Toys on black friday!) then I have to go an hour and a half north (one way)..
  19. Neither of my girls even know who Elmo is, so I kinda hope Elmo is a hot toy. That way I know everybody's rushing for it and not for what my kids want.
  20. Walmart, unfortunately. Second would be KB Toys.
  21. I was going to do this at Kmart last year, however our store had the layaway dept closed on Black Friday, so you couldn't pick up and price adjust. :|
  22. I took my 6 month old last year. She slept in her carseat the whole time we were out. Course, I didn't wait out in the cold. I didn't get to walmart until almost 8:00 am and still got nearly everything I was going for, as well as price matched some other stuff. I did leave the 3 year old with my sister for the day, but mainly because she would've seen the things I was getting for her.
  23. Before heading out to the stores, I drop my oldest daughter off with my sister. They spend the day cooking and baking together while I'm out shopping. When I pick her back up, I'll call the store back home and order a pizza for lunch so that it's ready for pickup by the time we get back to our town. Once we get home, we chow down on pizza and while the kids take naps I bring in the loot and get it stashed away, while simultaneously pulling out the Christmas decorations. That night after dinner we put the tree up, and then once the kids are in bed the wrapping extravaganza begins.
  24. My main goal is the kids and the husband.. But if there's something I like, I'll nab it for myself, too. :)
