  1. My oldest only asked for 3 things, technically, and I nearly had to beat her to get that much. DD5's list is: Barbie Doll Sweetie Belle's Gumball Machine House (Ponyville/My Little Pony) A My Little Pony Game that you play "like this" (now hold your hands like you're holding a Nintendo DS).
  2. My Walmart had them all dumped into a cart and pushed back between the TVs and home theater system shelves. I wiggled my way through a few guys and found a few different Need for Speed xbox 360 games, and then later found Call of Duty 4 on another random shelf abandoned a bit later.
  3. I was on Walmart.com from midnight until 4 AM this morning after two different walmart's last night had told me I didn't stand a chance of getting one in store. They never became available online during the 4 hours I was constantly refreshing. Oddly enough, as I was getting the rest of the items on my list at 10:10 this morning in store, they came over the loudspeaker saying that had a few DS systems still available, and to get the ticket at the paint counter. I ran back there, got a ticket for a pink, ran to the vision center, picked it up.. paid.. and was absolutely surprised that there were still some 30+ systems available at that hour.
  4. They've never changed from Out of Stock to In Stock. I've been sitting here refreshing constantly for almost an hour straight and still nothing.
  5. The note on the DS page about them not being available at that price until Nov 27th is gone.. Still saying out of stock, though.
  6. I live in a commonwealth and we are taxed for any non-food product, even on Black Friday.
  7. I just spoke with the electronics department at my local Walmart (Paintsville, Kentucky) and the associate said that yes, the Nintendo DS' are going to be a ticketed item. And she also told me unless I'm in line in the next little bit I don't stand a snowball's chance in he11 at getting one. ETA Louisa, Kentucky also says they're ticketing the DS systems.

I have a similar model and love it. :) We bought it about 2 years ago (for much more) and it still has an excellent picture.
  9. Seriously, that's a bit overkill. My husband and I have the arcade version, we're avid gamers.. and it's just fine. It does everything the Elite does, it just does not come with a hard drive. It does have 256mb of internal memory for game saves (And that is enough for 2-3 games on one profile). Hard drives can be bought off of eBay for a dime a dozen. We got our 20gb hard drive for a whole $5.
  10. Kmart having Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox for $39 and Walmart's $98 Nintendo DS (including the almighty pink ones) are enough for me to get up at the crack of dawn this year. I was really hoping for a decent price on the DS, but wasn't actually expecting to see anything other than bundles. So hey, I'm won over.
  11. I have the Arcade model and yes, you can stream Netflix on it. It does everything the Elite does, it just doesn't come with a hard drive out of the box. That, and color, are the only differences between an Arcade and an Elite. You can get the hard drives off of eBay for a dime a dozen.
  12. My local Kmart will not price match at all, not even from the Wal-mart next door. Wal-mart will typically price match Kmart, but not if it's a percentage off, BOGO, or bundled package (like buy an item get a gift card).
  13. Does admin/mods here read PMs to know if that's occuring?
  14. My geek side is about to shine through, but I was so excited to see Left 4 Dead 2 for only $39.99 just 10 days after it's release date that I nearly fainted. I had to call my husband at work to tell him.
  15. I took my youngest last year (She was 1.5) and I'll be taking her again this year. My MIL will babysit my older daughter, but the baby's another story..so she goes with. I've never stood outside in lines, we don't leave until she's already awake for the day (About 6AM anyway), and I usually only hit Walmart and Kmart. I've also never seen it get crazy like I see claimed on here. I've never had to fight crowds or get bumped into, but then again this is a really rural area with small population numbers...It's really not that big of a deal.
  16. Wow..serious lack of toys. Just a couple "My First Craftsman" things, a drum, and a teddy bear. I don't expect a huge toy overload from Sears, but I did expect to see a little more than that. Dang.
  17. I'm an atheist, and we celebrate "winter" as opposed to 'Christ's Birth' (which isn't even really the day of Christ's birth in the first place, but whatever.). I don't pay attention to whether stores say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or anything else for that matter. Personally, *I* say Happy Holidays because I like to be polite and acknowledge that not everybody's playing the role of a fat guy in a suit just because it's December. I also don't just shop for the holidays on Black Friday... my oldest daughter's birthday is the beginning of January, so I take advantage of the extra deals during the season to stash back presents for her.
  18. DD5 thinks she dies a little every time she sees the commercial for Bendaroos and I still say no. I could just imagine the mess if one of the dogs got those bad boys and started chewing.
  19. I'm expecting to spend more this year. We're getting DD5 a Nintendo DS this year, which is almost twice as much as past year's "big" gift has been. I'll be trying to find something of equal cost for DD2's "big" gift, as well. And since my DH got a raise, we bumped up the budget for our nephews a bit. I always over do it. But this year, I'm >over< over doing it. lol
  20. A pink DS (not a DSi). It seems like, however, that whenever the DS is part of Black Friday sales it's always a red, black, blue, or silver. The pinks are rarely ever included. I'm crossing my fingers this year, though. Other than that, toys, toys, and more toys... Preferably Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, My Little Pony, and Littlest Pet Shop.
  21. My shopping was a bust. In the past I've been able to hit walmart later in the morning and get everything on my list (granted, I never go for the big items like TVs or computers, and am usually going after toys for the kidlets). This year? I got there early, the place was a madhouse, and I could only find 1 thing on my list. Everything else I was going after was sold out by 6:00. And with the 1 thing, I still stood in line for 45 minutes. I was so disheartened that we got breakfast and came home. I didnt even bother going anywhere else.
  22. Seriously? There's people lined up in places already? This is my 4th black friday, and not once have I ever stood in a line for anything.. and I've never had a problem getting what I wanted.
  23. $15 Hamilton Beach crockpots (x2) $20 Graco Baby Doll playset $4 Infant jeans (x3) $4 Toddler jeans (x3) $18 Folding table and chairs $15 Crayola Glow Station $15 Tadoodles Art Station $19 Dinnerware set $10 Xbox 360 Games (hopefully, as long as they have something we don't already have.)
  24. Please don't misinterprit what I said. Not all stores will hold an item for 24-48 hours, right before a sale, or even at all. I've heard of people being told no from stores when they call to request something be held and it be a limited stock or sale item. Likewise I doubt there's a store in the country that would stick a doorbuster back with your name on it on Black Friday. But for other minor sales throughout the year? Some stores will hold the item (and theyll put a time limit.. that depends on the store and sale, though I've been told as long as 24-48 hours in the past) for somebody if they simply call and ask. The OP makes it sound like the kid was trying to be shady or commit some kind of atrocity to mankind, when really he was probably doing what they do any other time somebody calls and asks for an item to be held.
  25. My husband and I were able to pick up a few things at walmart last night for the BF price.
