  1. Several years ago my oldest daughter had a pink Nintendo DSi at the top of her Christmas list. I didn't want to let her down, but I also knew we couldn't afford one out right. Other women on a parenting forum I was a part of were talking about planning to pick up DSis on Black Friday. My husband had to work, so I made plans with my mother in law. We headed out the next morning and I was able to snag a pink DSi with minimal hassle. I'm not sure who was more excited that year.. Me for grabbing that stinking DS or my daughter when she opened it on Christmas. lol
  2. No, I don't wait. If the girls are really into something and I see a good deal on it I will go ahead and snatch it up.
  3. Caught about a half dozen lego friends and lego duplo sets that were clearanced out from $60-$80 down to $15-30. But that's the extent of my shopping so far. The girls haven't really given me much in the way of ideas, yet.
  4. My store actually has year round layaway as part of a pilot program.
  5. Am I missing something? Kmart's Thanksgiving ad has never been particularly spectacular. I don't know what everybody was expecting?
  6. Shoot, guess I should've copied and pasted it. Its showing a 404 now.
  7. No, not necessary IMO, because ultimately you're going to need to add extra space regardless of whether you start with 500gb or 1tb. A full retail title can expect to take up 50-60gb of harddrive space. If you plan to have a gold Xbox Live account (and you should!) you'll get an additional 4 free games a month that will be taking up space, as well. Buy a 500gb console and then add an inexpensive 2-4tb external harddrive via USB3 and call it a day.
  8. 104 titles to start with at launch on the 12th of November with more being added over time. Nothing has been misleading regarding backward compatibility. They've been very clear that there's limited titles to start with and more added monthly. All future games released for free for Xbox 360s via the Games with Gold program will be backward comptabile.. Opening up 4 games for free a month to Xbox One owner with XBL subscriptions. And there -are- LEGO games on the list.. http://majornelson.com/2015/11/09/the-list-of-xbox-one-backward-compatibility-games-is-now-available/
  9. Indie games seem to do a pretty good job at filling that gap, I think, but are often overlooked as they're not hyped AAA releases sold in stores. Some of our favorites on Xbox One have been Child of Light, So Many Me, Plague Inc Evolved, Happy Wars, and The Deer God. All except Plague Inc have been (or are still) free, to boot. ETA that sports and racing games are always an option, too. And if you have a sports game fan than a year's worth of EA Access for $30 is way more than worth the price.
  10. I'm probably going to come aross as a bit of a jerk right now, but as a gamer and a mother.. I absolutely hate when there are little kids on Call of Duty. There's a ton of great, age appropriate titles out there.
  11. Sims 4 is a PC game. http://www.amazon.com/The-Sims-4-PC-Mac/dp/B00EFRN2IQ
  12. Yes. Its a policy they implemented last year. Here is their exact policy from their coorperate site. (edited to add the link: http://corporate.walmart.com/policies )
  13. Hm. My oldest daughter has metioned she'd like clothes for Christmas, and the b1g2f sweater dresses look like a good deal. We actually have a Peebles nearby, but I've never shopped there because I figured they were out of my price range. lol
  14. I'd even say 1TB isn't enough, honestly. A gold XBox Live account will net 4 free games a month.. But yes, you can use an external HD with USB 3 to add more space. I've had my XB1 since February and I've got around 40 or so titles? But I've only bought and paid for two of them.
  15. I don't know about Wii Us or PS4s, but with Xbox Ones even with the actual disc you still have to install the game to your harddrive.
