  1. Several years ago my oldest daughter had a pink Nintendo DSi at the top of her Christmas list. I didn't want to let her down, but I also knew we couldn't afford one out right. Other women on a parenting forum I was a part of were talking about planning to pick up DSis on Black Friday. My husband had to work, so I made plans with my mother in law. We headed out the next morning and I was able to snag a pink DSi with minimal hassle. I'm not sure who was more excited that year.. Me for grabbing that stinking DS or my daughter when she opened it on Christmas. lol
  2. No, I don't wait. If the girls are really into something and I see a good deal on it I will go ahead and snatch it up.
  3. Caught about a half dozen lego friends and lego duplo sets that were clearanced out from $60-$80 down to $15-30. But that's the extent of my shopping so far. The girls haven't really given me much in the way of ideas, yet.
  4. My store actually has year round layaway as part of a pilot program.
  5. Am I missing something? Kmart's Thanksgiving ad has never been particularly spectacular. I don't know what everybody was expecting?
  6. Shoot, guess I should've copied and pasted it. Its showing a 404 now.
  7. No, not necessary IMO, because ultimately you're going to need to add extra space regardless of whether you start with 500gb or 1tb. A full retail title can expect to take up 50-60gb of harddrive space. If you plan to have a gold Xbox Live account (and you should!) you'll get an additional 4 free games a month that will be taking up space, as well. Buy a 500gb console and then add an inexpensive 2-4tb external harddrive via USB3 and call it a day.
  8. 104 titles to start with at launch on the 12th of November with more being added over time. Nothing has been misleading regarding backward compatibility. They've been very clear that there's limited titles to start with and more added monthly. All future games released for free for Xbox 360s via the Games with Gold program will be backward comptabile.. Opening up 4 games for free a month to Xbox One owner with XBL subscriptions. And there -are- LEGO games on the list.. http://majornelson.com/2015/11/09/the-list-of-xbox-one-backward-compatibility-games-is-now-available/
  9. Indie games seem to do a pretty good job at filling that gap, I think, but are often overlooked as they're not hyped AAA releases sold in stores. Some of our favorites on Xbox One have been Child of Light, So Many Me, Plague Inc Evolved, Happy Wars, and The Deer God. All except Plague Inc have been (or are still) free, to boot. ETA that sports and racing games are always an option, too. And if you have a sports game fan than a year's worth of EA Access for $30 is way more than worth the price.
  10. I'm probably going to come aross as a bit of a jerk right now, but as a gamer and a mother.. I absolutely hate when there are little kids on Call of Duty. There's a ton of great, age appropriate titles out there.
  11. Sims 4 is a PC game. http://www.amazon.com/The-Sims-4-PC-Mac/dp/B00EFRN2IQ
  12. Yes. Its a policy they implemented last year. Here is their exact policy from their coorperate site. (edited to add the link: http://corporate.walmart.com/policies )
  13. Hm. My oldest daughter has metioned she'd like clothes for Christmas, and the b1g2f sweater dresses look like a good deal. We actually have a Peebles nearby, but I've never shopped there because I figured they were out of my price range. lol
  14. I'd even say 1TB isn't enough, honestly. A gold XBox Live account will net 4 free games a month.. But yes, you can use an external HD with USB 3 to add more space. I've had my XB1 since February and I've got around 40 or so titles? But I've only bought and paid for two of them.
  15. I don't know about Wii Us or PS4s, but with Xbox Ones even with the actual disc you still have to install the game to your harddrive.
  16. I go with my husband. I need all of the help I can get. :\
  17. I don't use credit cards, so what I have saved is what I have to spend and no more.
  18. I've never shopped at (or even heard of) REI but I had to roll my eyes a bit at the 'go outside' aspect of their announcement. Pompous.
  19. We seriously had the best time last year. We had dinner, and then left the girls with my ILs so we could go to Walmart and try to snag the older girls a 32inch TV for their room. I was absolutely terrified we weren't going to get one since we left late, but my husband was actually 3rd in line. I even managed to finish shopping and get us checked out before the TV could be picked up. We loaded up, he drove me home so I could get the girls (a 45 minute drive!) then turned and went back after the TV.. Seriously the smoothest sale -ever-.
  20. I looked them up on Xbox's marketplace and here is what is listed for each game: 1. Injustice has offline multiplayer up to 4, and online multiplayer capabilities up to 8 players. 2. Destiny TTK has online multiplayer 2-16, or online coop up to 6. No offline. 3. MK vs DCU has online and offline multiplayer (up to 2) 4. Street Fighter IV has online 2 player. 5. Destiny base game has the same multiplayer options as The Taken King. 5. No multiplayer is listed for Transformers Devestation. 7. Wipeout features up to 4 players offline. No online play. Requires a Kinect. 8. Sonic Unleashed does not list multiplayer capabilities.
  21. My handicap pass was a life saver last year! Best thing I've ever asked my doctor for. lol The year before that we had to park at the bottom of the hill and I was in tears just from trying to cross the parking lot, let alone getting back down the hill to the car itself.
  22. I have some pretty severe social anxiety that likes to flare up on my way to do my BF shopping. I don't do well in groups of strangers as it is and because of rheumatoid arthritis I struggle with mobility. The last couple of black fridays have been a little unnerving as the disease has worsened. I worry about trying to maneuver through the crowd. I walk slower and with a pretty pronounced limp these days. I can't lift anything heavy and I'm prone to dropping things. These issues get exacerbated because I'm already fatigued from holiday cooking, and then you throw me in a group with people reaching over you, hitting you with carts, etc..I took a pretty good beating two years ago just from minor interactions. lol Last year was much better, though.
  23. If its a tight year, absolutely nothing. It'll all be for the girls and only the girls. If its a better year, then I may splurge and get myself a video game that I've been wanting if its on sale. I'm actually crossing my fingers that its a better year than others this year, and that we'll be able to upgrade the main TV in the living room. My oldest daughter actually expressed wanting to upgrade as a 'family' gift, but the littler girls weren't really convinced on the value of the trade. lol
  24. Not all 4Ks are expensive. The Hisense 50 inch 4K smart TVs are only $598. Pretty reasonable, even if they weren't 4k, really.
  25. Hm. I've not had any problems with price matching. And I do it a lot. I'm in a rural area, so I'm limited to only price matching 'local competitors' with specific ads. They won't price match something that's not within 10-15 miles of them, for example. There's not a Best Buy around, so I can't stroll in with a Best Buy ad. However, once they started price matching online sales last year that opened things up for me to price match stores I normally couldn't have. I can say "Best Buy has this on their website for (x)" and have it matched, now.
