  1. My story is from the other side of the aisle. Many many years ago I worked at TRU (holiday part time help) and I had showed up at 7am since I had another job (full time job) in the night/mornings (2am to 9am). This did not sit well with management even though I left my other job early. Things seemed to go decent at first that day though I did argue with a crazy lady who was upset the store advertised $5 Furbies but she expected the item to still be there at 10am. Later that day as I worked the floor I helped a cranky customer who asked which board games were a part of the buy one get one free deal. I said any game in this display (and pointed to the display) and she thanked me for my help and left. About 15 minutes or so later I hear the same voice shouting “HIM, that's the lying fool“! Sure enough it was the cranky customer with manager in tow. She accused me of lying and that I said the game she had was free. I looked at the game she had which was one of those high priced Monopoly special edition games. Clearly this was not on the display and I made mention of it. She refused to listen and stated how was she to know since that game was in the display. I mentioned how logic would dictate that a bunch of cheap board games in the display (like Candy Land) would not warrant getting a pricey game for free. I said how another customer must have put it there and I never said that game was on the BOGO list. I was about to turn around to walk away and then what happened next shocked me!........... She did the unthinkable. She threw the board game at me! It bounced off my shoulder and pieces scattered on the floor. So I did what any semi sane person would do. I threw the game right back at her. Hindsight maybe not the best choice. The manager freaked out and demanded I apologize to her. I said she had to apologize first for calling me a liar and throwing the game at me. I was given the ultimatum of apologizing or losing my job. I took off my ugly blue vest and walked out. Thus ended the first, worst and last holiday job I ever had. My only regret is not buying more stuff (to get the 10% discount) before I quit.
  2. Where do you live? Where I reside prices are low. Add in double coupons and I can get enough food to feed me for a week (mind you I eat like a horse) for under $20. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jiEGi1uZbOyKPTY3TcqYbzRZEgOQD9AJ8T4O0 But back on topic, I think for me the stores are going to have to break out incentives as this holiday season I will need a reason to walk into a store (or stand in a line). That and I am moving and it has to fit in my car.
  3. At the dollar store. Hard to find non religious cards though. I usually go with the happy holiday ones and a snowman on the front.
  4. Just put on a sweater dammit!
  5. Just a craaaazy thought but what about an older system (last gen)?
  6. Sock skates? I would soooo buy these for myself! Do they make them in adult sizes? Though I have upset a many (ex) gfs single moms with "no-no" gifts. Apparently this was not a good gift... I was in Japan and her kids (who saw this bug fighting thing on an anime) wanted an arena for bugs to fight in so I got them one. http://www.japanesebugfights.com/ Another bad gift was getting a kid a cheap drum set, so was this... http://www.amazon.com/Jumpin-Banana-SHOCKING-ARM-WRESTLING/dp/B000JWP2O8 In my defence it said 14 years and up!!! The kid was clearly 14!
  7. Do you have a friend who can pick up an item or two on BF for ya?
  8. Much thanks for the reviews! :) I'll pass and cross my fingers and toes for a higher quality (and more memory) one on BF.
  9. When does the gift have to be sent by? What if the person won't be in the USA?
  10. But what sane person would order Pens stuff? Sadly most of the Calgary stuff is either for chicks or XXL sizes.
  11. Not out here. Just starting to see Halloween stuff out and they are slowly packing away the Back to School stuff.
  12. Not that I am aware of. I only know if I want $2 bills I have to order $200 worth at a time at my bank. There is a Navy Fed somewhat near my place but I doubt they let anyone just waltz in and use their coin counting machine for free. Right?
  13. Don't gift cards expire? I mean I know in California the law says they cant expire but are other states the same? I've got 9 years of change building up. Not sure what to do with it as coinstar is sooooo not getting 8% of it. I probably have ummm $1000's?? in coins. No joke! Its 1 and half of those huge 5 gallon water jugs.
  14. Nothing really yet. Unless a b-day gift (their b-day is on 12-31) counts.
  15. Was too busy to go. That and it's a bit of a drive and this chick I am trying to avoid works in the same shopping centre. ha ha
  16. Go to the outlet store or the salvation army type of shops. Ok depending where you live but the ones in my area and Beverly Hills you can find some good deals there.
  17. I usually post a flyer on the campus bulletin boards asking for books. I also have a group of friends in the same program and we swap books when we can.
  18. I saw an ad for Lego Rock Band. Not sure if that might be popular with the kiddies.
  19. I voted! But how does one have over 23K votes?
  20. moving at years end so only things I could use are: A.) Digital video camera 2.) a few video games F.) some winter clothes or sports shirts/jerseys Don't have 5 things. heck I'm trying to get rid of stuff as it is.
  21. yes gov't id means passport or drivers license usually
  22. Well I got my current car from the LAPD auction. But this state auction I want to know if the deals are worth a drive there. I mean if I can get one of those nice laptops for real cheap I might consider going. Anyone have thoughts on this? Nah just get a cheap flight for $39 there. get the car and drive it back down. Or go their EBAY page and bid on them. I was seeing decent cars for under $2,500. And the Governor autographs every car for ya! No joke!
  23. I am thinking of going but unsure if there will be great deals? If I needed a car I would go for sure. http://www.dgs.ca.gov/garagesale
  24. Check GameCrazy or Gamestop. I dunno if Blockbuster has their game section still open or not as the local one in town shut their game section down and toss the used games in with the DVDs.
  25. Usually its based on the ad. Though I plan to purchase some items from any place that sponsors this site to show my support. I refuse to shop at Walmart and TRU. Some places like Radio Shack and Kohls I would shop at but refuse to drive 40 miles one way to go there. I shop locally if possible to support the local community. Best Buy, Frys, Target, Circuit City (oops they are gone) and Gamestop are my usual places over the last 4 years.
