  1. Cationary on this video! It shows emergency personnel working on the victim, not the trampling of him. If you are faint of heart, don't watch it. ~ Patty Is this the video from the trampling? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/11/28/national/main4637170.shtml
  2. I agree after getting the items and caught up in the madness I said to myself "This is not a good deal!" so I ended up putting the item back. Only ended up buying a few 8gb flash drives for $10 a piece.
  3. Reason #26 I refuse to shop at Walmart. Well, I shall wait till all the facts are out before making a opinion. Since the story has changed from miscarriage to not a miscarriage. Though I do agree Walmart should have better rules in place. They saw the size of the crowd and it is stupid to have one person in the line of fire.
  4. Rolled into the BB line around 4am like always. Had a few cops roaming the area this year. Funny thing was one of them was a twin of the small, soft spoken woman from the Police Academy movies. Line was not that large according to those in line from years past (1/3 less). I was the entertainment of my section of the line. I guess cause I was had shorts and a t-shirt on oh and a cool light up santa hat on too! (I explained I am originally from Canada) and got a lot of questions and told lots of stories. Met a nice guy from P.I who was on vacation and was stocking up on deals. He said something about buying 4 goats (yes I said goats) and getting them sent back to his town. The employees handed out ads and took names on a list since they said a few of the doorbusters they did not have enough of so if you gave them your name they would give you a rain cheque! Something about how you had to go to the customer service centre inside when you got inside to get the rain cheque. Only two incidents was : Some younger kid walked down the line and shouted how he had camped out for 4 days to get a ticket and was looking to sell it. Well, he found a buyer and then the cops caught him and took him over the police car! What a dummy! I mean at least be discreet about it! Dunno what happened to him but he was crying when my part of the line passed the car. Also some people got mad cause they never mentioned the $279 laptop was a misprint and they never said anything until you got into the store! At least according to the people complaining. i just heard some loud voice say "I waited inline for 2 days for nothing then"? The line at BB moved quick and I was able for the 4th year in a row to get what I wanted. Plenty of good items left. I found the HD camera I wanted and took an HDTV listed on the ad. Also grabbed that $59 camera. I walked around the store to look for other deals and saw a lady who was asking if they had the HDTV I had. I felt generous and told her she could have mine as I really did not NEED the HDTV. I also putback the HD video camera as I felt it was an impulse buy and not really a good deal. (I'd rather spend my BF $$$ in Europe when I am on vacation next month) Got inline and put the digital camera down. Ended up buying the 8gb flash drive. Cashier said that is all? I laughed and said I started with more but changed my mind during the long wait. Left BB at 6am and went to Fry's and met my friend there (he wanted to sleep in). He got himself a GPS for under $100 and that was it as his budget was $100. I got another cheap flash drive. The line was SUPER LONG checking out! All the way around the store! About a 90 minute or longer wait inline! I grabbed a magazine or two from upfront and read it while waiting. We also managed to get food from the cafe inline as well. Stopped at GameCrazy saw nothing of interest, got food from Carls Jr and went home and took a nap. Just woke up. Maybe it was just me but it was not as busy as previous years. Also I noticed lots of high end items still available at BB and even at Frys. But glad everyone who posted had a nice time.
  5. So. Cal ad anyone? I will end up going to Frys but unsure if I should make it my 2nd stop or not.
  6. Well the local TV reporter said BB had a $300 laptop on the news. I trust he is telling the truth. As far as Where in the blue hell are you shopping? You need to find a different place to shop! Out here the lines are nowhere near as long. 200 people was the most in line last year.
  7. No Hollywood Games probably wont have the deal. two seperate places. (no MVP cards at Hollywood Games, no tournaments, no midnight Madden mania, no contests...etc ) Friend was a manager at the Gamecrazy and he was laid off after they closed/ switched to Hollywood Games (1st round of closings last year). The Hollywood video employees took over the game side. I'd ask Blockbuster games or GameStop if they will price match.
  8. Get a strong male friend to tag along. I go with friends every year for that reason (as they buy me lunch, a 6 pack of beer or a small gift) to be their pack mule for the morning. I usually just get one item (GPS last year) so it's no big deal for me. I had two female friends who did the all nighter thing one year and I would roll in at 4am and jump line (they told everyone I was just hired muscle while in line all night and was NOT going to take their doorbuster) It's not too hard to get a guy to be a pack mule just bat your eyes, say please a lot and bribe him with beer or food. LOL
  9. Well I mentioned before I can understand the college kids with nowhere to go and not wanting to be stuck on campus or go to a RA (Resident Adviser) meeting. I don't celebrate USA Thanksgiving, as my Turkey Day was last month. Not saying I would even think about going out that early (4am for me!) but there are those who don't care much about American Thanksgiving. Yes I think being out there that early is silly and especially since there is no great deal worth waiting for as you can get it later on in the year (from browsing this site!) for a similar price. It is just a matter of opinion and we are all entitled to ours.
  10. Drove past the same store en route home and a few more people in line as the sun is somewhat out. Though they say more rain out here in Cali.
  11. I enjoy the looks I get when inline with shorts and hockey jersey. If I had a loonie for every time I was asked "Aren't you cold?"
  12. That would make sense as most of the people inline on the newscast were clearly teens.
  13. Reside in So. Cal and the line that was formed yesterday near town (Target) has now shrunk by about 2/3rds. Can't say I blame them. Raining buckets out here last night. No need to catch a cold either!
  14. Well I figure it is confirmed as the reporter mentioned it (twice) in the newscast.
  15. Madden for the last gen systems have always been discounted. Doubtful Blitz 2 will be though $39.99 is the current price and is not bad for a PS3 game. Besides if it is like the All Pro football game for PS3 it will be $20 in a few months to the above poster the lego series have been good games. the Sims is a good game as well. the rest of the under 30 DS games I would not recommend.
  16. Well according to the news they had been there since Sunday afternoon. It was the Los Angeles local news station but the reporter was not reporting from L.A (outside the greater L.A area)
  17. Yup waiting on the Fry's ad. Love that place!
  18. I assumed it was one of the bonus doorbusters. As I did not see it in the ad posted.

    $300 laptop

Was watching the local news tonight and the reporter was out in front of a BB. He talked to a few already inline and then said during his report that Best Buys biggest doorbuster this year was a $300 laptop.
  20. Well people are entitled to their own opinion. I think standing in line for 6 hours is crazy. Hell the news just showed a group that had been camping at the BB since Sunday afternoon. Mostly teens who said they had the week off for Thanksgiving. They (news station) said BB is having $300 laptops. The BB manager said last year the line was 1000 people long and he hopes this year is the same (yea right! I doubt it) For me I can't justify standing inline for an item. I'd rather pay the extra $300 for it weeks later instead of camping overnight. I just do not see camping out in front of a store as fun.
  21. Well I don't need a TV this year as I have mine already but 2 years ago at BB I was able to rush in the store (did not have a ticket) and they had the item stacked up (like a display) and I got my limited quantity TV. What BB are you shopping at? Mine seems to be survival of the fittest with the exception of a few doorbusters as they let the first few inline into the story early to pay for their doorbuster, they are allowed back inline if they have other shopping to do. O! the BB also hands out maps showing where each doorbuster is located. The system has been in place for 4 years I think. I guess my silly view is if you are there early you have a headstart on those who are behind you.
  22. I show up about 2 hours before open and for all 4 years I have gotten the lower profile item I wanted. I never had to wait all that long either. I'm not shopping in a huge city like Los Angeles but around Santa Barbara. If I were you I would preorder it at another store and see if they price match elsewhere. If not I don't think EndWar will be flying off the shelf at all. I'd think Fallout 3 and that one 4 player zombie game would be in higher demand.
  23. I know a few college students at my college who are lining up tonight. Campus will be dead Wednesday and most professors have made class optional. One of them said it was an excuse not to be at the RA meeting at the dorm (and to get out of cleaning), and not hang out at an empty campus. I don't have any family so it is not a matter of spending time with family for me. Also don't celebrate US Thanksgiving and had my Thanksgiving back in Oct. Yet I would never camp out as my time is far more important to me than a few bucks off an item. I just show up around 4 am and for all 4 years have always got what I wanted. All the doorbuster items every year is an item I own. I would never wait till BF to get an item. I wanted a nice HDTV years ago before hockey season started. Can afford the extra $300 bucks and was worth seeing my hockey in HD then instead of waiting a few months. Funny part about the homeless as when the BevMo opened in town you got a free $25 gift card for the first 100 customers. Over half the line was homeless people lined up a week before the store opened!!!
  24. Heard on the Leo Laporte radio show that if you are in the market for a cpu it is better to wait until after the holidays.
