  1. Target in my area has them on the shelves now - in the toy department by the electronic toys like the UB Funkey's or the Video Now's.
  2. I am sure the policy was started because there are people who abuse the policy, however, the people on here complaining are honest people. It is unfortunate, however, I don't think it would be too much to have a policy where if a toy is broken it can be exchanged. No gift card - just exchanged. If someone comes in with an old toy from years ago - just say no. If they get beligerent call the cops. I am sure people abuse the system - you will find that everywhere but the stores shouldn't penalize the honest customers as well. JMO of course.
  3. Our newspaper - The Kansas City Star ran a story on GPS devices and they said that indications are that GPS's will be doorbusters on BF. Some could go as low as $99. The Consumer reports top 5 Navigation Devices are: 1. Garmin Nuvi 660 2. Garmin Nuvi 350 3. TomTom Go 910 4. Magellan Crossover 5. Garmin StreetPilot c580 I prefer to support US businesses when I can - that is why I am so in love with Garmin - not to mention they are based in the middle of the heartland in Olathe, KS. Garmin is also great with support - they just sent us out an updated map system to download onto our new Streetpilot.
  4. I just bought my dh a Garmin Streetpilot 550 and he really likes it. It has the traffic function and gives the turn by turn directions. What is even better is that both my mom and dad work for Garmin so not only did we get the employee pricing, but we get super fast awesome support, LOL. Again I am biased but the Garmin is awesome - is based here in the US which Tom Tom is not, and has been in the GPS field for a long time - they are very popular with aviation companies. As far as BF goes I would think there would be some on sale. I don't know if any will be a doorbuster but with how popular they are becoming I wouldn't be surprised if one of the lower cost brands is. Probably not a Garmin though.
  5. I think we are going to do a kid's drawing where each kids draws another's name and gives a gift to them only. My dh thought this idea up - I'm not so hot on it because I like shopping and giving gifts to everyone but with the additional 2 kids on Lori's side (they are like 11 and 15 I think) it will make it more manageable $$wise. The other thing about that idea that bugs me is that more than likely a sibling will get another's name since there are our 3 kids and the 4 of dh's sister.
  6. I don't think the mood was bad. Everyone is too afraid of a small debate, geez. Personally I love a good argument every once in a while and my dh is out of town LOL. Also the juice is a major bargain in my house since we use them for our school lunches. I shop endcaps and look for clearance stickers and I ALWAYS check the juice aisle, ha ha.
  7. I am right there with ya. I may look at that dang juice aisle everytime I am there but I guarantee I am spending WAY more than just that.
  8. I understand that the 10 pks of juice are a clerical error - however, it is not right for them to up the price when you are purchasing without notice. Like someone else said - they noticed the error and allowed her purchase what was in her cart and THEN they FIXED the error. That is what Target needs to do. Fix the error. BTW - the juice situation has nothing to do with stealing. The juice is being paid for at the price that it rings up on the register. I am positive Target knows about the issue - I am sure someone from the company reads the Target threads pretty regularly. They can fix the problem on their end easily enough they just haven't. I am not going to feel guilty about buying them if I find them, and I would be mad if I got to the register and the juice rang up for $.69 but they told me I had to pay $2.
  9. It would be nice to get Steven Baker's email address. I would like to email him about his comments as well. Maybe he would care a little bit more if he took some comments from us too. His comments were total crap as far as I am concerned and I would like to tell him so (I don't want to call a jerk because I get too angry when people are rude to me). Also I don't think it is fair for Simley to assume it was a gottadeal member unless the caller specifically identified him/herself as a member. What specifically is a shame about what Gottadeal is doing? Gottadeal is advocating its members to use their voices (and emails) to make their feelings heard. Brad posted that NOBODY should call these people at home and the number was removed quickly. Sure some people have bad judgement - just like Wal-Mart does.
  10. Here is my situation. My SIL got remarried a couple of years ago. At the time she and my dh were in a big fight with each other and they weren't talking so we weren't invited to the wedding (we think they got married in Vegas anyway) and hadn't ever met his kids. Well my dh and his sister have patched things up (as best they can anyway) and we see them sometimes now. Mike (SIL's new hubby) has 2 kids. SIL has 2 kids as well (about the same age as Mike's). We really don't know Mike's kids very well - the daughter Mikayla does come over when Lori and Mike do because she likes to play with our dd. She doesn't ever really interact with us unless I directly talk to her - then you can tell she is uncomfortable, LOL, so I don't bother her much. The boy Nick has only come over once and didn't say 2 words to either dh or I. I'm not sure what to do about presents. We barely talk to them and don't really know them. Chances are on the holiday celebrations they are at their Mom's house anyway. I don't want them to feel bad but then again I don't really have the $$ to add them into the mix, especially when I don't even know them. What would everyone else do?
  11. I just emailed Mr. Simley as well. What a dunghead!!
  12. Toys R Us is wrong on their ad. According to this website the game is officially delayed until Feb 2008. They probably had their ad planned for quite a while and couldn't change it because the release delay was announced too late for them.
  13. Well I'd like to add two more cents by regretfully saying that Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been delayed to February 10th, 2008. You can get more info at www.smashbros.com This bites. My sons LOVE Super Smash Bros. for the gamecube and I was going to get this game for them for Christmas. Bummer. I guess I will have to tell the boys to save some of their Christmas $$ so they can buy it when it comes out in Feb. 08.
  14. Why not wait until Thanksgiving? Can you try a different store in a different area? That gunman was bold if he went down a big line of people - that's for sure. One thing about BF is that the police are usually hanging around and if that crime happened during Wii time then chances are they will be out in full force during line waiting on BF. You could always call and ask at the police station. Just mention the Wii incident and see what their plans are for BF to keep everyone safe.
  15. Well the store should be open on Wednesday at 3 pm - that is for sure so I wouldn't worry about then. I think that if people see you there that early there will be a good chance you will have someone join you that night. You can also "tip" the news station about how early "someone" is standing in line for BF and they will be hanging around to film for a while which will also alert the authorities to you out there as well. Frankly I am of the opinion that if someone wants to commit a crime they are going to do it regardless of who and where. If everyone was afraid then why go shopping during the holiday's alone heck people get mugged going to their cars. You can't stop living life. I would tell your dh if he is so worried he should go with you, although that probably wouldn't stop anyone dead set on potentially mugging you. Lot of criminals carry guns and don't have any problems holding up a man either.
  16. Well I am a bit biased because my mom AND dad work for Garmin, LOL, but we have a Streetpilot 550 which is really great. We got the factory reconditioned one for a little over $200 and it is still warrantied for 1 year. It also has bluetooth, and mp3 capability. Really nice. I think Garmin is the best but of course like I said I am biased - but it is nice because Garmin is US based and has been in the market around here a lot longer than the other companies.
  17. I haven't been keeping as good track so I don't know if this was mentioned. Got 3 packages of boys briefs for 75% off (1.24 each). Very good deal!
  18. I got one of the Hauer stainless 4.6 cubic foot fridges for my dh with an AS IS sticker on it priced $52.25. That was more then 50% off of the sale price last week. I was delighted with that price and went for it. Brought it home and it works perfectly, YAY!! There is a small dent in the front door and the front feet were missing but we were able to fix that and my dh is so happy! Ok today I found a Dora the Explorer Toddler bike helmet & pads set 75% off for $4.98. There was also a princess bike lock and horn set for $3 something - we passed on that. I also got a pair of 2 lb wrist weights that link over the thumb for $2.48.
  19. I am actually the room mom for my ds7's 2nd grade class this year. I have to help coordinate the parties - we have 3 - fall harvest (Halloween), Holiday, and Valentines. Parents sign up to bring treats, juice boxes, napkins, plates. I get a check from the PTO to help offset the cost of the craft project and any prizes for the games. Usually I provide a goodie bag. I always spend more than what the PTO gives me (I did this last year for my other ds's kindergarten classroom). I baked, planned, and provided tons of prizes and goodies. The best part is the big thank you my son gave me after I did all that work. I thought he wouldn't notice but he did and it was great!!
  20. You can search auction snipers and get some options. I use esnipe.com They give you a free trial and then you just pay them a small fee for each auction you win.
  21. People shopping to resell will always be something you need to think about with any sale - but especially on BF. Lots of people use ebay as their primary income and shop to find the best bargain so they can make some profit for themselves.
  22. I got my shirt the other day - super fast shipping - it looks great. I will wear it proudly on BF!
  23. I have to say that I love that DCPI search function that was mentioned last month. I saved that page on my favorites and it helped me to find a 18' x 48'' metal pool today. I put the DCPI (found on the Target website) into the search and it came back with one store in my area that had the pool available - most all others were out of stock. I went today and got my pool for $125 (reg. $500). My dh is so happy - this was our first year with a quick set and we loved it. This is going to be even better for next year!! I did notice at this store the backpacks are 30% off. That hasn't been the case at the other stores I have been to. Hopefully I can snag a cute Dora backpack for my dd when they go to 75% off.
  24. I found 4 10 packs of MM Grape and 1 pack of MM Fruit Punch today!! Yay. I went so long without finding any and now I have gotten lucky on 3 of my Target trips. I am packing the boys' lunch quite often this year so a 10 pack lasts one week. Now I have 8 weeks of juice saved up which is awesome. I also found a V-Tech superman smartridge hanging with the other games. It didn't have a tag but I remembered it was on clearance with the 75% off stuff so I put it in my basket and brought it up to the cashier. I just told her I knew it was 75% off (4.98) when I bought one last month. She just asked if I was sure it was the same game and I said yes and she keyed in $4.98 manually. I also got 4 wrought iron tiki torch bases. They are so cool because those bamboo stakes on the torches get broken when trying to push them into the ground. Now we can just secure the torches into the iron base without having to push them into the ground. They were $2.98 each. Their 4 packs of torches were 50% off ($4.98) so I bought a package to put in my new holders, LOL. All in all a good trip. I am definitely happy with the juice. The date on them is march 08 for anyone wondering. They stay good for quite a few months.
  25. I would like some new books to read, a sirius satelite radio, a new vacuum, and guitar hero III for Wii.
