  1. I saw that and had thought about it. Just not sure. The game system is going to be a combo gift for one of my sons and my daughter. It is a little more than I'd like to spend, but you also have to factor in the kohls cash and that's a pretty good deal. I will have to check out the prices of the Xbox One games, the Kinect for the Xbox One, and what games are available for the Xbox One as well. Thank you for pointing that out. I had actually forgotten about that ad.
  2. Yeah, they don't really care about new games. My son is basically just wanting Call of Duty games. I just realized that they have Call of Duty games for the Wii as well. We already have a Wii. Can anyone tell me how the games differ for each system. My son has played Call of Duty on the 360 at a friends house which is why he said he wanted a 360.
  3. Thank you. Just depends on the deals for the Xbox One and the price difference between the Xbox One and 360 (which I am pretty sure will be a big one).
  4. Hopefully so. I am even more hopeful since the Target ad came out last night. I am specifically waiting for Walmart.
  5. This has been a tough year financially. I am hoping to have around 500-600 for BF this year, but not sure if it will even be that much. It will probably be a mix of both cash and credit cards (for the rewards).
  6. Thank you. I am hoping that they have a good deal on them this year. Hopefully they will also have the Buy 2, get 1 free deal on used accessories again as well.
  7. My 3 kids (around 100-150 each) My son's fiance (around 20) My other son's girlfriend (around 20) My 10 year old niece (around 20-30) We will also buy/make a little something for my dad. It is going to be a hard Christmas this year because my mom (his wife of 42 years) passed away in August. This was her favorite time of year so it's gonna be hard. We usually buy for: my FIL & MIL, my sister and BIL, my BIL and his wife, and our nephew (he is 16) but this year finances are extremely tight so not sure if we will be able to get them a gift or not. We might just make homemade Christmas ornaments and make cookies or something for them.
  8. None of my kids are heavy gamers but this year both my son and my daughter have requested an Xbox (either 360 or One). We're not going to have a lot of money to spend this year (it has been a tough year financially) so I am leaning towards the Xbox 360. There is 8 1/2 years between them, so this is one thing they both have in common and can play together. My son wants some Call of Duty games and my daughter wants a Kinect, a few Kinect games, and a few other games. I am hoping to get a good deal on a system this year.
  9. My daughter was allowed to go with my husband, me, and one of my sons last year. For two months, she had saved her birthday money, chore money, and money the grandparents had given her. She wanted a trampoline. So, we allowed her to go with us. We got there three hours early so during that time we allowed her to walk around with either her brother or dad. But, about 45 minutes before the chaos started she had to come stand in line with me. Last year she wanted to go spend the night with her cousin that night. This year she is 11 and she has asked to go BF shopping with me. I believe she is mature enough and I know she will enjoy it. That being said, we live in a small town. Although Walmart will be our first stop, so far we've had hardly any trouble in the past there. There was a little trouble one year and the police escorted the woman out. After Walmart, I am hoping that we will be able to come home and sleep for a while and then get up early the next morning. But, that depends on the ads. When my boys were younger (age 5) I took them BF shopping. My friend also took her kids (age 4 and 5 at the time). They stayed in the buggy at all times. I will say that this was 14 years ago. So, I don't think it was quite as bad back then since back in those days BF happened on BF and not on Thanksgiving evening. I think that your points are right on.
  10. We have one of those and several of the Walmart brands too. The quality is nothing like the American Girl dolls. She ended up buying one from Amazon with her birthday money that she had saved. I am going to be on the lookout for another one at a good price, but now she is wanting mostly accessories and clothes so I will probably be getting those from Walmart.
  11. I wish there was one closer to us. My boys love this store. I've not looked through the ad yet, but there is always stuff in there that they want.
  12. Not really impressed. I saw a few things for me such as the mixing bowl set, plastic containers, and a few other kitchen items. The only thing I really saw for my daughter was board games. I didn't see any Barbie stuff or My Life stuff on sale. I think I am going to try to catch what I need from Walmart online this year.
  13. I was thinking the same thing. At first I thought they may wait until after the election, but then I got to thinking that they wouldn't get much talk if they did it after. I feel like it might be early morning.
  14. Can someone tell me if this is a good price for this? It won't be used for heavy gaming or anything. It will mostly be used for homeschool work and light internet use. https://www.hsn.com/products/hp-156-touch-intel-quad-core-8gb-ram-1tb-hdd-laptop/8251325
  15. We homeschool as well and am looking for a laptop. We do need a CD/DVD drive, but depending on what the prices are on other laptops with the CD/DVD drives, we may buy one without it and then buy an external one. It isn't the ideal solution, but it will work. We must have a laptop because we need the portability of one since two days a week we do some of our school away from home.
  16. Thank you. I have looked at the Dell flyer, but I just glanced over it. I will definitely be taking another look. I am even considering getting a netbook and then buying an external CD/DVD drive. It all depends on what will be the cheapest route.
  17. I don't ever watch that. I noticed that Zulilly has sales on American Girl every so often, not sure if it includes the dolls or not though. She has several dolls and accessories of the knock off brand at Walmart. The dolls are awful. The biggest problem is that their legs won't move right. My daughter played with them for a while but got aggravated that they wouldn't do right. She wants a real American Girl doll this year. They have the cutest stuff out at Walmart now. She has already said she wants some of it, just waiting to see if it goes on sale Black Friday. She is 10 and still loves playing with stuff like that and I want to keep her a little girl as long as I can. I am sure that they will be excluded. The closest TRU to us is an hour and a half anyway.
  18. My daughter and I were in there about a month ago and saw them. I can't remember which one it was though.
  19. Does anyone know if AMerican Girl has any sales Black Friday (or any other time)? My daughter is wanting one so I am hoping to find one on sale.
  20. My daughter is wanting a laptop for Christmas. She will 10 next month. It will not be used for heavy gaming. She is homeschooled and at least one or tow of her classes will be done completely online and it is possible that at least one class will be on DVD so it will need a CD/DVD drive as well. Other uses will be typing papers and basic online games. I am trying to decide whether to put one on layaway or wait until BF. I can't spend over $300.00 but 250.00 or less would be better.
  21. Hopefully it will do well. I miss layaway. I would buy clothes, Birthday, Christmas, and things that I wanted but was afraid would be sold out by the time I saved the money.
  22. UPDATE: Belk's---wanted boots but they were sold out of size and type boot my daughter and I needed. Academy Sports--pair of boots for my daughter Went to Cracker Barrell to eat. Had to feed my husband who doesn't really enjoy Black Friday shopping. Gander Mountain---found boots for the boys, but they were sold out of their size (thankfully I was able to order it online for them). We also picked up a filet knife for each of the boys. Target--a couple of board games for my daughter Shoe Dept--a pair of boots for myself Walmart (again)--artificial fishing bait and a reel (70.00 reel) for one of the boys. Neither of these were on sale, but we went ahead and picked it up since we didn't have any kids with us. I think that is everything. Honestly this is one of those years that money is tight so the kids had very specific things they wanted and it was a tight BF budget. There were no big items to get (other than the trampoline and my daughter bought that with her own money). So, overall, I believe that it was a successful 2 days of shopping.
  23. Sunny and in the high 60's today. Right now (8:06 PM local time) it is 58 degrees. Way too warm for Thanksgiving, even in Alabama. Tomorrow it will be 70 degrees with only a 10% chance of rain.
  24. I ordered the Cinderella movie and the Frozen Karaoke CD from Amazon. I ordered my daughter a Wii, a Kirby game for the Wii, and an Xbox 360 controller (since my kids are all sharing one controller) from Gamestop.com. I got the controller free. I went to Walmart and got the trampoline. That is the only thing I needed from there so we are already home. However, we are leaving around 2:00 in the morning to head about an hour away to do the rest of our Black Friday shopping. I will update when we get home.
