  1. https://www.amazon.com/Supplies-Fishbowl-Confetti-Containers-Homemade/dp/B07DN674XP/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1540361519&sr=8-10&keywords=slime+supply+kit My 12 year old daughter would love this. She loves making all kinds of slime. Something like this would keep her busy for hours!
  2. This is how we are as well. Since our boys were 8 1/2 years older than my daughter, the number of gifts never matched. My sons are now 20 (one is married) and my daughter is 12. There was a time when we could spend around 1000.00 for our two sons (before our daughter was born), but after she was born things got harder financially so we spent around 400 on all three of them. That first year our daughter was only two months old, so we spent around 50-75.00 on her (mostly things she could play with later but before her first birthday). Our boys got a bicycle that year and a few games and DVDs. They were just as happy as the years before. When our daughter was younger we always spent more on the boys for gifts because they wanted bigger items and our daughter's things cost less. Now, our daughter's stuff costs more, so since the boys can buy for themselves, we spend a little more on her. This year, I am hoping to have around 800-1000 for all of them. We will probably spend around 150-175 each on one son and his wife, around 200-250 for our son that lives at home and around 300-400 on our daughter. We are getting a Nintendo Switch, but that is going to be a family gift. Of course, our sons buy what they want since they both work and it's been that way for several years. We don't buy things for our daughter throughout the year either (mostly birthday and Christmas). We pay for her violin, violin lessons, and piano lessons. I will buy her a pack of gum or some candy but I don't buy other stuff. If she wants something she has to save her money to get it.
  3. We've almost always bought from a tree farm (with the exception of maybe two years) and we've never had any trouble with bugs. But, this year we are going to buy an artificial because it is just so expensive to buy a live tree every year just to toss out (we have a lake behind our house and always put it in there). It has gotten hard to find the time to go get the tree over the last few years and it has ended up being mid-December before we can go. I like to put our tree up the weekend before BF or the weekend after.
  4. Thank you. I do have a Sam's Club membership so I will be on the lookout.
  5. Thank you. Do you know if they usually carry Ross or Starbucks giftcards? The closest CVS or Walgreens is at least 40 minutes from us, but I would pick up a few other things in that area while I am there.
  6. We usually open gifts Christmas morning. This year, however, I volunteered to work 12 hours Christmas Eve and 12 hours Christmas Day. I work at a local 911 center (small center) and most of my co-workers have small children. I have two grown kids and a 12 year old. I also get paid overtime for working holidays...lol. Anyway, so I am not sure when we will open gifts this year. I will be working 7 a.m-7 p.m. My mom passed away last August and last year we went Christmas morning to my dad's to open all of our gifts so he wouldn't have to be alone on Christmas. We usually do Christmas with my in-laws Christmas night. I really don't want my dad to be alone Christmas day though, so I may see if my husband and the kids (at least my daughter) will go over there that morning and eat breakfast with him or have lunch with him. It just depends if any of his friends/family invites him over for Christmas. One of our sons also got married earlier this year so I'm not sure what their plans are. So, things are still up in the air right now. I know we will still have our kids (who live at home) to open a gift Christmas Eve night as is tradition, but other than that not sure this year.
  7. We have a 32 inch now and we are thinking of getting a bigger one if we can get one around the 150.00 range. My son needs a new TV in his room too. His is about 10 years old and the buttons just don't work very well anymore, the remote doesn't work very well, and the HDMI ports don't work. I will get him at least a 40", maybe a bigger one if the price is right.
  8. No playing airsoft in our house either..lol. It was just one of those crazy accidents. He was just changing the battery because he and some friends were getting ready to go into the woods to play.. It was an interesting article.
  9. One of my sons and his wife has requested that we get them gift cards for Christmas. I am not big on giving gift cards as Christmas gifts to my immediate family (I just enjoy the hunt for the perfect Christmas present) but they just got married in March and they live in an apartment. Both are requesting Ross Gift cards and my daughter in law is requesting Star Bucks gift card as well. I plan on spending around 150-200 each on them. I am probably going to break down and buy our other son a few gift cards as well. I plan on getting him a new TV for his room too. I know there are sites that sell at a discount, but I was wondering if any stores have BF sales on gift cards. Thank you
  10. This is how we've done most years too. Like you, things will be different this year and I'm not sure how to handle it..My son got married in March. They live here locally but it brings another family to try to squeeze into Christmas. I also volunteered to work 12 hour shifts Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (I work in our local 911 center) since most of my co-workers have younger children and my youngest is 12. I had also offered to work Black Friday but I've decided against it since I'm working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (the newest employee had said she'd work but I kind of wanted the overtime pay, but the more I think about it the more I want off..lol) I am not sure if we are all gonna try to get together Christmas Eve when I get off or wait until Christmas Day. Or if my husband, daughter, other son, and I will just open gifts alone. My mom passed away last year, so I'd like to do all of our Christmas at my dad's with all of our family, but not sure if that will work or not. We'll just have to see.
  11. Lol. Those older women can definitely be dangerous..
  12. We've done real Christmas trees every year since our boys were 5, I think. But, this year, I told my husband I want an artificial tree so I can use it year to year and I don't have to wait on him to go pick it up..lol. It will also save money every year when money is the tightest. It looks like I will be scoping Home Depot's ad this year..lol Do you know what size it is?
  13. My daughter wants a hoverboard. She has been saving her allowance money and money her paw paw gives her. She had a birthday last week and got money too. So, she is trying to patiently wait until BF to get one. But, of course, I told her that we will be on the lookout for one before then too.
  14. I would have to say Walmart for in-store and Amazon for online.
  15. That always bothers me too. What's even worse is the parents yelling and cussing at the young kids because you know they are just very tired. My daughter went BF shopping with me at Walmart for the first time when she was 8 or 9 (can't remember). Even then, it was because she had saved her money to buy herself a trampoline. My husband and our older boys went (they were 16 or 17). I let her walk around the store with her brothers for a while and then when it started to get more crowded she had to come stand in line with me because I just was not comfortable with her being around the big rush. My husband grabbed a few things and then met me. He took her to the car while I paid for everything. She went BF shopping with my friend and I last year, but not to Walmart. My husband and I went to Walmart and she stayed with my dad. Then, we picked her up and came home and slept for a while. We got up around 3 and went out of town to do the rest of our shopping. She told me earlier that she doesn't think she wants to go BF shopping this year..lol. She was 11 at the time, but she is not my shopper. I think she enjoyed it for a while, but got tired. I did have to take my boys with me when they were 5. Another friend and I went. She had her two boys with her too (4 and 5 at the time). We put them all in one buggy so one of us could keep our eye on them at all times. Of course, this is back when we had the 5 AM openings (which I really miss). We also live in the south so we don't have to deal with extremely cold weather either.
  16. I buy at least 4-6 towels and some bath cloths every year. Usually just the cheap ones from Walmart. I also always buy DVDs.
  17. I guess the main deal I'd like to see is for a laptop. It doesn't have to be a gaming laptop, but needs to be able to run Roblox, Minecraft, and a few other online games. It also needs to have a DVD drive. I would like to stay at the 300-400 mark.
  18. Not really sure about a budget yet. I am hoping to have at least 1500.00 but not sure. Some of that (around 200-300) will be a laptop for my daughter for her school work. I have two sons, one daughter in law, a niece, a nephew (who will be almost 1 by Christmas), my dad, and my husband. I am also hoping to buy a few things for our house (for home improvements).
  19. Yeah, I really don't look for the system to be on sale, but am hoping for at least a bundle. They used to have good bundle deals on BF on game systems, but I've noticed that it just doesn't happen much anymore. After I posted this, I saw an ad for Gamestop and they have a new "bundle" coming out, but it really isn't any cheaper than buying the system and the game. It is a Super Smash Brothers bundle. We have a gift card to Gamestop right now, and I have some games to trade in so I will use that toward the purchase of either the system or games for the system.
  20. We have been wanting to buy a Nintendo Switch for our family. I have been watching prices since it came out and so far there has been no price drop! I am hoping that BF will bring a price drop or at least a really nice bundle deal.
  21. I need at least one laptop, but, if the price is right, I will get two. My daughter needs one that will play Roblox and Minecraft. We homeschool, so it will also be the laptop she uses for all of her schooling (she streams some of her lessons online and we will download Microsoft Office). She will possibly use it for streaming Netflix or Hulu as well on occasion. Hopefully I will be able to find one for around the 300.00 mark.
  22. Same for me. My son was changing the battery in his airsoft gun. He thought it was empty and had shook it and everything, but two bullets were lodged somewhere in the gun, and when he put the new battery in, it went off..It shot two bullets right in the side of my TV. It went in just enough to mess up the TV.. So, we've not had a TV in the living room for about 4 months. I almost bought one, but decided to hold out until BF, or at least closer to Christmas, since there are usually decent deals during that time. We have a 32 inch now, hoping to get a good deal on a bigger one.
  23. Harbor Freight, Oct. 10
  24. Happy New Year everyone! It is hard to believe that it is 2018. I am hoping that 2018 is better than 2017.
