Congratulations to the winners!!! -
I do buy myself things on occasion, but it is usually the smaller stuff. Most of our BF shopping is for our kids and I usually have a limited budget.

I think my biggest pet peeve came last year at Walmart. They roped off areas in the store and made one very LONG line running up the middle of the store. Unfortunately, that line was also where many of the BF sale items were. So, it was nearly impossible to get through. Everyone hated it and I am hoping they do something different this year. Another one is people bringing their children and letting them run all over the store or yelling at the kids because they won't quit crying. Hello it is 10:00!!! The kids are tired. Some of them had been there since 4:00!!! It also irritates me to get in front of or behind a loud mouth while in line. Loud mouth meaning someone that is constantly yelling across the store or talking loud because they want to be noticed...lol This is just a few of my pet peeves. Some of them have already been covered

I was able to get the XL3DS for 150 at Target last year. I remember Gamestop had a few 3DS bundles for about the same but can't remember what games.

Have you ever or Would you ever Camp Out for Black Friday Deals?
starbeck96 replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
No I have never camped out and never would. We always have Thanksgiving dinner with my husband's family. We used to eat Thanksgiving evening, back when BF was actually BF. Now we eat around noon so that those who want to go BF shopping can. I do get to Walmart at least 3 hours early though. I do remember sitting outside waiting outside one year, against the wall at Walmart. I can't remember if it was BF or if it was for a gaming system. I think my friend and I sat there for like 5 hours.. -

One of my tips is, if you are able to, go scope out the store the day (I try to go around 10:00 P.M.) before to get an idea of where things are going to be. Our Walmart usually starts setting up for BF that night. I also advise you to take someone with you if able. Then, get together with them and make a game plan. Don't wait until you get in the store to do that. Check BF ads and compare. Make sure you go for the most important item first. It is easier if you have 4 or 5 people with you and each person is responsible for certain things (especially if several of you are looking for the same item). I also advise that you get in and out of each store as quickly as possible (especially if you are trying to get to multiple stores within a certain amount of time). Always have a backup plan. Most of the time you are not able to get every item on your list. Always cover your items with a jacket or something while in the buggy. I've had things taken out of my buggy in the past. Most importantly, HAVE FUN and ENJOY! -
Do you and your spouse agree on gifts for your kids?
starbeck96 replied to shopping4my3son's topic in 2014
I am the one that does the shopping since 90% of my Christmas shopping is done on BF and he hates BF shopping. But, I usually discuss the options with him. Since the boys are older now, he helps a lot more with them. I usually do ask his opinion on most gifts though, unless it is an unadvertised something, or I am unable to get what we originally planned on. We are getting all of my kids an xbox 360 w/Kinect (the Kinect is actually for my daughter more than the boys). That is the only game system I was going to get, but I am now thinking about getting the Wii mini as well. My daughter said that she'd rather have those than a tablet or computer. -
Thank you. The main reason they say not to get it is because it doesn't have online capabilities. I read the comments on the site and someone said that the Wii online play was shut down by Nintendo anyway. Online play is not really a big factor for us anyway. My daughter is 8 and would not be allowed to use the online features anyway. I think another reason they don't recommend it is because you can't access Netflix either, which doesn't affect us either. Do you know if there are any other negatives?

What is the difference between the mini Wii and the regular Wii? Do you think there will be any sales on the mini Wii BF or at least a good bundle?

Black Friday Game Plan... How do you make yours?
starbeck96 replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
Of course, I use Gottadeal to see all the ads early. Then, I make a list of everything that I see in the ads that interests me. After, all of the ads are out, I take my list and make a spreadsheet. This helps me see who has like items the cheapest. I just look at the list over and over and make my final selections. I also have a back-up plan in case I miss out on a deal.. -
I usually get a Walmart Gift Card and put about half of what I intend to spend, at Walmart, on it. That way, if I am not able to get what I want from Walmart, I don't have all of that BF money tied up in a specific gift card. This year I am thinking about putting some money on my pre-paid Blue Bird card. It is American Express though, so not everywhere takes it. I always take at least half of my BF money in cash as well. I had to replace my debit card earlier this year because of the Target breach.
-
I am also hoping to find the Xbox 360 w/Kinect. My daughter as wanted one for a while and we feel that this is the year to get her one. I wish that I would have gotten her one the year that they were on sale for 199 with a 50.00 gc. I do agree that this will probably be the year for sales on the Xbox 360 and PS3. I would consider getting a PS3 for my boys. They are still playing on the Gamecube. They have a PS2, but it has quit working now.

For about 10-11 years I went with my best friend. Unfortunately things happened and we aren't very close anymore. The past 2 years I went with my cousins wives. This year, I am planning on going with a friend from church. Her husband has to work this year and won't get to go with her, so I asked her if she'd like to go with me.

Overall, I really think that the ads were not as great as in times past. There were still several things that I found I needed, but I had to visit many stores to find them. I do not like the earlier opening times. I miss being up on Black Friday at 3:00 in the morning to shop all day long. I was not nearly as tired while shopping. Every store that I visited was very friendly and fairly organized, other than Walmart. This was the worst that I've seen our local Walmart store. They barricaded part of the store, so everyone was basically walking in one direction. I just wanted to get to the other side of the store and it took me almost an hour. We live in a small town too, so this was quite a shock to me. They had everyone, whether checking out or still shopping going the same direction. I did like the arm bands better though.

I wonder how long it will take for them to credit the 50.00 to your account?
-
Can anyone tell me if you can watch Amazon Prime on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 or 3? I just chatted with a staples rep online and they couldn't tell me. Thank you.
-
Thank you. I read somewhere that you can't watch amazon prime videos if you have an android tablet. The downside is that the kindles don't have a camera.

Can you watch youtube on the kindle fire?
-
Okay now I am really confused since seeing that Staples has 50.00 off tablets 149.99 or more. They have a Kindle Fire (8GB) that would be 119.00 (I believe) after 50.00. they have a Nexus that would be 129.50 after and it is 32 GB. I have a Hisense Tablet on layaway that is quadcore and is 16 GB with option for mini SD card. I just don't know what to do. I don't know very much about Tablets. I will be getting 2 of them for my 15 year old sons. They do not do many games and will mostly use it for facebook and youtube. I need your help.. Or, do I pay a little more and get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3?

oh okay. Well, I clicked it as soon as it said add to cart. Oh well. I am on the waiting list so maybe??!!
