  1. I've had good luck with my BF purchases. The only thing I've ever had to return from Black Friday due to it not working properly were some RC cars, so no biggie. I did hear from quite a few people who bought the off-brand tablets from places like Kohls that those things are junk and either were returned or just thrown away.
  2. Our Lowes doesn't open until Friday morning and I'm asleep by then, so if there's anything I want, I order it for store pick-up and then go grab it when I wake up. Not every single item is available online for that but most are. A couple years ago they had a great deal on a fire pit, so I purchased it online around 1 a.m. and then picked it up at 10 a.m. when I was up and moving again. I feel bad for the stores who release their ads late in the game, because everyone is starting to come up with a game plan now and sometimes these guys get left out if you don't see the ad until last minute. I know I was waiting on Lowes for a few things and now have decided to just get them elsewhere so I don't have to keep holding up my plan.
  3. Now that most of the ads are out, I think we're all making our BF Game Plans to a certain extent. I'm wondering where you'll be going and what you're hoping to get your hands on this year. Anyone planning on waiting in line? Anyone skipping the stores and doing just online shopping this year? Here's what my plan looks like: **EDIT: I have to make some changes to my gameplan because I can't seem to stop buying stuff. I already got the Sega throwback game thingy, and Target has a 6-ft unlit tree for $20 this week that I picked up instead of waiting for that prelit one (I would rather do my own lights), so those things are off the list. Also, after reading reviews I've decided against that Duck Hunter plug-in game for the kids. Hmm...I need to edit my plans. I'll be checking Amazon all Thanksgiving week to try to score some of the DVD and video game sales like last year. That saved me a lot of the headache of trying to get near the movies and games in the stores. Fingers crossed they can match that $10 on Turbo that Target is offering. We'll see! As for BF itself: After the family heads home with full bellies, we're going to watch a little bit of the Steelers game and try to avoid the first crush of doorbuster shoppers. With my brother as my copilot, I would like to leave the house around 9:45-10:00pm and start with Target. Target: Turbo $10, Back to the Future trilogy $13, B2G1 Skylanders Swap Force Figures, iTunes Gift Card Pack, Hotel Transylvania $4, five pair of men's sleep pants at $5 each, some jersey scarves at $5 each, a few of the women's sleep sets at $10 each, Crayola Color Cube $12. Walmart: two packs of the barstools at $50 a pack, a few of the Scent square packs at $5 each, Ice Age Continental Drift $5. Then I will run out the door because I hate WM. Lol Then I'm heading home to get some sleep. The next morning I plan on heading to Kohls for some things I was planning to get anyway, so I can get them and take advantage of the $15 Kohls cash for every $50 spent. I want some pajamas for my mom, sweaters, jewelry, etc. Why not do it then and get the extra Kohls cash for later, right? And maybe I'll see some sweet deals while I'm in there.
  4. Crap, they have a 2-pk of bar stools for $50, exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I'll have to hit WM. Darn it.
  5. I've heard there were a lot of them closing. I have a Kmart about 8 minutes up the road and another about 15 minutes down the interstate. They're both disorganized and poorly lit, but they're there. But my two local Sears are both at the malls and they're out of the way for me on BF. I don't do mall shopping that day.
  6. I always just do a $10 Starbucks card for each teacher. We have two Starbucks in town so they can pop in and grab a few coffees on us. I don't embellish it with anything, I just put them each in a nice little envelope and have my kids deliver them. They always love it.
  7. I'm waiting for Lowes too! That's the last Big One I need to see before I can make my plan.
  8. I'm hoping Amazon puts some stuff up at these prices like last year, especially the games and movies. I was able to get most of what I wanted from them and not have to worry about trying to fight my way towards the game and DVD pallets. I guess that's about it for me as far as WM goes, just based on my wants this year. I was hoping to avoid them and just run out to Target, looks like that's the plan!
  9. I just woke up to snow and the WM and Kohls ads!? That's my kind of morning. Now if only Starbucks delivered.
  10. Yeah, but Sears is out of my way for BF and I don't order online from anywhere other than Amazon (I'm spoiled with my Prime shipping) so I just stick with my local Kmart. It's right along my shopping path for BF.
  11. Thanks! I've never tried to PM anything there so I wasn't sure what the deal was.
  12. Does Target PM on BF? Like if I have the printed ad from a store who has a sale happening at 9pm and I'm in Target instead at 9pm can I get that item at that price? Just covering my bases.
  13. Hmm...I like the circular saw for $30 and I wouldn't mind getting each of my boys a Mario RC car. Might stop there after Target unless I see a better saw in the Lowes ad.
  14. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! This is one I've been waiting for!!! I'm in for the Turbo DVD for $10, the B2G1 Skylanders, the pack of iTunes GC's,Back To The Future set for $13, maybe that Duck Commander game for the kids' upstairs TV (they don't have a game system or cable on that one, just the DVD player), the $12 Crayola Color Cube, the $30 Christmas tree, some jersey scarves, womens $10 sleep sets, and the $5 mens sleep pants. Looks like no 2 for $50 bar stools for me this year, unless I'm just missing them. That bungee chair for $20 is awesome, btw! My son has one and we spent $30 on it. It's very sturdy and comfortable. He uses it for gaming. It holds 250 lbs I think. I might pick up another one for my 15-year-old brother at that price.
  15. Ok, so the closer we get the more I seem to be adding to my list. Remember last year when Target had those 2-pks of bar stools for $50? I'm hoping they do that again because I need 4 new stools. So that's on the list for now until I see their ad. I'm also of course looking for DVDs for the kids, a power drill and circular saw, that Sega throwback game system I missed out on at BF price last year, sheet sets for both a full and king size bed (we'll see, I've never been able to get them before), PS3 games, maybe some of the pajama pants for my littlest guy who suddenly had a growth spurt, possibly a cheap small Christmas tree to replace our old small one that we put in the playroom (4 ft), and some board games. How did I end up with a list this long?
  16. I'm thinking about putting ours up a little early this year since Thanksgiving and Christmas are so close together. My thought is maybe getting the big living room tree set up the weekend before Thanksgiving so we can enjoy it with the family here on turkey day. (Get us all in the shopping spirit for BF!) But maybe waiting on the smaller tree for the playroom and the rest of the inside decorations until the day after BF. We have fake trees because I'm allergic to pine.
  17. Here's what I'm hoping Santa brings me this year: Boots (I've got my eye on a few different pairs) A new bike New inline skates a Blu-Ray player (I know, I'm behind the times. But now we have this 55" giganto TV and I'm like ok, maybe it's time.) Little Mermaid Diamond Edition Blu-Ray (don't judge me) Sweaters Scarves Amazon GC for books iTunes GC for music Pajamas Cute coffee mugs Boardgames: Jenga Boom, Uno Blast, and Quelf
  18. I'm dying for the whole ad. Do you think this teaser means we'll see it soon?
  19. Another throwback Sega console...Which store opens first, Walgreens or Dollar General? Do we know?
  20. Thanks, I just saw it again in the Dollar General ad. Maybe I have a good shot of actually getting one this year.
  21. OMG I love them all! But my MUSTS are: A Christmas Story Christmas Vacation Miracle on 34th Street (original version) Home Alone and Home Alone 2 How The Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon) Scrooge (Albert Finney) A Christmas Carol (Patrick Stewart) And of course all the tv specials like Santa Claus is coming To Town and Jack Frost
  22. When my brother was in college, gift cards for restaurants were always a big hit since he was "starving and broke." Lol
  23. I was on the hunt for one of those Sega Genesis consoles last year and everyone sold out around here. Maybe I'll be able to get my hands on one this time around if I play my cards right. DH would love to have one, and I can't justify spending more than $30 on it.
  24. I'm getting ready to start my wrapping too! I do put the name-tags on right away but I save all the bows and ribbons until Christmas Eve when I'm loading everything up to go to my family, and I save all the bows and ribbons on the kids' gifts until Santa puts them under our tree. That way nothing gets smooshed. I keep a list of what I bought for everyone though, so I don't end up buying doubles of anything. It's easy to forget what you've wrapped. I keep them in totes in my closet until our little family tree goes up in the playroom and then they come out. I keep the kids' gifts in totes in the basement and obviously they don't come out until Santa gets here to put them under our big tree. If it's an awkwardly-shaped gift I have a little table I put them on and cover them with a sheet so they don't get dusty or anything. So even if you don't have totes or boxes to put your wrapped gifts in, you could put a sheet on the floor or a table and stack the gifts there and cover them with a sheet until you're ready to put them out. Have fun wrapping! I bought the Kelly Clarkson Christmas album to listen to while I wrap today!
