  1. We start at Walmart, then head right across the street to Target. We can get there before it opens even if we spend 45 minutes in Walmart, so that's always nice. After Target we head across the parking lot to Kohls. Depending on the ads, the next stop will either be TRU or Kmart. Then we call it a morning and head to breakfast!
  2. There are quite a few things that I'm interested in on the list, but none of them are make-or-break things. I was hoping for a lot more in the way of toys. But this is great! Thanks for posting!! :)
  3. I have 38 people on my list this year!! Hubby gets off easy, I'm the only person on his list! lol Our son (4 1/2) - most important! Hubby My side: Mom and Dad Brother (20) Brother (10) Gram and Pap Uncle His side: Mom and Dad Brother and Wife Sister and Husband Nephew (6) Niece (5) Niece (2 1/2) Nana Great Aunt Friends Allison Donna and Mike Kevin Josh Kenny Susan Friends' Kids Boy (11) Girl (3) Girl (1) Girl (2 months) Misc My boss Mail Carrier Son's 2 teachers 4 neighbors (we buy for families)
  4. The game plan thus far is Walmart, Target, Kohls, and Kmart on the way home. If any really good deals pop up in the meantime, we will work those into the plans! :)
  5. I think both series can play together...I'm doing the same thing as you. My son and my baby brother both want this stuff and I have no clue what I'm doing! And no one has it! I have one ball. One. lol
  6. We do the same thing! In fact, what I've started to do is set out a pretty platter of cookies with some bows on it for Christmas morning. As soon as Jake's done opening his gifts, DH and I start putting them together and we all dig in to some cookies! I try to make them really pretty and special. It's so easy, and we eat at my Gram's and my MIL's on Christmas day so we don't need a huge breakfast.
  7. Just wondering what everyone's kiddo's are asking for this year! Doesn't matter if they're 4 or 24, I'm just curious! It's always cool to see everyone's different tastes! I have a 4 1/2 year old son, and here is his list: Bakugan stuff Transformers animated series toys Hulk Smash Hangs Imaginext Batcave Imaginext Fire Station Bike (Cars or Transformers) Hot Wheels tracks Monster Trucks Board Games: Hungry Hungry Hippos, Spongebob Operation, Sorry Sliders, Guess Who Wall-E, Kung Fu Panda, Bee Movie Lego Spongebob stuff, Lego Airplane, stuff to make Lego cars Remote Control car
  8. I'm dying to get the Target ad too! Shouldn't be much longer now before we have it!!!!!
  9. Holy crap, that was awesome! Can you imagine being that guy's neighbor? lol
  10. My hubby and I went through this when we moved in together 8 years ago! We got a 4 ft. pre-lit tree at walmart, all of the tree ornaments at Dollar Tree, and some little odds and ends at Big Lots. All in all it was probably around $200 for everything. Some of that stuff still goes out every year, even though we're a long way from that young couple in the one-bedroom apt. :)
  11. I started about a week ago. I checked in with the Sounds of the Seasons channel on my digital cable and it was Christmas music! I ended up leaving it on for about an hour that day. Then this weekend a local radio station ran a "Trim a Tree Weekend" so I had the radio on in the kitchen all weekend. Now I have the Christmas Bug bad!!!!
  12. it's just my mom and I, so we take my Durango. It's HUGE and has plenty of room for all of our goodies! We put a wreath on the front of it for BF and call it "Santa's Sleigh". lol!
  13. Wow. I am totally not that organized. lol.... I have a wrinkled ad in one hand and a scribbled list in the other. I might try to get a little more put-together for this year.
  14. I like to get festive with a Christmas shirt, and since we start at Walmart and don't have to wait outside, it's usually a T-shirt. I'll also have a sweatshirt or sweater in the car because after Walmart we have to wait in line at Target for about 1/2 hour. So jeans, Christmas shirt, Christmas earrrings, Christmas socks, and a Santa hat. Coat, warmer shirt, etc just depends on the day.
  15. We set a budget, same amount for each of us. If one person goes over, the other person gets more money to match up. We usually keep it cheap, around $30-$50. We like to concentrate more on Santa gifts for our son.
  16. That's awesome!! And that stock footage got me even more pumped for BF!!!!! lol
  17. We always had stockings when I was growing up. They went up the day we decorated and Santa filled them on Christmas Eve. I have the same tradition in my house, with a twist. We put up stockings for my hubby, me, our son, the dog, and the cat. Santa fills our son's, our son fills the pets', and my parents come over a few days before Christmas to fill mine and my husband's. And I fill my parents' stockings on Christmas Eve. It's a nice way for them to still be my "Santa" after all these years, since I don't open my stocking until Christmas morning. And I must admit, it's still exciting for me to wake up to some surprises, lol.
  18. I wrap up a box of chocolate covered cherries for her and leave it in the mailbox a few days before Christmas.
  19. I request it off every year. I either use a vacation day or just take the pay loss and have the day off, doesn't matter to me either way. My boss knows to expect my request-off letter in June! lol Thanksgiving is a paid holiday but not Black Friday for me.
  20. I do bring some cash with me, usually $300-$500, but I also have my debit card with me just in case. I like to deal mostly in cash because you never know if credit card machines are going to have problems, but I'm also not comfortable carrying a large amount of money on me. I keep it in my wallet, which is zipped, in a zippered inside part of my purse, and then zip up the outside of my purse as well. By the time someone gets to my wallet, I'll notice! lol
  21. Oh! And my coffee!!!! Can't start Black Friday without it!!
  22. We don't have to wait outside because our Walmart is open 24 hours, but we do get there about 2-3 hours before the sales start. I bring my mom, my ads, my lists & extra pens, cell phone, and comfy slippers to wear until the sale starts. That's about it!
  23. I'll be in Washington, PA at Walmart!!! Then either Target or Kohls, depending on the ads.
  24. Hi! My name is Mandi, I'm from Strabane PA, and I am not new to this site, but new to the forums! I've been married to my best friend for 5 years, we have a 4-year-old son, and I am 3 months pregnant with our second! The holiday season is my favorite time of year! I love the Christmas music and the shopping! I do my Black Friday shopping with my mother, and the main people the I buy for are the kids in the family: my son (of course), my 2 brothers, 2 neices and a nephew! I tend to stay away from electronics and concentrate on toys! Have a wonderful holiday season, everyone!!!
  25. My mom and I clean off the table around 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and lay out all of our ads. We usually have a pretty good idea of what we're doing, but this is when we finalize. We make lists, discuss game plans, and always consider trying another store first before inevitably deciding that we're sticking with Walmart first. lol Then I pick her up around 2:30 a.m. and we get a HUGE cup of coffee at Sheetz on the way to Walmart. I pack some snack like pop-tarts and stuff for breakfast. After we shop til we drop, we head to Bob Evans for brunch and look over all of our reciepts. Then the decision is made whether to try any other stores or whether to call it a morning. (We usually call it a morning.) I love Black Friday!! I just hope I'm not throwing up all over the place this year, as I'm 3 months pregnant!! lol
