  1. I think because I do so much online shopping now in the weeks leading up to BF, it hasn't seemed to affect me much. With the 8:00-9:00 openings it did mean that I no longer had to set an alarm for 3 a.m. and try to get moving with a couple hours of sleep, so that's been nice. We host Thanksgiving at our house, and at the end of the night when everyone goes home (around 8-9) my brother and I were able to go on out to the stores and get our shopping done instead of waking up in the middle of the night to grog our way around. But I'm never out for doorbusters, I just try to get what I can at great prices, and it's usually little things like toys, games, movies, etc. Same for my brother. Now, if I were a doorbuster person I would be upset, I think. But I could never choose shopping over spending turkey day with the family. Last year since I was so ill, I did everything online and went to Target around 10-11 am Friday and still got my big Hotwheels set I wanted. So I'm confidant that all the deals won't be gone by the time I make my way to the stores, if I even go out this year.
  2. I haven't seen any of the BIG ads yet, so I can't say. I'm waiting for Target. And of course I'm getting geared up for Amazon to kick it into high gear like they did last year! I don't need TRU this year and so far that's the only one of the BIG guys I see posted.
  3. Ok, I've abandoned GTA5 for my little bro. I ended up going with Bioshock Infinite, which he's been talking about and doesn't have. I got it for $27.99 on Amazon right now, seemed like a pretty sweet deal to me.
  4. Almost done! Whew. Kids are done, brothers are done, mom is done. All I need now is a power drill for my husband, some books for my dad, and some doggy toys for the family dog. So I'm about $100 away from calling it finished. Now to start wrapping....
  5. They're Carters brand and they come in a two-pack.The boys' set has black pants with orange stripes and a top that says Blame it on the Sugar and has a monster trick or treating, and the 2nd set in the pack has all monsters on the pants and top. I saw a lot of them still hanging in our baby/toddlers section today, but I had already bought some for my little guy the other day so I passed. I did find him a Mickey Mouse pumpkin shirt for 90 cents. It's long sleeved and he can wear it to play in, I don't care that it has pumpkins on it. The pajamas I got are the boys ones but they have a set for girls too, I think they had kitties on them or something like that.
  6. Here's my haul from the 90% sale today! Add this to my 70% off haul from the other day and I am all set for next Halloween! I don't have pics of the 70% off stuff and now it's all in totes in the basement. We've got all the prizes, tablecloths, cups, plates, etc for our party. My kids each have their costumes for next year, I've got enough wigs to make costumes for the next few years, and I got some new pumpkin lights, a light-up crow for the front porch, and some stemless wine glasses with a spider design. My mom cleaned up too! I saved $368 but SHE saved $510!! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y182/jakesmommy403/image.jpeg
  7. Question: Can we expect a "newer" game like Grand Theft Auto 5 to come down to BF prices? I was able to score some pretty great games for my youngest brother last year but I don't remember how new they were. Buy now or wait?
  8. Someone set one of the coveted packs of paper towels down in another aisle! I got a 2-pk for 89 cents! Also found some Halloween pajamas in the baby/toddler section at 70% and they're adorable. I went to two Targets and both were at 70 for costumes/decorations and 50 for food. Signs all said 30% though. Weird huh? Dollar spot 70% black dot. There's a Cartwheel for Pillsbury cake mix that works on the clearance too, btw.
  9. Same here, they still have the 30% signs up but it's 50. I'm running up there today for a couple of things and I'm curious to see if we've gone 70%. I might be at 2 Targets today (one sells more food than the other but the other has more clearance, so why not hit both?), and I will report back.
  10. I was amazed at how picked over the Halloween section already was when I got up there at 12:45 today! But I managed to get some great stuff. I always try to get as much as I can for next year's Halloween party, so I concentrate on decorations, tableware, and prizes. Then when it finally hits 90% at either Target or Kmart I get pumpkin carving supplies. So today I got 2 boxes of lights at $1.75 each, 5 packs of paper party plates (pumpkins) $1.25 each, a ton of glow things for 50 cents, stretchy spiders and crayon rings for 50 cents, 2 Lego Star Wars things at $1.99 each, hand towels for the bathrooms 1.99 each, wall art bats (these are going to look so cool) $5, invitations for next year's party 8-pk for 50 cents, spooky labels for drinks 8-pk 50 cents, and some pumpkin placemats at 98 cents each. Also grabbed some cute little 2-packs of Thanksgiving bowls for the kids at 50 cents each. As far as snacks I got one of the boxes of Pirate Booty, a bag of candy corn pretzels, one of the big Goldfish boxes, and 2 of the Jones Soda 4-packs. Oh,and I got a Yoda pumpkin decorating push-in thing for my Star Wars obsessed 9-year-old for our pumpkin carving party next year. Also, for the Cartwheel users, there are some Spritz party supply discounts on Cartwheel today that can be used with the clearance party supplies. I got some packs of napkins for 55 cents a pack! Also, there are so cute Melissa and Doug sets and Crayola stuff at 70% off in stationary. There's also a Cartwheel for 15% off Halloween totes that expires today, so if you can find any left that's a great deal! I managed to find 2 of the 56-quart size and got them for $4.66 each! Look for the orange and purple lids.
  11. The dollar spot Cartwheel expired, that's why you couldn't use it.
  12. They had 30% off Black Dot dollar spot today, and there's a 10% off dollar spot on Cartwheel, so I got a bunch of cute wrapping paper for 63 cents each. Also, it's not clearance but a great deal on boys' pajamas, they have the sets with shirt and pants at $7 and there's a Cartwheel for 20% off kids pajamas so it was only $5.60 for the pajama set.
  13. I just got mine in the mail today with a $10 off $75 coupon on the front.
  14. Found some bras on Clearance today at 70% off. Gillgan O'Malley brand, and you can use the Cartwheel 20% as well so I paid $3.58 each! Pretty sweet deal.
  15. It worked!!! I just got home with my new TV stand! It was marked 70% off and then I used my 20% off TV media stands Cartwheel and my 5% Redcard and I only paid $41 for a $180 TV stand!!! Eeeeeeee!! Thanks for the heads up about Cartwheel! I know this TV stand is on clearance at other stores, too. So if you're looking for one it's a crazy good deal.
  16. Thanks so much! Now I will be stalking my TV stand even more until it hits 70.
  17. Well, I saved $2.15 with Cartwheel today, so that's something. Does it really work with clearance items? I'm asking because there's a TV stand on Clearance that I'm stalking until it goes down a little more, and there's a 20% off TV stands thingy on the Cartwheel. Would I be able to apply it to that? I think it says not on clearance but have you guys been using it on clearance stuff?
  18. I don't have a facebook anymore, so Cartwheel has been off limits to me. However, I just went and made a fake facebook so I could use the Cartwheel app, and today will be my first time trying it out. If it works I'll stick with it. My fake facebook name is Targeta Love. Haha
  19. Just wanted to share that the Lightening Deals have been kicked up a notch in the past couple of days and seem to be heading into holiday shopping territory now. Something to keep an eye on! Most of my best shopping was done in the Amazon Lightening Deals last year. For example, some of the Lightening Deals today are on Barbie stuff and Skylanders Giants figures. With the new Skylanders out, the prices could be pretty sweet on the Giants figures like they were on the first skylanders figures last year when Giants came out. Great way to complete your kid's collection, and the Giants figures work on Swap Force. I believe it was Shroom Boom, Lightcore Shroom Boom, and Lightcore Erupter today.
  20. Picked up some bedding today at 70% off, a 5-piece twin comforter set, and a 450 thread-count sheet/pillowcase set. Also, some fall scent diffusers at 50% off, which I'm pretty excited about. Pumpkin Buttercream and Amber Pumpkin. Saw a Nook at 50% off and a larger color Nook also at 50% off, along with some great cameras in the electronics clearance end cap.
  21. I found some great stuff on a clearance end cap in electronics today! Children's books at 70% off, Assassins Creed for PS3 for $5.98, a lot of covers and plugs for tablets and phones, PC games, Nikon cameras, and there was a lot more that I know I'm forgetting, mostly at 70%, some at 50. I grabbed that ps3 game for my brother and some books for the kids. Back in furniture there were some small chest freezers, toaster ovens, and TV stands at 50% off. Bedding sets all marked down to 70, but pickin's were slim at my store unless you're in the market for "twin XL" size. Kitchen had the same stuff on the end caps, all holding at 50 for the most part with a few things now at 70, just oddsy endsy things like cups and plates.
  22. My first BF was 2005. I saw the ads sitting out at my family's house on Thanksgiving and was blown away by the deals. My first son was a year and a half old and WM had a bunch of fun baby toys I wanted for him, and some shop vacs I wanted for the men in my family. I had to work on BF at 8:00 am, so I headed to WM for their 5 or 6 a.m. opening (can't remember now which time it was) and grabbed my toys and 3 of the shop vacs all by myself, hauled all my crap to my car, and drove straight to work after I was done. That was it, I was hooked. I started requesting every BF off from work so I could plan my attack and hit more stores. I recruited my mom, but she wasn't a huge fan so I recruited my brother in 2007 and he's been my BF buddy since. The times started getting earlier, online shopping started becoming easier, and eventually I had another baby and went on SAHM status and my husband would take a vacation day on BF for me so he could watch the kids. Now here we are 8 years later and I do most of my shopping Thanksgiving evening online and then head out if my brother wants to for a little while.
  23. Keep an eye on Amazon right now, too. My mom and I were at Target last week and she was looking at some Lego sets for my kids and we were price checking them on Amazon. There was a Lego Star Wars set for $60 at Target that was only $43 on Amazon, a few $25 sets that were $20 and some $20 sets that were $14 and $16. If you have Prime it's a steal too since you don't even have to pay to ship them. I know they aren't huge discounts but with Legos I'm always happy to save even just a few dollars.
  24. Ok, I've been moving along with my shopping! Very happy to report that: DS4 - DONE! (Whaaat!!? Earliest I've ever been done with a kid!) DS9 - Only need Skylanders Swap Force and 2 3DS games then done! Mom - Got a great deal on a kitchenaid cookware set at Macys! DONE! DH - a few oddsy endsy things, still need a main present So all I need to look for are things for my two brothers and my Dad, and DH's main present. Then some little things like gifts for the dog and teachers. Boom!
