Printed mine first day this popped up, took it to my store like wednesday or thursday, cashier scanned it and it just worked, no questions, no special keys, nothing.

Well, went by today for "entire store on sale", "up to 30% off" What it meant was anything that people might actually want was marked "10% off", and that was off raised prices. Things no one wanted were 20-30% off. Only exception were a few books on programming, or vista, or game guides of actually newer games, and were 30% off. Lots looking, but like me, lots leaving store empty handed. Guess we will have to wait to see if they start offering some real deals.

ATI has the 3850 and the 3870 positioned very well. The nice thing with them is that you can use AMD's Overdrive built in overclocking to OC the entire system using an amd chipset, GPU and CPU. It is now an entire platform, and to get the best out of it you use the whole platform, but unlike ye ole dell, it is not proprietary, you can use a different GPU if you want. I dont think they are on the outs at all. ATI is just trading Half's w/ Nvidia right now IMHO. 1H08-probably ATI, 2H08-probably Nvidia lead.

the 512 GTS (g92 flavor), or a 512 GT? For price and perf difference I have seen, I am looking to see about maybe finding a 512 GT when i can afford it, or maybe the next ATI offering so I can overclock it all together w/ the Phenom I will get. Any clues what is next after the Phenom 9900's?

I tell my family things that are on my wish list, things that I will get around to buying, but dont need today or I would go get them. i.e. a new set of frying pans, an 8800GT OC2 card, etc. They are my close family so I have no problem w/ this. For extended family, or friends I do feel a little guilty if I were to tell them "what i want".

I can rembember that when I was starting to get more $$$ presents, I started also getting (and still get) socks and holiday boxers as presents too.

Office Depot: Toshiba P205D-S438 is AMD x2, 17" for $600. Looks fine, but as always, I would upgrade it to 2GB of ram. I will keep looking for other deals. Any more details you want to add? at 17" w/ and X2, and under $700 does slim things down a bit if you want something decent, but did not know if there was any other determining factor for you.

When they closed the 126 earlier this year, they marked up then marked down merchandise (to around normal prices) & did lots of promotions about it being on huge sale. It was really to drive in people who didn't know better, then they shipped what they didn't sell to the stores that stayed open. This time, they cant do that, they wont have any stores open to ship it to #1, and #2 they have already sold the company, so they are going to be fine with actually selling stuff on sale to get rid of it and get what $ they can. Going to drive the 20 min to one around here and see what if anything is actually going on, have some buddies who can fill me in. Besides, I am looking for a raptor hard drive anyway.

Yup, due to further declining quality, high pricing of non-teaser models, declining and outsourced CS, etc Dell is dropping market share and profit the past few years, and looking for any ways to recoup it. Buying Alienware only helped so much.

Go to their "marketplace" link on the website, it is full of complaints of non-ship now. I wonder if they ran as a "legit" business for a few months, got people pulled in, then started taking the money and not delivering, waiting as long as possible before the feds come before taking down the site & sending all $$$ overseas.

Go to office depot tomorrow and check out: Toshiba Model A215-S7422 #635205 for $550 or HP Model DV6660SE #598965 for $860 first one will take care of your needs, second one will take care of your needs and should be plenty fast enough.
