  1. very cool, checking mine out tomorrow.
  2. Hey, I represent that remark!! :)
  3. Nice, I have 15 rebates over thanksgiving and chirstmas, have them all back already.
  4. I went w/ the graco's when she was small, due to being able to use 2+ different platforms but only needing 1 carrier that also did rear-facing and forward facing. After she passed the weight on it, went to the Alpha-Omega Elite, so far it has been great as well.
  5. If compusa near you is closing, they are up to about 20% off any remaining software. Cant hurt to go in the store and check (not online).
  6. check the technology section of the forum, we have a lot of these going.
  7. The athlon is the processor, you want to get an Athlon (x2, 64, etc), Turion, or a Core. These are all names for processors nowadays (and yes they are made to confuse you). You want to avoid Celeron, Sempron and Centrino. These are also processor setups. 1GB is fine for what you listed doing, but as I have told many, buy it w/ 1 GB if you can get it for over $90 cheaper than 2GB and we can easily walk you through getting it to 2GB (for under $90) if you think it is too pokey afterward. For under $1000, there are tons, but w/ your stated needs, you can do w/ under $600. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147523 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220202 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101101 http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebooks/dv6700z_series/rts/4/computer_store/KC323UA%2523ABA http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8668792&type=product&id=1196470448840 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8654057&type=product&id=1196469485969 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8654002&type=product&id=1195600207048 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=999983800050004&type=product&id=pcmprd83700050004 http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?&langId=-1&storeId=10001&splCatType=1&catalogId=10051&productId=206130&cmArea=SC3:CG71:CL161747 each of these are varying amounts under $1000 when I found them just now. They are all decent, on none of them did I search for the absolute lowest price, and stand by my earlier statement that for this week, for your stated needs, the CC $470 deal is about the easiest to get reasonable deal I see with only moderate checking. Yes, CC customer service can be lacking, so pricematch elsewhere, or make sure you dont get your extended coverage (if you buy it) through them.
  8. http://shop4.outpost.com/product/5478779?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG now if I could find this for you for $50 cheaper I would be happy. But you could probably do w/ the $470 F750US at CC I linked earlier.
  9. 1-way overpriced for what you are getting. 2- Celeron, just no. 3. Centrino- no, overpriced. There are lots of differences from Truion, x2's and Cores, but the fact is that they are one class (the good class) of mobile processors The centrino's are overpriced proprietary product sets, (like paying $150 for a pair of fair performing Nike running shoes, compared to $90 for an really go performing New Balance. Nothing is wrong with either, just the Nike's advertise more).
  10. I do. Right now (and this does change) I see most bang for $ in mainstream models (not top or bottom end) in HP/Compaq's and Toshiba's. Sony has been showing as overpriced, and Gateway has been hit or miss. Now, these are average, there are always outlyers. Have had increasingly better HP and Gateway customer service, toshiba about holding steady. Does that answer some of your questions?
  11. As always, the longer you can wait, the better technology you can get for the same $. Anyway can you wait until march? New stepping on Phenom processors, new video cards from ATI and Nvidia, etc are all coming out then and while you would likely not be purchasing any of these, the things below them should see a decent price drop.
  12. Okay, it does sound as if angelic is looking for a very low needs computer. I second pryan about the continuing decline in DELL parts and service. For Angelic's stated needs, it is perfectly fine to go w/ a Vista Home Basic system and forgo the 2GB of ram. The circuit city F750US laptop for $470 probably does a touch more than she needs for example. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c=1&searchType=user&keyword=f750us&searchSection=All
  13. Premium w/ fed only should be $19.99 base Premium Fed+state should be $39.99 Premium Fed+State+e-file is $69.99 base You can find deals less that these prices, but these are the going rates for each item to make sure it is less than. Compusa has shown practices lately on marking up some items then marking them down again, so just watch out.
  14. wow, gotta drop in mine then.
  15. What level? fed only, fed+state, fed+state premium, etc.
  16. What do you want in a laptop? If it is simply as cheap lowend as you can get, go with the Dull laptop. If not & want a good deal as well, let us know.
  17. Have gotten all 7 from BF already.
  18. what age is DD, what type of games.
  19. Buy.com took a while to get me a purchase, but that is only complaint I have had, think it took 10 days and I was expecting it in 7.
  20. naughty and nice...I like it.
  21. where are you?
  22. I have had so many of these types of problems w/ target, along w/ the rude CS department. I have stopped shopping there except a very rare bargin here or there on stuff that is not able to be missing pieces/scratched dvd/wrong size type of thing. Otherwise I have managed to avoid them for normal shopping for almost 9 months now. That new policy as of August just solidified my resolve.
  23. I wanna see some good after christmas brick and mortar sales...where are they all at? I need to get birthday and christmas presents for the upcoming year! Okay, so I wont get more christmas presents for at least 4 more months, but it sounds like a good excuse.
  24. so is the dull working after all this shipping fun?
