  1. Really depends what you want it for. The $700 version comes w/ a wifi card(~$50), TV tuner card & remote(~$150), faster processor(~$60 more), more ram(~$30 more), bigger hard drive (~$40 more). But the vast majority of people will have no use for the tv tuner & remote, and most will not use the wifi, and wont fill the hard drive. That means that you will pay $250 or so more for $90 of benefit. If you plan on using the tuner card, then you will likely use most of the rest, so it is definitely worth it.
  2. great find diznut, this is now my backup plan.
  3. Looks decent, the m8226x desktop from CC for $7xx also has the 6150 SE as it's built in graphics card like many of the ones below it you you want to update it.
  4. for this level of laptop, and the fact that you dont plan on being a "heavy" user, using 4200 ram vs 5300 or 6400 will not be noticible. If the 5300 ram is the right type then the pc will just read it as 4200 as well.
  5. If they are intinsive games (crysis, orange box, WOW, etc) then you need to have then on your internal hard drive that the laptop comes w/. If they are less intensive (sims, monopoly, etc) then internal or external will be fine.

  7. f727 is the platform that the c727 is built off of from what I understand.
  8. Either way, if you want to run a VISTA pc (laptop or desktop), the best investment you can make after getting it is making sure it has 2gb of ram when you go to start using it for real.
  9. Now remember that there are a lot of different Intel motherboard models out there, so unlike AMD, you cant be sure without checking that your processor will work in your motherboard even w/ a bios update. Most intel motherboards out right now are Px35 or 975x motherboards for things like the core 2's. The 45nm cpu's (Q6850?) will fit in a x38 motherboard, while the next set of 45 nm cpu's from intel in 2008 (Q9770 for example) will need an x48 version motherboard.
  10. This model can handle 2 DIMMs, and can take up to 2GB of ram. This means that it will 95% of the time come w/ 2x512 sticks that you can give to a friend while you buy and install 2 1GB sticks of ram in it. The C727 can also take 2GB, but same situation. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01150089&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3548229&rule=42259&lang=en midway down the page, hp/compaq tells you it handles 2 GB (2048 MB) max memory
  11. Got the little tikes cook n learn at toyrus before the walmart sale came out. TRU has it for $89, but then you can use 10% off and $10 off on $75 or more and not have to wait in BF lines at WM.
  12. what exactly did you get for $368?
  13. if not, staples has the Tom Tom One already on sale for $149.
  14. I am with ya, probably a misprint if I had to guess, or put that way because the stores open before normal 11/23 time.
  15. it doesn't help to keep asking...although I am getting antsy as well.
  16. bump bump bump..great find, not really impressed w offerings, but great find.
  17. Possibly, they will sell it to you in store for 149 today though, doing some recon.
  18. On one I use it as 1/2 backup (safety net) and 1/2 extra storage (portable closet)
  19. Did my staples recon tonight
  20. QFTMFT...(see urban dictionary if you dont know what that is) This is exactly right. HP, Compaq, Alienware, ACER, and Gateway I know for sure no longer put these "seals" on the vast majority of thier desktop and laptop comuters in the case opening area. The do sometimes place them on other areas, but not to open the case or add ram, etc.
  21. For anything but their "teaser" cheap machines, my honest opinion after working on many, TRYING to upgrade some, helping customers build computers, and building custom rigs, the answer is NO in my opinion.
  22. All DV6607 laptops from HP ship w/ 6cell batteries.
  23. You can upgrade the memory on virtually every laptop, the problem is going to be price. That will be based on number of slots and how many are used. If you can get me the exact model number, I can answer this rather easily.
  24. I was serious about the machine, not the price or buying it there. It is an awesome machine, but as myself and the OP had discussed, he was not going to touch anything at this pricepoint. I hope no one was thinking of buying it at the price, but it is an example of a very nice laptop.
