  1. Or, of course, just buying the one you want and returning the broken one. A LOT less hassle than dealing with manufacturers.
  2. that explains why they rang up that way, then. They were using a UPC code on an individual box instead of the one on that missing packaging. Since they have the $.69 code in the system for the cafe, it would work.
  3. I agree entirely, but I did know that they changed the policy recently, same as Target. Just buy another one and return the non-functioning one. Or take it to Walmart. They are much more lenient.
  4. Hmmm...at least some of these toys are marked higher than you would normally find them even at TRU let along Target. The GeoTrax stuff is definitely a lot higher. That bridge was normally $14.99 at Target (DS bought it with bday money), and it is $14.99 now at TRU. The Lego Star Wars video grames are on clearance at Lego.com. I'd make sure of the deal first unless you are able to get the extra 20%.
  5. I have often found that items out of stock online have been clearanced, so it is worth asking at a minimum. If it comes up item not found, and they don't want to sell it to you, I would raise a stink and get a manager involved. Try to go during the day when someone higher up than the ones who stand around managing the cashiers is working, too. They can make real decisions.
  6. I get them at least twice a year, and they are usually linked to needing to use my American Express card. But I always get one close to Christmas and close to Mother's Day.
  7. Oh I am SO jealous!!! All our stores sold out quick as can be. Even the ones I thought SURE I would get. Bummer!
  8. Possibly, but unlikely. Just as a guess, they might have been in the process of finishing the markdowns on the plates. I would check the goal again tomorrow if it is convenient simply because today is the normal sporting goods markdown day. if they are behind a day, they might do it tomorrow. I'll try to remember to check for you at my store tomorrow. Also, FYI, if you know the original price of an item, like the pillow, and you know it should have gone through the 75% off process, you could probably easily tell them the 75% off price, remembering that Target ends its final clearance prices with a 4. So in this case it would have been something like $4.24 anyway. You were lucky not to get one of those "I can't sell this to you" types. I don't hesitate when I know what the last price was anyway. Confidence in telling them the price goes a long way.
  9. I'll take what I can get and say bless you for posting them!
  10. I return a fair number of items for my family each year and have had no problem. If I am buying a lot of stuff that I think I might return I either use a different credit card or pay cash. That way you don't have the problem of them tracking it. They can only do it by the credit card, so if you use the same one all the time it could matter. But you have to get to a pretty high threshold before it is an issue.
  11. It could be destroyed or manufacturer return, though destroy seems more likely with soap. This all reminds me of a conversation we had with someone on the list who liked "sticking it to Target" by buying clearance. I had a conversation with a girlfriend of mine who used to b a buyer for Macys in New York the other day. We were talking about Target clearance (I buy for her because she has trouble getting out as much as I do), and she said that no matter what price they sell an item for they are still making money. That is because 1) they have already sold umpteen units at regular price and made a profit, 2) they get discount dollars from the manufacturers for items that don't sell well, 3) they can recoup a chunk for salvage if they need to and 4) they get the tax write-off of donations. A lot of these points came up when we had the discussion, but I hadn't thought about it in quite that orderly way before. And I didn't know about the discount dollars from the manufacturers.
  12. oh, for those of you who can buy wine at your Targets. I bought the Mirassou Riesling for 50% off $4.98 and the Friexienet Brut (sparkling wine) for 50% off $4.98. DH and I are wine drinkers, I think it comes from living in CA so long, and we are picky. These are both good, drinkable wines. We had the Riesling last night with a pork roast. If you are usually a Chardonnay person, the you will probably like the Riesling. It goes with many of the same foods, but is a bit fruitier. The sparkling wine is one we keep in the fridge most of the time just to have around. It is great to pop open when you have even a small thing to celebrate. Just my $.02, but thought I would throw it out there.
  13. I saw them on 75% off clearance Monday. The electronics guy pointed them out to me b/c he knows I am a clearance shopper.
  14. Yes, that is the one. I noticed there were 2 left at my main store and 1 at my secondary store. That one happens to be mixed in with regular priced merchandise on the locked pegs, and it doesn't have a sticker. So....I am still hoping that they do the auto-marking so I can get that one.
  15. has anyone seen whether or not the digital cameras went down today? I was hoping this would be the 50% off day, but they had not been marked when I visited.
  16. There was a coupon in Sunday's sale ad and you do need it. However, I'd check around for another higher value coupon first. They'll still match the competitor coupons until the 4th of November, according to my pharmacist. You might find one for CVS, Rite Aid (they had a $30 one this week), or another store. You just take your old pill bottle to the store and ask them to transfer it. They'll call Walmart and get the info they need. Unless things have changed, Walmart also matches competitor coupons, and you can move it back next month.
  17. If anyone happens to have it in a PDF, I'd love it if you could PM me. I run my computer on Linux, not Windows, so I can't print it.
  18. Certainly worth a try. It could have been marked after the other stuff. I have still seen a few of these in a few stores, so maybe you will get lucky. They ARE heavy and hard to move around, so it is also less likely to sell.
  19. You might want to punch those numbers into the scanner. It ought to be cheaper. I know they clearanced a lot of those out with the main sporting goods clearance a couple of weeks ago.
  20. No. We don't have a SuperTarget or even one with much grocery around here. We have lots of clearance.
  21. plenty of hot wheels, but I only wanted the LPS toy. Unfortunately, they were completely out of those.
  22. That'd be nice. We have a 1200 sq ft house that would sell for about $500k if we owned it. Unfortunately we rent.
  23. Are you sure they were the 10s and not the 15s?
  24. Yes, that is right. But, more often than not, they scan their sheet of items after they are done and mark down things that way in case they missed something. I suspect that sometimes they just miss an item or two that way as well. I have seen it go both ways.
