I know I'll be the first one in line with a mile of people waiting behinde
-
All of them. We literally shop till we drop. I dont' go out at 3am to be home and done by lunch! Last year we shopped from 5am (store opening) till 7pm. We were officially broke and tired.

Crabby shoppers. If you don't know what you're getting yourself into --stay home! If you can't be "Merry and Bright" don't go shopping on the first day of the Christmas season. And please leave the kids at home. They don't want to be there, and the rest of us get sick of stepping over them and listening to them complain. Hire a babysitter the schools are out.

Besides Lowe's and Home Depot, where else can I buy tools on BF?
Princess7915 replied to T Thompson's topic in 2006
Sears!! They always have tons of Craftsmen stuff...but beware get there early!! And in my experience bring lots of patience. They move stuff around and none of the employees knows where anything is! -
I voted Kohl's because they make one line for all the checkouts and then they usually have 2employees "directing traffic." It made a long process as fast as possible because you didn't get stuck behind someone with "issues" in the checkout. Also, last year our Kolhs manager extended the early bird specials! There were so many people in line it was impossible to get checked out by the deadline. It was supposed to end at 11, but they let anyone who was in line by noon have the discounts no matter when you checked out. So 1 person got in line while the rest of us continuted to shop and she bought everyones stuff on her Kohl's card for an EXTRA discount!!!

Buying the day before then returning on Black Friday to get difference?
Princess7915 replied to rdtsmith's topic in 2006
I would imagine that this is up to individual store policy. Some stores will not give you the difference if an item goes on sale after purchase. Some stores give you 7 days. I would call the store you're planning on visiting and ask about the policy. I wouldn't let the store know that you "know" it's going to be on sale. I would just ask if you purchase an item and it goes on sale will they give you the difference back. -
I love Kohls. Partially because of the clothes, but also they have good deals on a lot of other stuff too. I also do well at Penny's. I wait to do winter clothes shopping till BF and know I'll get good deals. Two years ago at Penny's I got a nice cashmere sweater for $25. It was a major deal and still my favorite sweater!!!

I totally think it's unfair that employees get dibs on items. Somebody posted that they should be allowed because they "work all night to bring you what you want" WELL DUH that's their freakin' job!!! I worked at TRU the earl Tickle-me-Elmo was out...and let me tell you. Those things were in the store a good week before the release. Anybody who wanted on just had to "lay-away" and pay for it the day of the release. Left overs went on the shelf (there weren't many) and the shoppers got rain checks which the store KNEW would NOT be filled by Christmas. I thought it then, and think it now...this sucks.

I drive about 20 minutes to my mom's house. She lives right behind a mall and all the other big stores are easily 1 mile radius from the mall. We live in Virginia Beach...sometimes I love the city!!

In my opinion if you are a line saver then you are helping people cut in line. If you don't want to get your butt out in line then the people who do get priority. I speak from the point of view that I am NOT:no:going to wait out in the cold for hours for something. And I would NEVER ask someone to hold a place for me. In all blutness, that's crap. :gdkissass: to all the line cutters!!!

We usually shop at J C Penny first or Sears. Depends on what's in the Penny's ad. We have both in one mall, so we can hit them both. Then we normally go to Kohls, then Walmart -because all the crazy people are gone by then
-
We breakfast at Chick-fil-a and then go home for a leftover's lunch and unload our morning goodies. Then we head back out and usually snack at the mall late in the afternoon.

Penny's and Hechts (now Macy's) usually has like extra 10 or 20% off for certain hours, but you have to be careful because there are usually a lot of exclusions. A few years ago I was able to get my DH a sonicare toothbrush on a really good deal with one of these "extra" coupons though. They will be in the paper, but sometimes there are not with the main sales ad.

Do you Think that it is to early to decorate for the Holiday?
Princess7915 replied to Kay1996's topic in 2006
I swear you see decorations right after stores take down the back to school stuff!!! It really puts me off to see stores decorated so early!!! I mean come on...how hard to you have to push for people to spend thier holiday cash with you!!! They decorate earlier to commercialize more. I'm not a bah humbug kind of person--I love Christmas and shopping but I like it during the actual Christmas season!! -
A Little Humor while waiting for BF to get here.
Princess7915 replied to CrayZMama80's topic in 2006
So the thing to do is video tape your brave friends actually doing these things and them post where we can all see them. -
I am hoping this year is far better than BF 2005. Normally I can get at least 60% of my shopping done...last year I was lucky to have finished 30% on BF. I think the items on sale just were not that great and the sale prices were nothing to write home about. If this year is like 2005, I may be hanging up my BF hat.

Though I usually don't do the angle tree, I always try to pick up a few things toys, gloves and matching scarves, etc. I keep the items in my car knowing at some point I'll come across a charity drop off.
-
Best tip for BF...have fun. It's not a war though it may feel that way. I always try to keep in mind that while certain things I would really like to get-I don't HAVE to have anything. At your most frustrating moments try to remember "This is fun. This is Christmas. Be glad you are able to do this. It may sound cheesy...but it really helps you relax.

Organization? (Do you carry ads with you? What about cash and wallets???)
Princess7915 replied to momof2many's topic in 2006
I am not a fanny packer--but a purse is a necessary evil. I take a shopping list with me everywhere while leaving ads in the car. Ads with coupons go inside the store with me. -
How Many Hours Do You Spend Shopping On Black Friday??
Princess7915 replied to sleepyshopper's topic in 2006
We are normally at a store about a half hour before opening. Last year for example, we were at Penny's at 4:30am. and we didn't call it a day until about 8pm that night. Though we did make a few trips home (we live in the middle of everything) to unload and recoup/snack for an hour or so. We all figure if you're going to get up and go out in the madness then you should do it right!!! -
There is only one reason for me to get up before the sun comes up---and I figure if I can get my own lazy butt out of bed then so can anybody else!! Most people roll thier eyes and tell our group how crazy we are...but I figure there are lots of other crazy people out there so I may as well go and be where I am understood!! If someone gives me too much grief, I don't shop for thier gift that day....

Black Friday... it's a jungle out there. Loving the T-shirt idea guys!! I may make them this year for everyone!!
-
Last year we waiting in line for the $10 card along with many others. When they opened the doors the girl told us only selected stores had them. Then later we found out that the were handing them out on the second floor at an obscure entry that nobody uses. We were very disappointed in how the store handled the whole thing. We saw several people who had waited in line fussing with management. Please also keep in mind that we were lined up at a door that had a note posted on it (from the inside) that said "Black Friday early opening"....as they were not going to open all the doors early.

Haven't been saving for Black Friday like usual because we are paying for a cruise in February!! But it's paid off at the end of September and I need to get crackin!!!
