1. Bought a refurb from ebay. But for the refurb sticker on the box, you couldn't tell it was a refurb. Looked brand new and works great.
2. It depends on what you read. If you like the classics and mass market fiction, you will find more than you can read at most reasonably sized libraries. I joined a library a couple of towns over from us and the Philadelphia library and created a wish list at both with hundreds of books that DD and I would like to read. Now, are all of them currently available? No, but whenever I need a book, one of the two libraries will have something currently available for me to read. Same goes for DD with respect to juvenile fiction. And you can put yourself on the waiting list. Both times I've done that so far, I was able to get the book within 3 days. And I have several friends with nooks now so that I can books all the time. Throw in free books, you'll never be without a book to read.
3. I went yesterday....only up to 50% off clearance. Will try again this Friday.
4. Going to check it out after work today.
5. DD and I got Nooks for Christmas and have used them everyday since. We love them and have had no problems downloading books. We have bought a few and borrowed a few from the library. Both were virtually instantaneous. I've also downloaded lots of free books from B&N and classics from Google. I thought there was a battery problem, but after reading up on it on the web, realized you don't get it fully charged until after the 3rd full recharge and change the settings. Since then, great battery life. The soduku game on it is fun. It also has chess, but I haven't tried that out. You can change the font size. You can add music. I plan on doing that this weekend. I like that you turn the page by lightly doing a turning motion in the touch screen area (but if you prefer, you can also use the page turn buttons). The touchscreen is very responsive. I also like that you can organize your books by bookshelves (mystery, etc....whatever you like). Did I mention we love them?!!! lol Oh, don't forget the B&N freebies. DD and I are going to B&N this week to use our free smoothies coupons.
6. Got this deal yesterday and we will be eating the second pie for lunch today.
7. DD couldn't stop messing around with her Nook.
8. Thanks guys. :) I really like all the other pictures posted.
9. And a few more...
10. Here are a few pics of our decorations. We have a few other things scattered around the house, but these are the main things...
11. I'll post pictures later after I finish holiday cleaning.
12. How about a coloring book or board book, crayons, stickers, or play doh?
13. What kind of white bread works best for this recipe?
14. I thought this would be a good way to share ideas with those not yet done with stocking stuffers and to get new ideas for in the future . . . so here goes... DD11 is getting: toothbrush, vanilla scented body wash and lotion, travel size baby powder, farkel, bananagrams, 3 new think fun games, Burger Island and Dawn of Discovery for Wii, Punky Brewster and E.T. DVDs, fleece hat and glove set, fleece slippers, travel sized brush w/ mirror, cookie on a stick, beef jerky, candy (sour punch straws, a butterfinger, bubble gum balls for her bubble gum ball machine, 3-pack bubblicious), temporary tattoos, 2-pack bath sponges, lip gloss, headbands and pigtail holders, pedicure kit, and mini soccer ball from local pro team. Bought everything from Target $1 area, $1 store, Target BF doorbusters, last minute deals I saw on GD, and the soccer ball was free. She actually has 2 stockings. A 2-foot one that I fill and a regular sized one that "Santa" fills.
15. Just ordered my library card. Your post served as a reminder. :)
16. The Nook or the Sony....she can use Overdrive to download ebooks from her local library. She'd need to check their catalog to see what they offer. I've noticed so far that it is a mix of new and old...decent selection. The bigger the library the system, the better the offerings will generally be.
17. Almost. I will be after tonight. Need to go get my mother another present and a few more stocking stuffers. Also still buying great deals, but they won't come in time for Christmas, so will be New Years presents.
18. Seafood usually, but this year, Chinese buffet. Thanksgiving is usually a traditional feast.
19. 20. I've lost track as well. Excluding all the movies and extra Wii games that I bought for myself (and weren't budgeted), about $800 (significantly less than past years). But retailers and gohastings got a lot more than that of my money on stuff I bought for myself and household goods...deals too good to pass up. lol
21. Chinese buffet this year and italian on christmas eve. Usually we do a seafood dinner (shrimp cooked various ways, lobster tails, fried fish, crab legs). Don't feel like cooking this year though.
22. Those should be common sense, but sadly common sense isn't very common.
23. Thanks for sharing these recipes! I think I'm going to try one of the french toast and one of the casseroles.
