I love amazon customer service. I've never had a problem. Just last week the mailman lost my packages (misdelivered) and they immediately sent a replacement that I received the next day, no questions asked.

I've been online shopping the past two years. Plan to stay close to the computer early Thursday through 4-6 am on BF. I would suggest having your payment info already saved with the online store and checkout often. Don't wait to fill up your cart, otherwise things will go out of stock. Put a hot item in your cart and check out immediately, then continue browsing/shopping. Also, keep refreshing gottadeal.

I looked it up. Unlimited for amazon content. Does that mean I can't store media from non-amazon sources on cloud? Also, cloud not so good since I understand you can't access it without wifi. Will pass on this for now, I think.

How much cloud storage?

That Kindle fire doesn't support external memory. 8 GB .... no good.

thanks for the trip down memory lane!!! I remember my first computer, a Packard Bell for like $2000, and we thought that was cheap at the time given the other choices. Now, I would never dream of spending even half that for a computer. Also loved seeing the cell phones and the pagers. lol All the cool people had pagers and no one I knew had cell phones. lol

I have an only child and will definitely be spending less. While the economy hasn't really affected me (thankfully), it makes me appreciate how wasteful it is to spend so much each year on Christmas. And DD is getting older anyway and now gets it and really just doesn't need much. Will be spending no more than $500 on DD. In the past, have spent multiple times that sometimes.

Wasn't planning to start early, but just did! Picked up 2 lego sets from TRU (Bogo). I may get a couple more small items for DD, but I these will be her 2 big gifts. Going to be a smaller Christmas this year. Too much unused gifts piling up at home.

Sorry, but you won't be able to buy one at that price. Maybe you can give him the $75 (gift card or cash) and let him know that he can do chores, etc. to earn the rest of it to buy it for himself. Or if he is getting money from other family or has savings, he can maybe buy it right away.

For any of those with an ereader, I highly recommend downloading calibre...a very powerful little program. I'm having fun using it to convert ebooks and expand my Nook library.

I bought DD and I these 3-in-1 packages on ebay with synthetic leather cover, skin, and screen protector. They were very nice. the screen protector is, as usual, hard to get on without bubbles.
