Do not, do not, do not buy a netbook!!! A cheap laptop would be a better choice. I bought a netbook for DD a few years ago and she rarely uses it. I use it and want to throw it at the wall on a daily basis. First of all, it is hard to type on. Second of all, the processor is extremely weak. If you open up more than 2 web pages at a time, it will freeze. It freezes on a daily basis doing routine tasks that you would have no problem doing with a laptop, e.g., hibernation. When I tried to look up the problem on the internet, I discovered that this is a common problem with even the best netbooks.

I also recommend Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. It is under $200 right now.

I like this idea, but doubt my willpower. I do, however, plan on cutting back (I say that every year and dont). I really want to have a simpler less gift involved Christmas, and not for monetary reasons. We just don't need a lot of stuff. DD13, however, is an only and I tend to get carried away. As I am not impressed by the ads this year, I'm hoping to be able to spend less and buy fewer things. DD pretty much has everything anyway. The only thing she doesn't have and would like goes against house rules -- no TV in kids' bedrooms. So, a few new books, 2 complete outfits, pair of shoes, and a lego modular set, plus a stocking of course, is what I'm thinking and hope I can stick to.

Opened my SS package! My SS person did such a great job and took such care choosing just the right gifts and wrapping them so nicely. I received: 2 brain game picture puzzles books James Patterson's newest Alex Cross book (so excited, was going to wait for the paper back to read!) 2 packs of Twizzlers Box of Rocher Bag of Reese's peanut butter cups (DD claimed it, lol) Travel size BBW Dark Kiss lotion, mist, and shower gel (my favorite new BBW scent! DD says I use too much of it, lol) Thank you so much!!! Everything was just perfect! Merry Christmas! Will post pictures later.

I still have to make cookies. Just finished my last run to the store and all presents are wrapped.

Happy Birthday! My mom is a Christmas baby, so she gets pampered on Christmas. This year she is 60, so Christmas will be extra special for her.

On Christmas Eve we go to see the Nutcracker, Prairie Lights (a huge drive-through Christmas lights display) and dinner at Olive Garden. On Christmas day we get up, have breakfast, then open presents, then the rest of the day is relaxing -- movies, video games, new Christmas presents. Finger foods throughout the day. In the evening we have Christmas dinner and then go to the movies or rent a few to watch at home in the media room.

I wouldn't recommend it. They aren't very good. DD had one and it didn't work properly. She gave up on it after 30 minutes of trying to get it to work.

I've had 1 package from amazon returned as "undeliverable" aka we damaged it during shipping. Otherwise, no real problems.

why not try freecycle?

So I brought the insulting parrot to a white elephant party a week ago and it was a huge hit. It had us laughing for hours. The person who ended up with it though, I doubt will get much enjoyment from it, but it entertained all the other guests during the party.

I didn't get one but there have been tons of complaints about the sound and dead pixels. Glad you got a good one. I wish I hadn't missed it.
