I was browsing through the BF archives and found the threads about odd gift requests.  I don't see one here yet this year, so thought I would start one.

The one the brings me to tears every time I read it is the person with the child that asked for pickles.  So funny I laugh so hard I cry every time I see it.

A few years ago, my younger ds asked for a fire extinguisher and a garbage can.  No clue why.

Two years ago, my 4-year-old nephew said the only thing he wanted was a pink mop and broom (full size, not kid-size) so he could help his mom clean because she worked so hard. After looking everywhere for pink with no luck, I happened to be in Goodwill of all places and found a brand new set. I wrapped them but it was obvious what they were ... He was so excited when he saw the wrapped gifts he started crying! It was so sweet ... Two years later he still loves them!

And 3 or 4 years ago, my niece who was 6-ish at the time, asked for a stick and three rocks so she could "use her imagination!" I was happy to oblige!

I can remember when I was much much younger asking for a basket of green peppers because I wanted to be healthy! Lol

I have been a bit busy to start this thread this year so I'm glad someone did.

Believe it or not DD does not have any... oh wait, she wants one roll of toilet paper.

"A roll of TP?" says I.

"Well, it could make a great pillow or you could donate it to a firefighter who has sandpaper for toilet paper..." says she. Don't ask me where she got that from (apparently an ad)... LOL - I guess I should be proud of her for thinking of others.

Oh no, there's more...

A can of fish oil

Panda overalls

A large block of ice just so she can smash it

And I'm sure she will add on in the coming days... can't wait.

My 6 year old just informed me that she wants an (as in 1) encyclopedia.  I tried to explain to her that the internet is an encyclopedia.  I guess I could tell my father in law to bring her his set of world books from 1965.

My daughter would like a chef's knife.  She is 5 and wants to cut with a really sharp knife like on the cooking shows on TV.  She also plans on getting both of her brothers (15) pajanimals for Xmas so they can wear them to school and the Mall "just like they say they can on TV".  Needless to say neither boy is excited about being in unicorm pajanimals if she gets them.  I just hope they don't sell them in stores so I when she and I go shopping she can't find them!

My son told Santa to leave bacon in his stocking instead of candy....santa did. Thank goodness for boxed bacon that does not have to be refrigerated! Now it is a yearly tradition to add some sort of balcony item. Bacon gum, bacon saltwater taffy, bacon floss, bacon pop rocks, bacon coffee....

Our neighbor usually has a garage sale the day before Mother's Day, and she sells a lot of plants and home canned items.  A couple of times my kids have gotten me a jar of her dill pickles, so yummy.  I think pickles make a great gift!

One year my then 3 or 4 yo daughter wanted a magic wand that really worked.  Me too honey.  Me too.

Last year my DD had just turned 18 and asked if she was "old enough" to get those HILLSHIRE Farms meat and cheese sets. Needless to say she got a bunch of them. :-)

Once, when my oldest boy was small, we went to see Santa at the mall.  When Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas, DS said "That one" and pointed to a particular wrapped gift that was part of the set.  You might be surprised how difficult it was for me to find solid green wrapping paper a week before Christmas!

Another time, same son, wanted nothing but the little stuffed Rudolph that was sitting beside Santa's seat. I had everybody looking for that reindeer. I think we finally found one very similar at JCPenney.

My friend was looking through the TRU toy catalog with her 4 year old nephew this week and he pointed to one of the other children and asked her to buy him that particular human.  She never thought she would have to explain to a 4 year old that buying humans was illegal.

My daughter (8) has asked for Chocolate and Strawberry syrup this year to make chocolate/strawberry milk?? We have that stuff in our refrigerator right now, so not sure why she asked Santa for it :)

I used to get a jar of olives in my stocking, because I always ate all the olives from the relish tray before Christmas dinner.  With my own jar I could have them all to myself to suck the pimento out of!

My Goddaughter always wants (and receives) a 6 pack of root beer.

My 9 year old daughter has asked Santa for a real Bulbasaur (Pokemon) and a real cheetah, I told her Santa always checks with the parents and I don't approve those gifts. ;)

I love this thread!

My 9 year old daughter asked for Nutella, easy cheeze in a can and whipped cream in a can. And a chameleon. She's getting three of the four ;)

My oldest son asked for a chameleon for YEARS. I always told him that Santa discussed it with Mama, and Mama didn't want a lizard in the house.  To this day, he whines (jokingly) that Santa never brought him that chameleon - and he's 24. LOL
