  1. Midwestern small town living dictates that I MUST stop at menards on BF, but I have NO ad yet! Having a hard time waiting... I can't plan with out them!
  2. YES! I love reading through the "good old days"... when black friday required planning, and staying up late. I miss my kids being little, and me being excited I don't like all the 'changes' like shopping on thursday.
  3. Glad to hear from you! Your web fam. will keep on praying for healing and strength, for all of you. It won't be the same without you so you should pop in for a howdy and hello! The deals are one thing, but kindness, love and compassion are another. It's the reason for the season! Have a happy holiday season!
  4. YEAY! TILE!!! no really, i am kinda excited by that.....

ANy news on their black friday deals? is it just going to be the take XX% off or do they do a take an additional % off for "doorbuster" times?
  6. while there is always a credible threat from any terrorist network, you can't live in fear. What you CAN do is live every day to the fullest, making it a better place.... incase you do leave it earlier than you planned. Make a memory for someone. Be the difference. Not just today or tomorrow because of a perceived threat, but everyday. That's how you change the landscape you live in. Not just for you today, but teach future generations to make that change in themselves and for others. Also you have a better shot at your neighbors blowing up the block with their secret meth lab, a moonshine still blowing the mountain sky high, accidentally getting mailed 40 lbs of coke instead of your walmart order and having the dea take you out.... or having to wrestle a cougar ( cat or woman...take your pick this is black friday afterall).
  7. I'm having the same issue with all "live items" as well... hmmmmmmmm..........
  8. My menards list is bigger than my kohl's, jcpenney and sears COMBINED! But to be fair, my kids are asking for "big" items this year so I am down to the 'filler gifts' left on the list.
  9. Nothing on the bag yet? Kind of shocked that its not out yet!
  10. Was in store today, talked with an employee and she said that the store will be doing a 50% off EVERYTHING you can fit in a bag! I also noticed that the everyday prices seem to be much better than they were in years past. So excited for the BF sale (if what she stated is true for all stores)!!
  11. I may have never heard of a BJs wholesale, but boy am i glad to see those hastily taken photos! its starting to feel like christmas.....
  12. ok, so now that THE BIG ONE is here... does Best Buy usually have their games available on all platforms or just as listed? I have to get the fifa 16.... but just for regular X box, not x box one.
  13. I CAN AGREE WITH THAT! Remember the days with the crinkled papers pilfered out of a shop somewhere... or the poor resolution photos that were hastily taken? it really felt like there was something special to know about.... now its more like "here is our 'big ad' you schmucks". Its too 'mainstream' now, give us our something special back! LOL.
  14. I think it feels so lackluster for me because my kids are getting older... its been 4 years since I got go to barbie shopping. and I am such a GREAT gottadeal shopper... they already have all the cool stuff! But yeah, most excited about is the 4.99 slippers a walgreens! LMAO
  15. UGH! I cant cut and paste! Anyway, My idea is a funny turkey pushing a shopping cart that says "Gottadeal.com Not just for black friday deals " Its super cute and humerous.... I'm sure your imagination is MUCH better than my (LIMITED) photoshop skills!
  16. A veteran of retail (and my dh just anniversaried on year23) and a few toy stores, and some seasonal/temp help... I worked the year of the furby. Sweet Lord that was a mess! first fight i ever saw over a toy! The year of the cabbage patch revival.. I had a lady, bless her heart, looking for a very specific cabbage patch doll. It had to be a boy, with brown hair, buck teeth and hazel eyes. OK cool. I get that she wanted THAT ONE. But no, lady I am not going to climb to the top of the racking in the middle of the store with 100 people pushing and shoving below me on a ladder because the one in your hands wasn't named Jeffery! She actually complained to my boss that I wasn't " being helpful". Thankfully my boss wasn't an idiot. My advice is this : #1 Don't push and fight over it. Bail costs more than your savings on the item. #2 Don't be a d*&k. Trust me, the employees want you to get your stuff and leave. #3 if it is a life or death item A) you should have ordered it weeks ago and it isn't life or death, its a holiday present. #4 be nice to the employees. You don't know who called in 'sick' and whose shift they are covering, or that they missed their break or lunch and have had to use the restroom for 3 hours but can't leave their station. Or have been talking to people for 3 hours but can't get a drink because you can't have a beverage on the sales floor. *I always have candy canes or something small in my pocket for anyone who helps me on BF.... its a small token, and i know that it might be all they get for the day. We couldn't be shopping if it wasn't for them working....
  17. Fruitport, Michigan! (the one place that nobody has heard of) and I am too computer illiterate to add a raindrop to my location... also i don't want rain or snow this year, so that's ok!
  18. Two, but one is getting a little worn, so need to win a new one this year!!
  19. I'm betting on monday morning. If not even earlier. With a few national, and 'local' retailers having ads out that press shops and such will have a LONG weekend ahead of them. Can't let another company get all the hype for too long...
  20. I forgot one!!! OMG! Last year took my oldest daughter with my mom and I on Thanksgiving.... smooth morning. until we get to Mc Donalds. let me preempt this by saying my mother also has no volume control (and in retrospect i almost hope that she was still drunk.... except that she was the one driving) ! order food, everything went well... until we were almost done. My mom who just can't make things easy has to go ask for wet naps because napkins aren't enough. Daughter and I were exasperated and were just like "for real grandma just go to the bathroom and wash your hands"?! she shouts across the dining area "What?! I need them I'm a homophobe"! EVERYONE HEARS HER! WE WERE MORTIFIED! My sister is gay, so WE both knew that wasn't what she meant, but nobody else did! If you had caught our faces at that moment... My 15 year old daughter jumps up and literally yells at her "Don't you mean you're a GERMAPHOBE" mom, very quietly this time, says, "oh yeah, that's what I meant". Daughter and I beat feet out of there and go hide in the car before we can get publicly humiliated again by the words of the grandma... I need to write a book. I think it would be therapeutic.
  21. Our traditions are not black friday traditions... unless you count my mom calling me to see if I can "just pick up this or that doorbuster" . you know the ones that people have been in line for DAYS waiting for. When I tell her she is out of her mind and she gets all bent out of shape over it, cussing out the stores and me for not having it.THAT seem to be pretty traditional! Other than that, it is usually out thanksgiving shopping that is the most "traditional" Wed. night mom stays up and drinks. i go to bed at 9 or 10, i wake mom up at 3 or 4 (we have meijers to get to) she complains the entire time that she didn't get enough sleep, and that we have plenty of time. We hit the road and she sees all the traffic and turns into a complete crazy woman who has to pass ever freaking car on the road "incase they are going to 'our store' and might be after our item" we get in line for items, and hang out with the same people in line year after year! When starbucks opens my hubby brings us coffee eventually we check out, hit up walgreens, dollar general and out to breakfast and then home. She isn't ALL bad, its kind of comical.
  22. Congratulations for not going to jail!
  23. shopping? I already have stuff wrapped!!! and out! but before you think i am crazy, my youngest just learned of the "santa secret" after christmas and has lost her christmas spirit. So we are trying to bring it back. The joy of giving, the excitement and anticipation of giving a gift to someone you love... etc. It is working, she is so excited to see her siblings open their gifts and knowing what they are, and that they will love them.... she can hardly wait again!
  24. 1. Approximately 20 years... give or take... 2. I will be spending LESS as my kids will be buying themselves some things this year (that were on their christmas lists, but they insist on getting for themselves, so they don't have to wait until christmas). 3. I plan on shopping on line every week this year! 4. This is youngest sons 13th year, so he gets to go now too... so in total that makes 5 of us! 5. Just do rows of advertised items.... pallet by pallet.. instead of "the front of this rack hidden in the socks section has movies" and "if you go back by the meat area you will find the socks that are on sale".... UGH! Make it make sense!!
