  1. We do these almost every year:

    Candy Cane Cookies

    1 cup sugar

1 cup butter or margarine, softened

    1/2 cup milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    1 teaspoon peppermint extract

    1 egg

    3 1/2cups all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon red food color

2 tablespoons crushed peppermint candy canes

    2 tablespoons sugar

    Pre heat oven to 375F

Stir together 1 cup sugar, the butter, milk, vanilla, peppermint extract and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Divide dough in half. Stir food color into 1 half.

Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.

Stir together peppermint candy canes and 2 tablespoon sugar; set aside.

For each candy cane, shape 1 rounded teaspoon dough from each half into 4-inch rope by rolling back and forth on floured surface. Place 1 red and white rope side by side; press together lightly and twist. Place on ungreased cookie sheet; curve top of cookie down to form handle of cane.

Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until set and very light brown. Immediately sprinkle candy mixture over cookies.

Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

  2. My wife and I are the same way with stuff usually, if we really want or need something we get it. She says I'm impossible to buy for because I don't ever really want anything. We try to give each other some things we want and then not go get them ourselves lol.

We are looking to do some trips for us and our daughter this Christmas since she's getting in her teens now and doesn't want as much (she has too much stuff already)

  3. What makes me laugh is the Digital version is only like $50 less, now if you want to add a blu-ray player to it you can for $80 at a later time. Why not just buy the better one and have everything already there for $30 less money?

Good golly, I’m late posting for me.  I’ve had a whirlwind ast few weeks dealin g with an auto accident and all that comes with your cr being totaled….. 😞

We had a cold front move through the area that dropped the low temps to the 50’s so sore throat and snotty nose ensued no I’m not feeling well at all today.  I did get my goodies in the mail though and am just now remembering to post.  Thanks Brad!  I’m ready for another BF season even though I won’t be buying much at all………..new car, high insurance rates and high APR’s you know.  What a Terri le time to have an accident.  😞

As long as you're OK that's all that matters. My wife was in an accident in my car on her way to work a couple of years ago (totaled the car) when she called me she thought I might be upset about the car, my first and only care was you and our daughter OK. After I found out they were perfectly fine my next statement was where are you I'm on my way. Car's are easily replaced, people aren't.

I get it… I used to be like that as well and couldn’t fathom not spending every holiday with family…  last year I spent last Christmas alone for the first time ever due to the massive snow storm we had that snowed most of my loved ones in… I took my time and made my Christmas dinner and ate it while watching Christmas movies… my children couldn’t get to me for another couple of days, but we spent time together then… I can honestly say it was less stressful as I was the only one I had to get dinner ready for so I could take my time and not worry that everyone was hungry and waiting on me 😬

Oh I get it, I've spent years with just me on the holidays when I moved out of state and no one around. We have made our dinners less stressful now though. We prep things ahead of time. I throw the meats on the smoker and let em go then carve when needed. We may try it some year, soon enough our daughter will be off to college or want to spend time with her significant others family instead of us I guess. 🙂

For cruises "wave season" typically starts in mid-January.  This is typically when you will find the best deals on cruises.  Happy Travels!

Thank you, will look then. I'm about to be Platinum on Carnival, so some of the lines are matching which will be nice. 🙂

Covid canceled our Xmas 2020 Disney cruise. Since then we've been cruising 4 times a year since Nov '21 including 2 in the next 2 months. Not that we're sick of cruising, but we just want to do more stuff. Our son is about to be a teenager so we hope he has the patience and interest on more domestic experiences.

Yes I get that. Ours is about to turn 13 so finding things that will keep her happy is a lot harder lol

My family is looking to do more experiences rather than needing/wanting physical items. We cruise several times a year but looking at other travel related options for 2024/2025. Anyone have any experience with travel packages sold on or around BF? Some things we're looking at include long weekends at some locations in the US. (Just not FL because we live here)

We are looking for the same thing for us. We are thinking of one of them being a trip to NYC with a broadway show. We only cruise maybe once a year or two, we looked for another cruise even in like Feb but it’s stupid expensive. Makes me wish I had booked a bunch when all the COVID pricing issues were going on. We looked at a 4 day the other day for mid Feb and it was like 3500 for 4 people.

We booked tickets to go to my parents so I am excited because they have many many more stores then I do in my town. And maybe I can convince my mom to go shopping with me 🙂 We haven't done that in a good 10 years!

    Very nice 🙂

Hopefully you have a great time.
