I've had too many friends lose someone they love the first half of this year (hubby for two of them, mom for one, grandma for another), so goodbye, first half of 2025. It's been a rough one.

Got my buddy in town from Indiana this week. We're hitting The Henry Ford/Greenfield Village for Salute to America, Cedar Point for a couple days, Frankenmuth (because Frankenmuth) and she'll get a day of rest before I send her back home thoroughly exhausted and needing a vacation from her vacation. LOL (The cats are enjoying having an extra "staff member" around.)

In garden news, my lettuces (romaine and red/green leaf) have grown beautifully, my dill has created a forest and I am now in harvest mode on all those. Still to come are cucumbers (hopefully), celery, and brussels. Maybe this year I can finally make dill pickles using my own dang cukes. LOL

Hope my GD fam is doing well as we enter these hot summer months. 🙂

I was back in town a couple weeks ago and wanted to do Frankenmuth but didn't get to. I want to go the next time I'm there. I really want to check out the new water park at Bavarian Inn.

I was at a show at Pine Knob on Sunday. 🥵97° before the doors and people were tailgating on the asphalt. I admired their dedication from my air conditioned SUV.
It was still high 80s when the show ended at 11. Still not the hottest temp I’ve ever seen Keith Urban in 😆

I’m kinda wishing this silly hot weather would end. I don’t mind some heat but I do t need it triple digits.

What differences are there between Sam's Club and Costco?  I'm a Sam's member but a Costco is opening near me soon.  Is there a difference?

Some things are cheaper at one some things are cheaper at the other. I got a Costco membership on one of those really cheap deals. Never bothered to renew it. Too stupidly busy for me.

Would rather deal with snakes than an HOA.

Hope you can build and escape the HOA

Thanks. Yes I know the feeling. My wife wants to rip out these bushes that are in the middle of our front yard and replace with flowers and some boulders. Have to get HOA approval. We are going to add stairs to our back  deck. Have to get HOA approval. We are going to repaint the outside of the house, have to get approval and the house can’t be the same color as any other houses within 5 houses of us in all directions. It’s a ton of houses because we are on a corner.  Insanity.

    Happy May all.

At this rate, I'd need a full on brush mower if I did a no-mow May... The dandelions are as big as my cats already! 🤣

Last year I had to hire True Green there, the dandelions were out of hand and I could not get rid of them or the weeds from them. Once they were out a few times the yard cleared up just enough for me to sell and leave. I had to hire someone to come mow my yard here. I've not had the time or inclination to buy a mower lol

Anyone else have "fun" trying to get a Switch 2 preordered last night/today online?

I tried to grab one on Best Buy site last night but got white screened when I reached the "front" of the line the first time and they were gone by the time I got back to the front of the line the second time. Oof.

Accomplished in-person pre-order at my local GameStop on my lunch break today. The location I went to had 45 total pre-orders available, 30-ish MK World bundles, the rest plain consoles. I missed the bundle by a few people but got a plain console and went ahead and ordered the physical copy of MK World to go with it. Once mine was reserved, only three plain console preorders remained. Crazy.

I didn’t want to stay up so I didn’t try lol. Guess I won’t get it until the 2nd or 3rd wave ships.

March came roaring in with an $800 plumbing repair for the house. Blah. On the other hand, I leave for Vegas next week for the annual sojourn westward. Looking forward to the week with my "sisters from another mister". I bake the pile of cookies for our pit crew guys this Saturday. May have to have them start forking over moolah for those eggs... LOL

I’m so sick of winter. The cold and snow. Where was it at Christmas?

In the Low 30's here today again and there were flurries when we went to get our daughter from staying at a friends last night (they are off school this week). Week or so ago we hit 80 one day, needless to say we have ALL been sick.

🤣🤣I feel like they may go the way of Big Lots and not do much reduction. I'm out of town but have a couple slow days to get stuff done and decided to hit the Party City's in the area hoping for amazing deals.  At the register for Party City I overhear a lady talking about Joann's had AT MOST 20% off. I HAD considered walking over but decided against it since I'd already blown entirely too much time at the mall. The one Party City had more stuff and better discounts while the other was more picked through and had less discounts. The one back home had better costume selection and for $4 whereas here they were a flat 80% off. I may stop by one tomorrow in Orlando assuming I wake up early and have the full day to peruse.

Ya I sort of feel they will just move stuff to other stores. A lot of these closeout deals I see is they bring in stuff they never carried and the stuff you want is already gone somehow.

Do it. Plenty to do that does not involve gambling, and I actually enjoy going in the summer when it's 110 - the heat is dry and there's WAY less people.

Ya last couple of times I’ve been there was mid summer. Stupid hot out. Still had a lot of fun.

Yes. SOOOOO many people don't realize just how much you can do in Vegas without it involving gambling (or drinking, as our group chooses not to partake of alcohol). There are so many interesting things to do, including some that we -still- haven't gotten around to (like the Neon Boneyard/Museum) that are truly worth the time if you enjoy those kinds of things.

For an aquarium lover like me, Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef is a must visit every trip, for example. 🙂

We will gamble some but I enjoy a lot of the other things like shows and just getting out and seeing things.

I’ve only been twice and it’s been a good amount of time since the last time I was there.
