when i was a kid my neighbors across the street was keep their christmas gifts in the basement and someone robbed everything. they had 4 young boys and had to go out christmas eve to buy some toys just so there would be something under the tree. i've heard of people takingthings out of the carts but i never saw it for my self.

i do the same number of gifts since kids always count who has the most. although i've been pretty lucky my kids son13 and dd6, don't really do that. i try and make sure that i'm with in a fair amount ($) of each other, they don't get anything like game systems for christmas, they got their DS's in feb and they got the Wii as a family gift since they both graduated in june. i got both the kids a WowWee Roboreptile Robotic it goes for $100. but i got it for $24 thats like a big gift for them and my dd6 wants a furreal parrot $50 since some of the wii games go for the same it'll be in that catagory. so i try and make sure they get the same amount as well as the same $ spent on each one. they also know that i'm the one that buys the gifts (no santa here the kids tell people mommy is santa lol) i givethe kids toy catalogs and they mark what they want but my son know money is tight so he only marks 2 or 3 things he so sweet. he's always surprised christmas morning with all the stuff there.

edit - Please post all of your questions about specific toys in this thread. my dd6 wants a few of these for christmas. she asked for of course the pony told her no way it's to much money your not getting it. ok fine what about the other ones, are they worth the money? what do they do? she wants the parrot, ok she has a cheap version of this she played with all the time all it does is repeat what is hears for a few seconds. so i know she love this one. what about the cats, and the lamb? those she also asked for. can any one tell me anything about them? last yr i got her this battery pound puppy type dog that wined and cried it was very annoying (the dog ate it lol). just looking for some advice are they worth it? thanks.

i have to add i would like for some one to come christmas morning and put the toys together and put the batteries in and clean up the wrapping. after all these yrs of putting toys together i actually stop and think about getting something just because of the size and how much work it is before hand.

best- my son 12/6/93 and last yr when i got a very large check from uncle sam boy thatwas good worst- a ceder chest from my mom when i was around 20. it made everything smell of ceder it was big and i never wanted one but she did so she thought i would want it.

lol i totally agree. i have a friend that only buys her dd12 one or two things. i'm up to around 16 or 17 total. and she keeps asking me if i'm done shopping for them. i know i went way over board last yr with 30 for each of my kids, but i'll be done when i feel that i'm done and thats starting to bother me that she does that. but i'm the only one that buys for my kids besides my brother and SIL. my dad sends money, mom don't celebrate so thats it i don't bother with any other family and most of my friends have it tight so we don't exchange. i'm trying to cut back this yr but i just can't pass up a good deal lol. and i love watching them christmas morning when they see everything. thats my gift.

i order mine on line and for some reason they're shipping it seperate so i got free shipping on the 2 i paid for, but the one i got free i paid $4.84 in shipping. they've never done that before, i'm guessing that maybe the their coming from different locations. i'll find out when they come.

i've ordered twice form them the first item came with in a week not bad, the second took 16days.

i had something like that happen with lake side. they called me and said that they had already sent the order and the invoice was inside the box. when i recieved it the invoice said paid but on the account it was still open. i called them to tell them i only got half my order and told them about the invoice. i gave them the right info again and they sent the rest of my order.

i'll be on line doing my shopping. i hate the crowds, the pushing, the shoving. thats not for me. the only thing i'll go out for is a really really good deal on a laptop. but i doubt it.

it wouldn't bother me. i feel guilty when some one spends money on me, so the better the deal they can get the better i would feel about it. besides refubish just means that the company fixed any problems it has, which sometimes can be better then new.

i've bought stuff that was refurbished before and i never had a problem, i guess it's more of how you feel about it and how your mom feels. each person is different. if it doesn't bother you or your mom, i don't see the problem with it. some people think that gifts should always be brand new and others perfere to save the money as best as they can. what do you think about giving a refurbished GPS? how would you feel if it was you getting the gift? would it bother you or are you ok with it? if you check around you can find some good deals on new ones, have you checked out overstock.com? they have good prices.

where did you get it? i've been looking for one for a while now. i saw a mickey mouse one about 10 yrs ago and haven't seen one since. i have a lite up star that won't stay on straight no matter what i do it tilts.

have you ever had someone tell you "you buy to much"? i like to buy a lot for my kids at christmas. i don't decide hay i'm going to buy x amount of gifts for each of them it just turns out that way. i see a great deal and i get it. my mom use to give my brother and i some of the best christmas's. so i guess i get it from her, but i have some friends that say i get to much. one friend said she only gets like 2 or 3 gifts for her dd and don't i think i got them enough already since i have a totel of 16 so far. lol i don't think so this is the one thing i enjoy doing, so why is it other people feel they need to tell you what you should have or what to do if you didn't ask them?
