  1. And, make sure your payment preferences are up to date before the sale goes live. If an old credit card is saved in their system, it could cost you precious time.
  2. Silver Bells
  3. My sister and I were trying to figure this out the other night. I know my oldest was little, and he was born in '91, so early 90s I guess. I know I stumbled on it somehow my first year, and I was instantly hooked. Talked my sister into going with me the next year and we ended up standing in line outside a Toys R Us in the sleet. I didn't think I'd ever get her to go with me again, but all these years later it's still one of our favorite things to do .
  4. This will be great. I was going to do this for my mom and aunt on tee towels, but no one seems to know where my grama's handwritten recipe book went .
  5. Those are amazing. I attempted a simple gingerbread house one time and couldn't make it work. I am in awe of this kind of talent.
  6. One of the times we talk about a lot is one year my sister and I were headed to KB Toys (I don't remember what we were after). We get to the mall in a nearby town well before opening, but there was no one else there. As it creeps closer and closer to opening time (5:00am, if I remember right), there were still no people showing up. Finally, I call information to get KB Toys phone #, and find out there's not even a store AT that mall. We high tailed it to OKC to a bigger mall, but by the time we got there getting in to itty bitty KB Toys was not going to happen if we wanted to hit ANY of the other stores on our list for that day. I believe that was 1996 or 97.
  7. I can't help you out with winning a shirt, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  8. 50 years, and still going strong. I love it that my kids and grandkids get to enjoy the same holiday favorites I've always loved.
  9. It could be full of junk, and I'd still be excited for an AD! LOL That being said, I might look into that tool set and case for my son.
  10. I keep a list with my Christmas list in Excel, and add to (or otherwise adjust) it as the ads are leaked. Then on Thanksgiving, my sister, mom, daughter in law, and I sit at the kitchen table and go through all the paper ads. Each of us has paper and pen in hand. Then I go back to my excel list and add/delete to tweak the list and finalize the game plan.
  11. #1 - Is this the line for the bathroom? #2 - YOU get a TV, and YOU get a TV... #3 - UGH, I ate WAY too much pumpkin pie!
  12. So many great deals, I'd be hard pressed to say what the best one was. Last year, though, I started tracking not only what I spent but what I saved, and I saved over $400 on my daughter in law alone.
  13. I had not heard of this. You can bet I will be using it now though! I do all my grocery shopping at Walmart. Gottadealer's have saved me so much money over the years, I oughta be a rich woman!
  14. watching the OU/TX game and remembered that a couple years ago our first webchat was this weekend. It may have been a practice run, I don't remember for sure.
  15. I've never camped out. The longest I've done in one line was 11 hours at WalMart for an XBox a few years ago.
  16. My brother in law is the hardest one for me to buy for. He's a big hunter, so it should be easy, but I just hate to get him the same stuff every year as if hunting is all he's about. I try to find unusual stuff for him, for example a few years ago I bought him a glass milk jar that stood about 2.5 feet tall and filled it completely with peanuts. My mom's not easy either, but one of the things she always asks for is money for the day after Christmas sales. So, I usually get her some small trinkets and I always get her a new tshirt from Mardel, then I give her money. Normally I am the type to say giving money or gift cards is no fun, but it's what she wants and she always appreciates whatever we can give her.
  17. I'm probably about 50% done at this point. I bought my first gift back in July, but that is not the norm for me. I get to anxious to give people what I got them, so I have a hard time holding on to stuff this long. I usually start around September, when the temps start getting just a little cooler. That's when I start wanting to listen to Christmas music, and really get in "the mood". I do quite a bit of my shopping on Black Friday, but in years past I got a profit share check right before then and we're not getting one this year so I've had to start earlier and space it out.
  18. Walmart and Target would be the top of the list, but I get excited over every single one. Even the ones not in my area, LOL.
  19. I'm going to say Harbor Freight on October 14.
  20. http://blogs.wsj.com/corporate-intelligence/2014/09/24/expect-retailers-to-open-even-earlier-this-thanksgiving/ They were talking about this on our local news tonight. Seems the Wall Street Journal is predicting some stores will run their sales all day on Thanksgiving this year.
  21. OMG, This! This says it all, doesn't it?
  22. PM sent. I was having some trouble pasting the info so if it all disappeared please let me know and I'll email it instead. Thanks so much!!
  23. I've been transitioning all of my music from iTunes to Amazon, so I've done some cleaning and rebuilding. My Christmas music playlist was the first one I completed and I've been listening to it a lot .
  24. Kid-approved ‘2014 Holiday Toy List’ unveiled! http://kfor.com/2014/09/10/kid-approved-2014-holiday-toy-list-unveiled/
  25. I prefer the longer list. The more we can know about our person, the better. And, if someone is inclined to say "I don't know" or "I don't care" on some questions, maybe there are other questions to help fill in some blanks. I also thread stalk (if you want to call it that). Once I have my person, I see what she/he has posted on threads in Gottadeal to try to learn more about them. I hope that's not as creepy as it sounds when I type it out . At any rate, I'm so excited for the SS and Ornament Exchange!
