Black Friday LIVE 2014 Webcast Schedule & Information Thread
Bopeep replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2014
I hope it all went well last night. I didn't get home in time, so I missed it. I will definitely try to catch the next one though! -
I have had some of the same thoughts. If someone doesn't want to shop on Thanksgiving because of their own family traditions, I understand. But when their reasoning is that the employees of those stores shouldn't have to work on Thanksgiving, then you have to consider radio personnel, TV personnel, all the people that work at the ball field if you're watching the game, etc. Unfortunately, some people have to work on Thanksgiving. Personally, I will shop some online Thursday, depending when some of the online sales start. I will just be doing it sitting in the room with my family . And when the Thursday evening sales start in the stores, depending on what's on our list, I'm sure we'll be there.

Do you know how many people ordered shirts last year? I won a t-shirt, but I sent my sister's size since I was ordering a hoodie. C'mon people, order up!
-
I'm too afraid of losing the cash to carry that much with me. I'll be using my debit card and praying for the best.
-
I do both. I love going out to the stores, but the more items I can cross off the list early the easier it is to get to the items in store.
-
I save all the .pdf ads from here to my tablet, then keep my lists in an excel sheet. I bought a new cross-body purse that the tablet will fit into, just for Black Friday shopping .

My cousin sent me a picture (screenshot) of supposedly "confirmed" hours for a few stores that she got from an app on her phone. It shows Best Buy opening at 6:00pm Thursday, Target @ 8:00pm Thursday, and Walmart @ 6:00pm Thursday. Of course, just because this app says these hours are confirmed doesn't mean they are. I guess we'll know when we know.

It's always me and my sister. A couple years ago, my daughter in law started going with us and I think that will continue. Both of my boys have gone once, and both of them said "never again!" LOL I think my niece (15) wants to go with us this year.

If I decorate outside, I'll probably do that the weekend before Thanksgiving, then the tree and everything inside will go up Thanksgiving weekend. Although, I just bought a new train to go around my tree, and I'm so excited that I may not even wait until Thanksgiving to put it all up!

And, make sure your payment preferences are up to date before the sale goes live. If an old credit card is saved in their system, it could cost you precious time.

My sister and I were trying to figure this out the other night. I know my oldest was little, and he was born in '91, so early 90s I guess. I know I stumbled on it somehow my first year, and I was instantly hooked. Talked my sister into going with me the next year and we ended up standing in line outside a Toys R Us in the sleet. I didn't think I'd ever get her to go with me again, but all these years later it's still one of our favorite things to do .

This will be great. I was going to do this for my mom and aunt on tee towels, but no one seems to know where my grama's handwritten recipe book went .

Those are amazing. I attempted a simple gingerbread house one time and couldn't make it work. I am in awe of this kind of talent.

One of the times we talk about a lot is one year my sister and I were headed to KB Toys (I don't remember what we were after). We get to the mall in a nearby town well before opening, but there was no one else there. As it creeps closer and closer to opening time (5:00am, if I remember right), there were still no people showing up. Finally, I call information to get KB Toys phone #, and find out there's not even a store AT that mall. We high tailed it to OKC to a bigger mall, but by the time we got there getting in to itty bitty KB Toys was not going to happen if we wanted to hit ANY of the other stores on our list for that day. I believe that was 1996 or 97.

I can't help you out with winning a shirt, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

50 years, and still going strong. I love it that my kids and grandkids get to enjoy the same holiday favorites I've always loved.
-
It could be full of junk, and I'd still be excited for an AD! LOL That being said, I might look into that tool set and case for my son.
-
I keep a list with my Christmas list in Excel, and add to (or otherwise adjust) it as the ads are leaked. Then on Thanksgiving, my sister, mom, daughter in law, and I sit at the kitchen table and go through all the paper ads. Each of us has paper and pen in hand. Then I go back to my excel list and add/delete to tweak the list and finalize the game plan.

#1 - Is this the line for the bathroom? #2 - YOU get a TV, and YOU get a TV... #3 - UGH, I ate WAY too much pumpkin pie!

What was your BEST EVER Black Friday Deal / Purchase?
Bopeep replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
So many great deals, I'd be hard pressed to say what the best one was. Last year, though, I started tracking not only what I spent but what I saved, and I saved over $400 on my daughter in law alone. -
I had not heard of this. You can bet I will be using it now though! I do all my grocery shopping at Walmart. Gottadealer's have saved me so much money over the years, I oughta be a rich woman!

watching the OU/TX game and remembered that a couple years ago our first webchat was this weekend. It may have been a practice run, I don't remember for sure.

Have you ever or Would you ever Camp Out for Black Friday Deals?
Bopeep replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
I've never camped out. The longest I've done in one line was 11 hours at WalMart for an XBox a few years ago.
