same here Rockfordmom- I just don't pay too much attention anymore. I used to really worry about it, but after a few of the cuts, I decided that it was just a number!

Amazon is quite a bit cheaper than retail stores and was offering $10 off of a $40 HP ink purchase or $20 off of $80. I got 3 of mine for the price of 1.

I don't think there's as much of an issue with online shopping as there was in year's past. I think everyone sort of learned from the Walmart crisis a few years ago. I've ordered lots of things online in the past couple of years and not had a problem. And the good thing is that the sales start early enough that if you do miss out, you can still head out and try to get it.

Over 2000 FREE MP3 Downloads @ Amazon.com

There is a lot of good music by well known artists there. There were about 20 that I knew on the front page. One quicker way to go through it is to click the 'preview all songs' tab at the top and just write down the # of the ones you like. I do it while I'm browsing GD or answering emails. -

wow- this was a posting on my blog. It sure made it a LONG ways before I could get time to post it here. -
Sorry if I was unclear- they won't match their own online prices. Ours matched the printed ads, not online sales- sorry!

Last year, Walmart ran a full ad campaign regarding the pm-ing. I searched youtube for a commercial, but I can't find it. Best Buy excludes it on BF. Did you know that it's part of Walmart's PM policy to swap generic for generic? For example, if WM carries an off brand of electronics, such as their old 'Symphonic' brand, you can pricematch it with a Best Buy exclusive 'generic' item. As far as the online PM, they don't. They usually won't PM printed ads either, but ours did last year. I was FLOORED. Because we are so rural, we get the newspaper full of scrap ads. We didn't get TRU. A friend took in the print out and got her stuff PM-ed. They said they were allowed to because there were so few ads out to comp.

This year or last? I even got one from Kmart and Target last year- don't ask me how or why.

New iPods today...Older versions on sale on Black Friday?
amyers12345 replied to Jen8112's topic in 2010
Mine lasts 4 hours with just the Kindle app running. Maybe turning off the wifi would help. I just bought this one in March- and it's been like that since I got it. Yes, Sugga- Amazon inflates the prices a bit causing it to look like a discount. MSRP was $269 on it. BUT- Amazon somehow has the ability to fluctuate 2% on their prices, so they can usually offer it a buck or two cheaper than somewhere else. -
It definitely will not be any of those listed in the poll, as they all normally release cease and desist orders that prohibit early release. I'm going to go with Ace- on September 22nd.

How many people do you buy for for Christmas?

36- so far... Blech! -
yeah- it's one of the main reason to get the ads early! Just check out your stores to see what's what and where it's located. It's not like BF stuff and only shows up that morning. That gives you extra time to make your game plan. Remember when pm-ing that you can only pricematch during the other store's sale ads. If you are wanting something that Best Buy has from 6:00-10:00, you have to purchase it at Walmart between those hours. Also, you might want to find a good hiding place for some things, in case your store does do that 'pulling from shelves' thing.

I've never had any trouble with it, and I've been doing it for 10+ years. And contrary to Station Chief's post, there are many doorbusters available. As long as the item matches, they will pricematch it. SKUs aren't always printed in the ads, therefore they have no way of knowing if it's 100% identical. Some of the doorbusters are store specific brands or bundle packages, which cannot be pricematched, but many others can. I picked up my camcorder a couple of years ago that was a BB doorbuster at Walmart. I was only able to find one WM that carried it, so some items will be YMMV We've never had any problem with WM pulling items off of the shelf either. If I couldn't PM, I wouldn't do BF. The stores in the city are so packed that I wouldn't get doorbusters anyways. I PM games, electronics, toys, SD cards, DVDs, etc.

Official Black Friday NETBOOK & TABLET Discussion Thread
amyers12345 replied to Brad's topic in 2010
I don't see much mention of netbooks anymore. I was thinking that the fad had sort of passed. I thought everyone was after smaller laptops (13-14" or so) -

The new touch has longer battery life, too. -
How many years have you been Black Friday-ing it?
amyers12345 replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2010
I started in '99. I skipped a year or so after the first one- until I got it all figured out. -
Countdown: 100 Days Until Black Friday 2010 - Update: A week left!
amyers12345 replied to Brad's topic in 2010
I didn't know that- thanks! Yeah, people aren't real internet savvy sometimes. Some of the basic technical issues that I answer on a regular basis are unreal. Something else I've run into a lot lately is that people will register with their full address but won't surrender an email address to save their lives. -
I try to keep things in budget by reasonable retail price (not the sometimes overinflated reg. price on some of the deals) unless it's a set gift limit, such as $5 per person, etc. Then I try to get as much as I can within that limit.

Thanks Brad! I have already taught 20 Christmas workshops since June and I refer them all to sign up for the ad notifications. I've had a lot of concerned emails that there isn't a place to sign up. I keep sending them! -
We saw this one the other day- it is SO cool! I have a feeling it will be big- just wish I had one young enough to play with it. [video=youtube;OvE6USPRwWY] This video isn't nearly as cool as the display was at Target- check it out!

Filler Paper was 25¢ at Office Depot yesterday. I HATE cheap filler paper, but this looked ok. I've got a drawer full I got for a penny each at Target and every time you try to write it rips- and I don't push down hard. We shop the sales and pick up the rest at Walmart. I usually try to hit the clearances every year and stock up on as much as I can. Then I just have to fill in the gaps. However, I buy all of my office supplies at this time, too- so I'm really shopping the sales. I grabbed a couple of cases of 39¢ binders, tabs, and sheet protectors at Walgreens last night. I spent $20, and it cost me $20 last week to make up one binder. You just can't beat the penny sales at Staples, but you have to have a teacher rewards card to make it worthwhile. Then you can get 25 of each item.

They are about half the price if you buy one at Walmart or Lowe's in the grill section as opposed to those cages out front. We paid $19 for ours (empty) at Lowe's, but it was $45 to get one in the cages outside. You can return them as you would any other one.
