Because I listen to audiobooks mostly, and I can fit an entire book on one MP3 CD - so if I go on a trip, I can bring multiple books by just bringing a few CDs. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

My black friday tradition so far has been to not go to sleep the night before, drive to Best Buy about 4:00 a.m., decide the line is too long, go home and go back to sleep.

Looking for a portable CD player that that plays MP3 CDs. No brand preference as long as it's decent (actually - I strongly prefer anything OTHER THAN Sony). Also, must take AA batteries. I bought one at Costco, and it took AAA batteries... don't want that. :)

Turned out my father in law has the tool, as well as a coax cable stripper that cuts the wire that sticks out to just the right length. Funny thing is, that second tool was made my the company I work for. :)

:) Best deal I've gotten on decent black socks is $6 for a 4 pairs of Dockers on sale at... Kohl's. I've seen the same socks on sale for 3 for $7.50 at Sears. Regular price is 3 for $10 everywhere. They do fade though, so the three bottles of woolite for dark clothes I got on clearance at Target come in handy there. Kohl's is great for shoes, especially if you can find them on clearance. Their sale prices are good too. Marshall's is another place for good deals on shoes. I've also had good luck at an outlet mall. Are you looking for black sneakers (i.e. cop/security guard/retail), black casual shoes, or black dress shoes? (Edit: OK, I'm retarded for not clicking the link... I thought you were making a joke, like you have to dress like Mickey Mouse or something... :) Second edit: having read what you linked to, I still have no idea what kind of shoe you have to wear.)

markraby - I had a laptop in college, the only thing it was good for was watching DVDs on trips back home. But then I wasn't a commuter. And I was also a computer science major, and we had the best computer labs on campus. :)

Judging by this thread, it looks like a lot of the current active members joined around black friday last year... maybe we'll get some more to stick around this year. :)

I'll never understand why idiots are willing to pay more than retail for a game system that the manufacturer created artificial demand for to build hype. But more power to you. :) (I'm assuming from your comment that you plan to buy systems and resell them)

I have money I could spend, but I'm not sure if there'll be anything I want to buy... I'll have to wait until the ads come out and see. Unfortunately Lowe's and Home Depot don't have great Black Friday sales, that's the kind of stuff I'd REALLY like to spend money on. :) So yeah, who knows if I'll even go shopping this BF.

Can't help you with a deal, but your boss may be disappointed with the Bose headphones as well. We borrowed my father-in-law's pair for our flight to Hawaii. They do a great job of cancelling background noise, but they don't really cancel things like people's voices. And actually since you're cancelling the background noises people's voices actually become more clear. :) My f-i-l said most people who put them on think they aren't working because you can still hear what's going on around you.

Dang it, I'm a day late on the postmark deadline for the $15 one, and I know they'll be strict about it. I guess I'll just return it.
