  1. Thing is, if I go to sleep it's unlikely that I can get up at 3 in the morning, so last year I just stayed up all night.
  2. Of course Dell would say that, they want you to buy their high-markup ink. :-) Seriously though, when you consider the amount of money you'll spend on ink over the life of the printer, it would probably be worthwhile to sell the printer and buy one with cheaper ink. My old Lexmark cost me $50, and a set of black and white and color ink tanks cost $55-60. Compare that to a hypothetical $100 printer from another brand that costs $10 for a set of B&W and color ink tanks. I gave away my Lexmark printer. By the time I changed both ink tanks on it 3 times ($165 on the Lexmark), I'd already made up the cost of the new printer + the same number of ink tanks ($100+$30). If I'd sold the Lexmark for $25, more profit for me. :-) Look at the big picture, your Dell printer is going to cost you big bucks in the long run. Lexmark uses the Gilette business model - sell the razor cheap, make huge profits on the replacement blades (which you should buy on eBay by the way :))
  3. If you do a lot of printing, you really ought to buy a different printer. It'll cost you more now, but it'll save you a ton of money in the long run. I've never been able to find cheap ink for a lexmark, but most other brands you can find generics for ~$4 apiece. My mother is a system administrator for a school and has bought a few hundred generic ink tanks in the last few years and has never had an issue with them. So at a savings of ~$20 each time you have to change a B/W OR Color tank, it won't take long for a new printer to pay for itself. :)
  4. I saw a lady in a wheelchair wearing black sunglasses with a seeing eye dog shopping by herself at Target tonight. Maybe she was rehearsing for black friday?
  5. Woah, so 24 hour walmarts will PM competitor ads before the other stores open? Do they start that at midnight? I may have to rethink my decision to never set foot in a Walmart again... after all, I'm not helping them take over the world if they lose money on me. :)
  6. Mostly at home, sometimes when I'm bored at work.
  7. Compare prices to http://www.fragrancenet.com/ before buying, you may find a better deal, you may not. Either way, you have to be a sucker to pay department store prices. :) (of course, you gotta smell the stuff somewhere...)
  8. Man, I wish all stores did it the KB way. One of the things that turns me off to black friday is the kind of people that were at your Target. Scum bags have no respect, care about no one but themselves. I see it every day on the road the way people drive, and it's 100 times worse at stores on black friday. Makes me want to climb a tower somewhere and... nevermind. :)
  9. I believe the rebate excludes OEM products, but I don't have acrobat installed so I can't be sure. The OEM version also requires that you purchase hardware, which could kill that deal even if the hardware is just a cable or something.
  10. Also, from the buy.com sale linked on the main page, $79.99 - $20 rebate Note that the rebate requires ownership of a previous version of Nero or a competing product.

    Some Stats

I hate designing for 800 x 600, it'll be a glorious day when people stop using it.
  12. Hard to resist... but I know the prices on these things will continue to drop, so I think I'll hold out until I can fit an entire DVD on one... for $40. :)

    Black Friday

Edit: Nevermind, I think I'm confused. If I get them early, I'll be sure to post here. :)

    Black Friday

How early have they been leaked in the past?
  15. Is it just me, or did he not list a store?
  16. The Dell deal the other day was $750 off Inspirons $1499 and up. I'll keep an eye out for laptop deals when the black friday circulars come out, hope you don't mind camping out at Best Buy. :-)
  17. I'm disappointed in Blockbuster's website telling me that several stores in my area have West Wing Season 2 on DVD, when in fact none of them have it. I gotta reactivate my Netflix account.
  18. Allison - if he's just a freshman in high school, why not get him a desktop computer instead of a laptop? You could get a better desktop (read: it'll last longer) than a laptop for less money, it's more upgradeable, etc. The laptop will probably never leave his desk anyway. :) Just a suggestion though, it's too bad you missed the Dell deal the other day. I remember last black Friday Best Buy had a laptop for $500 (Didn't you get one of those Rossman?), maybe you'll get lucky this year.
  19. Heh, same here basically, except I considered it to be a new computer when I changed my case at the same time as my motherboard and processor. All that's left of my original computer is my floppy drive.
  20. Well after last year when there wasn't a single person in line at Circuit City at 5:00 a.m., I think I'll just go there around opening time. If there's a line, oh well, there's nothing I want REALLY badly this year. I wouldn't mind getting some tool deals at Sears though, that'll be my second and probably final stop.
  21. I find it really disturbing that you've owned 8 computers in 4 years, and that's only desktops Rossman.
  22. Dang, $2500 computer for $1500... That's an awesome deal. 30% off isn't bad either. Wish I was in the market for a new computer.
