Well first of all, you weren't ripped off, because it didn't cost you anything. You may have been screwed or deceived, but not ripped off. That said, you may have been entitled to a rain check. Consumer protection laws vary by state, but that's a pretty clear case of deceptive business practices.

That's why Brad and Ross said you should NOT count on the order going through... it was a "nice if it works" situation, but nobody thought the chances were good that Best Buy would actually process the orders.

If I were you, I'd use that printer to re-enact a scene from Office Space... I think all Dell inkjets are rebadged Lexmarks... and I've never found cheap ink for a Lexmark. So your free printer will start to get pretty expensive when you're spending $50 to put ink in it. I got a deal on a Brother all in one a while back... $99 and it takes cheap ink.

I liked what someone mentioned in another thread - a walmart that had chairs set out for all of the spots in line that would get vouchers. Then you couldn't cut in line without physically removing a person from their chair.

That's not really necessary... I understand your frustration, but no need to offend homosexuals by lumping them in with the geek squad. Having a baby out in 0 degree weather... wow. I went to a gun show where they were firing a LOT of automatic weapons. There was a guy holding a baby with NO ear protection, so we offered him a set of ours, still in the package and unused. The guy said "no he's alright." Really? How do you know? Did you ask him? Poor baby probably suffered permanent damage from that.

Are they on the same receipt or separate receipts? Did you pay with cash or credit card? Do you have a second address you can use? I don't know what lengths they go to to check on multiple forms per household... but if they were on the same receipt I doubt that'll fly.

I wasn't pulling an all nighter... were you at the same store he was at? Who knows where the other people were coming from? Maybe they were at another store too. I'd have a little more sympathy for the kid if he didn't admit to cutting in line himself and act like he deserves the computer more than someone else because his computer sucks. This isn't communist Russia here!

Something to consider:

You weren't there for 5+ hours, you were in and out of CompUSA while someone held your spot in line. You don't deserve it any more than anyone else who had someone hold their spot in line.

If you didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to get it into your cart, I'd keep pursuing it.

Target has been my favorite store year round for a while now. Their prices are higher than Walmarts for some stuff, lower for other stuff, but it is ALWAYS a pleasant shopping experience, which I can rarely say about Walmart. My wife and I drive a little bit farther to go to Target instead of Walmart.

You know, you all should stick around and see the kinds of deals you can get year-round. :) Black Friday is not the only day of the year to get killer deals.

Uh... it sounds like you had your dad hold your spot in line so you could go to a different store, so how are you any different from the other people who held people's spots in line? And then you tried to cut in line on top of that? I don't think you "deserved" the PC any more than anyone else there.
