  1. I understand the situation quite well, thanks. If I see something at a store like Target that looks like it's too good a deal, the first thing I do is scan it at one of their price checkers to make sure that it wasn't mismarked or placed in the wrong location. But if I did make it up to the register and it rang up for 4x the price that was on the shelf, I'd just decline the purchase instead of insisting on getting it for the marked price. I wouldn't feel right about taking advantage of an employee's mistake like that. No doubt the cashier was rude, and she shouldn't have been. I just don't let inconsequential stuff like that bother me. Honestly, do you think you're acting rationally here? 1. Your husband pities the CSR you talk to on the phone, so apparently you're going to go off on someone who was entirely unrelated to the situation. 2. You're considering canceling your Target accounts because of the actions of one employee. It's a bit of an overreaction. It's not like she kicked your dog...
  2. Eh, if it was a $20 toilet seat it's a $20 toilet seat. I would have just said I didn't want it instead of insisting on getting it for 75% off.
  3. I'd watch the Sunday sale flyers. Black Friday desktop PC deals aren't all that spectacular, especially when you figure in the time you spend waiting. CompUSA has had a Compaq for $200 at least twice this year, I think 3 or more times. CircuitCity has had an Acer for <$300 3 or more times this year. (I got one for $270 with a CRT monitor and all-in-one printer). They usually have a 17" LCD as a $50 upgrade, but it's not widescreen.
  4. Is that before or after tax? DDD has it for $34.66, but they're in Ilinois so you'd have to add tax. FYE probably has a location in Illinois too, so that's why I asked if it was before or after tax. :) I hate rebates, so for a difference of $5 I'd probably go the non-rebate route. But to answer your question - that seems like a really good price from what I've seen, I wouldn't expect to see it much lower than that for a while.
  5. It wouldn't surprise me if they have another round of preorders before the release date. The preorder quantities seemed really low.
  6. It's possible and rumored, but Microsoft won't announce any price drop ahead of time so we'll have to wait and see. :) It would be nice though, I'd probably buy an Xbox 360 early next year if the price was that low. I'll buy a PS3 too... when they hit ~$250 for the low-end model... in about 5 years
  7. From what I hear the quantity available for preorder at EB Games/GameStop was really low (like 14 per store). Sold out at every store near me pretty much as soon as they opened. Good thing I got my preorder from Amazon.com. :) Yeah, it should be no issue getting one before Christmas. I'm not aware of any official price drops on the 360, but it can be found for below retail so you could get a Wii+360 for the price of a PS3. Childish? Check the list of launch titles. Blazing Angels, CoD 3, FarCray, Madden 07, Red Steel, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, World Series of Poker - these are not childish games. Nintendo is trying to shed that image this time around, mostly with third party support. I've never considered Nintendo systems to be "childish." Those "childish" games are some of most fun games I own - Mario Power Tennis, Mario Kart Double Dash, etc.
  8. Wii Sports includes baseball and golf, but I don't expect full-fledged games out of Wii Sports. It's more of an introduction to the system/control scheme. It'll be a cool party game, but I don't think the games will have enough depth to make it a fun 1-player game. I don't think there will be any substantive differences other than the control scheme. At E3 they showed how you'll be able to shoot a bow and arrow with the Wii-mote + nunchuck and fish with the Wii-mote. And of course Link has a sword, so you'll probably be able to control that by swinging the Wii-mote. I'd hope that the Wii version will also let you control Link with the GameCube controller.
  9. The Wii Sports put me over the edge... I'm going to pre-order it as long as I can do so without buying anything else other than Zelda and an additional controller. I won't be terribly disappointed if I don't get it on launch day though, I have a backlog of GameCube and Xbox games I haven't gotten around to playing that'll hold me over well into next year.
  10. http://forums.gottadeal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12 http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=38124&page=1 Forum page shows 33 replies (currently, as of Frieked's reply at 3:44 p.m.). Thread shows 26 posts (or 25 replies). Forum page shows that the thread is two pages. Thread only has one page (since it has less than 30 replies or whatever the threshold is for a second page). Forum page shows Frieked's post at 3:44 p.m. as the last post in the thread, thread shows the same so I know there's nothing I'm missing on this phantom second page. I guess you guys must have deleted or hidden or moved 8 posts? Anyway, I guess there's some bug in vBulletin or some plug-in you're using. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. :)
  11. On one hand most LCDs are made by a handful of companies so the company that made that TV probably didn't make the LCD panel. On the other hand with something that expensive I'd probably stick with a well-known brand.
  12. Not like the other companies couldn't make their own.
  13. Way to go, tard! I could have told you that. I have a ton of the Eddie Bauer lexan bottles from Target, most of them I got on clearance for $1.25.
  14. The simple answer is, you wouldn't build a comparable PC with parts from Newegg, you'd build a better PC with parts from Newegg. How much do you want for the LCD, shipped?
  15. Before you buy anything from Borders with the coupon, look around for prices online. :) Borders usually sells stuff in their B&M stores for MSRP, you can find a lot of books for much less elsewhere. The best way I've found to get good deals on books is to buy used books or publishers' remainders.
  16. Saw Scripto Aim-n-Flame lighters for $.67 (75% off) today. They're great for lighting jar candles without burning yourself. :) Wish they were refillable though.
  17. All extremely cheap laptops are tempting to me. I'd like to have a new one, but it doesn't have to have great specs because it wouldn't be my main computer. Just need something portable. I'm in the process of rehabilitating my old one to serve that purpose, but I'm having issues getting it to boot from a CD. :) I agree with Ross on the 512 MB of RAM, and I'd settle for a plain old 15" non-widescreen LCD. It'd totally buy it if it had those two things. Edit: Maybe
  18. If you're ruling out Costco and Sam's Club, there's always Walmart. I like Costco though. If you drive in snow, BF Goodrich's Traction T/As are great. DEFINITELY use Tirerack to look at ratings and user reviews. Don't base your purchase on price alone. More expensive tires are not necessarily better.
  19. Hot deal if you refuse to use CFs, but CFs will save you more in the long run on your electricity costs.
  20. I got an error: Coupon 30APRIL2006 is not valid!
  21. It's a good deal, but I don't need it or have space on the counter for it. I am the jar opener in our house. I'd get my grandmother one, but she probably already has one.
