Yeah... last year's clearance deals. $10 for a single string of non-flashing lights is absurd... are they mini lights or big lights? Mini lights only cost a couple bucks for 100 at Target.

Capitalism? Sure. At its best? Hah! When I read stuff like that, it makes me wonder if people think about what they're typing, or if they're just repeating a phrase they've heard over and over again.

Did you end up getting this? If not, I picked it up at Target tonight just in case... it's yours for exactly what I paid for it plus exact shipping (media mail should work fine). I used a 10% off card, so I got it for slightly less than the advertised price... plus 6% tax. Let me know. :)

I'm not familiar with that particular drill, but what I think you're referring to is torque, not speed. It's so you don't strip screws. Torque is controlled by a dial near the chuck, speed is controlled by the trigger (and sometimes a switch to change from high/low speed to give you more control). :)

Then I would be quite pissed. Become a thorn in their side until you get what you want.

This happens all too often... people need to learn to open the box right then and there. Best Buy needs to train their employees to recognize the difference between a computer and WOOD. This is particularly common with high end video cards... people replace them with ethernet cards. Best Buy needs to train the employees at the customer service desk to recognize the difference!

Well... I left my parents' house around 10:00... stopped at Lowe's, got to my house at 11:30 maybe? Realized my Shop Vac was missing a hose around 12:30, left at 12:40 and returned home again at 12:55 with a new Shop Vac. Around 8:30 p.m. I went to a local electronics store to buy a laptop, got home again at 9:30 p.m.

Haha... no, they knew there'd be a lot of people wanting the door busters, but they're losing money on them, that's why there's not a lot.

That's great! I hope Best Buy/Circuit City/Walmart/whoever's corporate offices take note of where things went well this year and where the disasters were and figure out how to handle the bad situations for next year. I remember being in a Circuit City a while back and thinking about how many people they must have in there on Black Friday, so I took note of the building capacity... it was like 700 people! I think they set those limits just a tad high.

I think a lot of states' attorneys general are going to be getting letters about Black Friday sales...

Sears had the same deal on their 18V drill. But I like how Ryobi has a TON of different tools you can buy separately. They're not "professional-grade" tools (neither are Craftsman power tools really), but they're great for a homeowner.

I spent... $30 on a Shop Vac and I just picked up a laptop for $449 after $300 MIR.

The 5 year warranty was a good selling point when I bought my 300 GB for $79.99 AR. :) I've had a few hard drives die (Maxtors and WDs), probably due to cooling issues in my case.

Do you have an address at work you could use? Or a friend you'd trust to actually give you the rebate check when it arrives? :)
