My husband is deploying soon, and it was suggested to him that he store all of his paperwork on a Flash drive. I have one, but it's only 256mb, and he really needs a bigger one(a lot of the paperwork he's receiving is in PDF form, which does take up some space) I'd prefer no rebates, just because they seem to take forever to arrive. Any help?

Fisher Price has recently started making seats that are basically Britax(same shells, no twist straps)but without as many of the bells and whistles(tether can't be used rearfacing, no built in locking clips) that is almost $100 less than the Britax Marathon. From what I've heard, Burlington Coat Factory is carrying it in their stores, or check on Google. the seat is called the Fisher Price Safe Voyage. That would be great for a main seat. As for a spare seat, while I'm not a Cosco fan(I've ranted about them before) The Scenera is inexpensive, and relatively easy to use. I personally have a Britax Marathon(had it for over 2 years already) My son is turning 4 in a few weeks, and is still well within the height and weight restrictions. He has at least 1 year left in it, possibly 2 full years. The Roundabout, while a great seat, has an upper limit of 40lbs, compared to 55 on the Safe Voyage(and 65 on the Marathon) It is worth it to spend the extra little bit of money to get a seat that will last longer. Kids are safer staying in a harnessed seat as long as possible. And you should always get your installations checked by a certified carseat technician, go to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CPS/CPSFitting/Index.cfm Up to 95% of carseats are being installed or used incorrectly.

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2005-06
jadedmomof2 replied to Gator Pam's topic in Offline Hot Deals
My Target had the Circo brand jean shorts/ tshirts(infant/toddler sizes) on clearance, reg 3.99 clearance was 2.78. I only saw boy stuff, but I wasn't really looking for the girl items. -
Well, I think you need to look at them again...The Evenflo and Graco seats have a published higher top harness slot height. Being tall isn't what counts, having a tall torso is. If your child's shoulders are OVER the top harness slots, you can no longer use the harness. I've yet to meet an average size 4 year old who can use a harness on a Cosco/Dorel/Safety 1st combination seat because of their height. And BTW, carseat techs. can't RECOMMEND any one seat over another, if they are, they are in need of some serious re-training. It's not allowed. One reason I'm not one anymore. We can recommend ones that may work the best for them, but can't just recommend one specific brand over the other. Generally, the seats they give away at seat checks are bought in bulk. They try to get seats that will spread their dollar furthest, yet still get children, who may not even have a carseat, into a carseat. Would I rather see a child in a Cosco seat than some 20 year old, pieces missing seat, yes. But, if a parent is out researching seats, then yes, I believe that they should look at other seats, not just go for the cheapest thing available.

Ooh, one spot is on clearance again?! Yay!! -
Just so you know Safety 1st is Cosco, as is Dorel ,and I think they have another name too. The big problem with Cosco combination seats is that their top harness slots are at least 3-4 inches shorter than other seats, which means if you have even an average height child, they will outgrow the seat in height before they would outgrow it in weight. I've seen 2 year olds that are too tall for Cosco seats, my oldest son was too tall at barely 3 years of age. And Cosco was required to donate a very large number of carseats a few years back, due to a lawsuit. That's why organizations were giving them out. Plus, they are inexpensive, not always easy to use, but inexpensive.

the connecticut law is woefully out of date. Over half the states now require booster seats to at least 6 years of age(as well they should)
-
Let me just say that when you've had a Britax, nothing else will seem as nice or easy to use. Avoid Cosco, really. Their harness slots are low, horrible twisty straps, and there is absolutely no padding on their seats. If you are looking at a seat that can rearface, try the Graco Comfortsport orr the Evenflo Triumph. If you are looking for a combination seat(harnessed seat to 40lbs, booster to 80 or 100lbs) Evenflo Chase or Graco Cargo(make sure you get a model that adjusts in the front)

It does show up in your reviews, but you can go back and change your last name to the initial instead. I've already done 5, I think I can do 10 a day and get the $100 gc. BTW, the gift card is only good online. -

Graco(and Evenflo) both only sell certain patterns at certain stores. So those patterns are more then likely BRU only. -

do you get any car wash discount coupons...
jadedmomof2 replied to sanam's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
One of the gas station chains here gives a free basic car wash with an 8 gallon gas fill on Tuesdays(or money off of the "premium" car wash packages) And if you get your oil changed at certain places, you get a free car wash too. -
They've been 30% up here for awhile, I was waiting for them to hit 50% and then picking up a few. One of the rooms in our house doesn't heat well, so it would be nice to have a little space heater in it.

Eddie Bauer High Back Booster
jadedmomof2 replied to bovichtj's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Why idoes the Target website have the Big Kid listed as a convertible(rearfacing and forward facing harnessed) carseat? It's a booster seat. She needs a seat with a harness because her child is too young to just sit in a booster seat. -

Rear adjusting means that in order to adjust the harness, you have to un-install the seat, and adjust the straps from the back. Front adjusting means the harness adjuster is in the front, like most convertible carseats. -

The strap adjuster on the Evenflo is actually harder to figure out than traditional strap adjusters. And stay away from Cosco/Eddie Bauer/Safety 1st(all the same company) carseats. They is very little padding on them, and if you are looking for a combination seat(harnessed seat now, booster later) the top strap slots are very low, so if you have a child with a tall torso, it won't fit with the harness for long. Graco and Evenflo make combination seats with high top harness slots. If you are looking for just a booster seat(if you're child is over 40lbs) then look at the Graco Turbo booster. Toys r Us even has a Rescue Heroes(or hotwheels, can't remember) pattern. -

There were a bunch of the little stuffed animals at my store too, I bought about 20 of them(and there were still plenty on the shelves). And some candy left, good stuff too. I also got Spiderman2 for the PS2 for 10.48, and Virtual Pool for the PC for 2.48. There were also GBA video cartridges on clearance, I believe they were 7.48. I saw Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragonball GT at my store. Forgot one, Jones Soda Co. energy drinks-50% off , 2.48 for a 4 pack. Lots of different flavors available(the mixed berry, which I bought, is quite good) -

Yes, you need to have the appropriate Leap Pad(My First LeapPad, LeapPad, LeapPad plus writing or Quantum Pad) to use the books to their full potential. The books can still be read without the LeapPads, but the different games/activities available with the books/cartridges won't be there. -
Target and thrift stores
jadedmomof2 replied to jadedmomof2's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Now, I would love it if I knew exactly what day they got the merchandise at our stores. But, the chain has a central warehouse, and everything from the stores gets shipped from there. As for finding out which thrift stores in your area do this, check Goodwill first. It seems that in most areas, that's the thrift store Target uses. An easy way to tell is if you find Cherokee or Mossimo branded clothing items, with the name crossed out. I forgot my other good find, a Glade Plug-ins 2pack, "mom's apple pie" for $1.50. -
Well, when I checked out with the coat, I was asked if I was a member, and I said no, but that I wanted to join. It only takes a few minutes, and doesn't cost anything. My reason for it was because my oldest son is tough on coats, this way, if he breaks the zipper on this coat, it will get replaced.
