Sorry for not responding to this sooner, but I can tell you that most likely the Wii U will not be able to play DVDs or any kind of media for that matter (CDs, Blu-rays, etc.). The simple reason is that Nintendo doesn't develop entertainment platforms, they develop gaming platforms. They only focus on gaming. Plus if you think about in Nintendo's eyes they have no reason to support media playback. In today's modern society pretty much everyone that would want a Wii U is already going to have some kind of a DVD or Blu-ray player that would ultimately perform better than the Wii U itself could. So while I won't swear with 100% definitive certainty that the Wii U will not play any DVDs, but if I was a betting man I'd be all-in on the Wii U not playing DVDs.

I agree with you completely. Checking out can take quite some time if you haven't any one to stand in line for you. This random guy did say that one of the two people was a manager, but even so, until this one is confirmed I'm taking it with a grain of salt. In fact since this random person posted this, I've heard no other reports to help validate his claim. I guess we will find out on the 23rd.

Unless I am blind is that a front-loading washer and dryer - $699.99 for the pair? Seems like a really good deal, and from the research I have been able to do it seems that both the washer and dryer are energy star rated. EDIT - This deal doesn't seem to carry any MIRs and WOW, check this out, http://www.hhgregg.com/content2/black_friday_infographic, our website was mentioned in their infographic.

I won't disclose my location as I don't want a bunch hardcore shoppers beating me to the front of the line, but here's what I'm struggling with. My nearest Best Buy is about 40 minutes away. It is in a fairly populated area and from previous experiences when the store would open there would be between 1 to 2 thousand people in line or so went the claim. Now the first year I lined up at BB on BF was the first year this BB opened (2006). I line up at 2pm on Thanksgiving day and was first in line. Next year I lined up around 4 or 5PM I think and was 5th in line I believe. Next year I didn't line up at all, and last year I lined up at around 1AM on BF (Was only looking for a Blu-ray player last year) at around the 150 mark. I was thinking to get that $79.99 24" TV and more I should line up at around 9AM Thanksgiving day just to be safe, but I'm not sure it's safe enough. I've taken the stance that in my area 15 hours prior to opening was good enough to get any of the ticketed items. Not so sure this year. I do know my area gets rather cold and my store isn't doing any kind of movie event. Also I know my area isn't one of the largest like those in New York, California, Texas, etc. I mean no one in my area has ever lined up earlier than Thanksgiving day.

Alright take this one with a grain of salt, but according to a guy on another forum, he claims that two different people at a Best Buy told him that the PS3 bundle would be $149.99 for the first hour or so and not the $199.99 that's listed in the ad.

Black Friday Comparison Charts - Tell Us What You Think!
DaFees replied to stationchief's topic in 2011
Hey, First I want to say that everyone behind these charts does an amazing job. I love all the detail and (at least to me) ease of use. Now, I am here with an idea for one of the charts. A "computer accessories" chart was mentioned. I think what would be good is not necessarily every accessory ever, but at the least cover all external hard drives, flash usb drives, memory cards (sd, microsd, sdhc, etc.). I mean I know these devices don't carry too many specs except maybe the type of connectors if it's an external hard drive, or the class number if it's a memory card, but it would be nice to just have all available options out there, then it would give users a nice way to see what is the best bang for their buck. Now if you like this idea, that's good. I'm busy all day today (Sunday) but come Monday if no one else has tackled this one, I may be able to do it then. -
That Blu-ray player is a "wicked" deal, so much so that as I'm in line to get things for myself and others I'll be picking up one of those for a friend. As for lining up to get one of these players? Well I know last year Best Buy had an Insignia Blu-ray player for $89.99 and I was able to show up ~4 hours before they opened and I easily scored one, but then again they had a stack of like a hundred of them (even though the ad said a min of 15) and this player wasn't the doorbuster model. I was interested in this one because the doorbuster model didn't offer netflix streaming and all of that. Things are different this year. The doorbuster Blu-ray player will do netflix streaming (and more) and is $39.99 which is as stated earlier a great deal. Basically this is one of those deals I think you will need to line up for but I don't think you need to be one of the first ten in line nor should you have to show up 12+ hours before store opening to get one. EDIT - I should clarify that my info is based on my experiences, depending on where your located could play a large role in how early you need to line up.

Word to the wise, although it ultimately may not matter to some, but I can almost assure you that with these used Wii consoles the Wii remotes won't have the Wii Motion Plus built in, so if you want to play games like the new Wii Motion Plus, then you'll either have to purchase the Wii Motion Plus add-on or purchase some Wii remotes with it built in. Also I would have to say that unless gamestop would do any kind of price matching then their ad seems rather weak. I mean I was anticipating this ad quite a bit, but seeing how little they're genuinely trying to match the deals that Wal-Mart/Target/Best Buy are putting out I can't say the anticipating was fully worth it. About the only nice deal I can see for me specifically is they appear to be offering you more for your console trade-ins, which is good as I'm looking to trade my old PS3 in for a new slim.

"SAVE $100 ON ANY TABLET1 WITH 2-YEAR ACTIVATION OF A VERIZON MOBILE HOTSPOT2" 1 Markdown taken from regular prices. Excludes Outlet Center and Marketplace items, special order, clearance, demo and open box items. Offer available in stores only. 2 Carrier requirement may include data plan subscription, credit approval, usage and termination fees. Offer valid on any tablet or laptop. Carriers, coverage, and products may vary by store. Excludes Sprint, AT&T, and No Contract devices. Available in New Jersey Given that none of the tablets state that their price is the price after two year activation I would have to assume that the listed prices are the base prices and if you sign up for a two contract that you would then get an additional $100 off.

Forgive my ignorance on the matter, but with Thanksgiving being a holiday that banks are closed during and you (the OP) claiming your friend's pay date should fall on Black Friday well are you certain that the money will even show up on midnight Thursday night? I mean sure if a bank is normally open Thursdays and they can do processing that day then it would make sense for the desposit to show up at midnight, however if the banks aren't open, might your friend's pay not show up until late Friday possibly Saturday? Again, forgive my ignorance, but I just think with the banks not being open on Thanksgiving that might cause a little issue here.

When it comes to games they usually don't disappear super quick, but I would try to get into the store when they open and not wait until later in the day. I'm not saying you have to line up super early or anything. As for whether or not Wal-Mart will price match Best Buy's price. Well Wal-Mart wiil absolutely PM Best Buy. You just need to have a copy of the print ad to show them, and they will gladly match it no problem. OH and welcome to the forums and to this amazing community. If you should happen to have any further questions as you prepare for your first Black Friday adventure (which you are going to love) feel free to ask. There is plenty of people around that would be glad to help.

Ok, I'm still on excitement overload, ;yay:, after just getting home and absorbing all the new ads being posted. I am loving the deal on that 42" TV. Best Buy definitely has some deals on electronics and movies. To me, in comparing this ad to the Wal-Mart and Target ads that Wal-Mart seems to have the best prices on games. Sure each respective store has their one deal or two, but most of the goods on gaming are Wal-Mart. Oh how about two deal shoutouts!: a Toshiba Blu-ray player for $39.99!! and a 16GB usb flash drive for $11.99!! 3D Blu-rays for $17.99 is a great deal when you consider what these titles normally go for on Amazon.com! Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy on Blu-ray for $49.99 seems like a good deal! This is all a lot to process at once, but let me put this out there if anyone has any questions about games, deals on games, console hardware and accessories or deals on these items, I can probably lend you some advice so do not hesitate to ask, :)

Alright I just came home after a morning of doing things and I find this and the BB ad posted and now I'm on excitement overload!, Alright let me cover some of the deals so as to help everyone out here. Let's start with page one and the Xbox 360 for $139.99. In my honest opinion I would pass on this one and not even go near it! Why? Because Wal-Mart has the same 4GB console w/ a Kinect and a $50 GC all for $199.96. You can just get that deal and if you honestly don't want the Kinect sensor you could take it to a local gameshop or something and sell it for I would say around $50 but definitely nothing over $100. So I mean if you get lucky here, you can net a better deal than Target's. Next the PS3 is the same as Wal-Mart, but you will want to score this at Target and I'll explain why in a second. Another super deal (one that I wholeheartedly hope to score) is the Xbox Kinect w/ Kinect Adventures, Gunstringer, Fruit Ninja AND Wipeout 2 (A full game that the Wal-Mart offering doesn't include) all for $99. Now with those last two deals you'd be best to get them at Target if you can because with Target's REDCard you can save 5% off all your purchases, so 5% off either of those deals would be great! To close, here is a suspicious note, the Target ad has NO DEALS on a Nintendo Wii, hmm... Interesting.

Hi, I just wanted to reply to this comment so as to clear up a little confusion. You're right there is no Wii 2, and probably never will be. The next Nintendo console is the Wii U, which may possibly be coming out late next year. Some may consider this the Wii 2, but that's not it's official name. As for this "handheld device" it isn't so much a handheld device as it is the new controller. It will features 6" touch screen along with the usual bevy of controls and buttons. This new controller will not work with the old Wiis available now, only with the new Wii U when it comes out. This will most likely apply for all the Wii U accessories. However, I should note that all Wii accessories (or at least I assume all of them, if not at the very least the most popular of them) will work with the Wii U. This shouldn't be surprising as the Wii U will play Wii games. One other thing to note is that the Wii U will be Nintendo's first HD console ever, with graphics that should give the 360 and the PS3 a run for their money. Also note that while this new console will make the new games look good, it won't weave any kind of magic to make your Wii games look any better than they already do. So, there you have it. If you have any questions I can gladly answer them.

Well if you intend to get a 3D Blu-ray player to go with it then that is fine. You can get the Vizio as long as would get a 3D Blu-ray player with it. Hoesntly, looking through the currently available ads I can't find a better deal than the Vizio. I was quick to dismiss it based on the fact that it is a Vizio, but upon further review I'll reneg that. There isn't anything really wrong with the TV itself, unless somebody else has their own opinion, but my point about having good 3D content still stands. Again, if you get a 3D Blu-ray player to go with it, that'll be a great start.
-
Honestly if all you have is a 360, Wii and streaming services for movies, I would really think twice about a 3D TV. The main benefit to a 3D TV comes from PS3 Games and 3D Blu-rays, but if you have neither a PS3 or 3D Blu-ray player a 3D TV isn't exactly worth it. Yes there are a couple 360 games in 3D and some services will stream 3D movies but only if you subscribe to such services. Either way though the quality of 3D provided by 360s and streaming services isn't anything to write about. As for whether or not the 3D TV itself is any good? Well it's a nice budget model that would allow the average consumer to jump into the 3D game. Again, as I said though, unless you have quality 3D content you might want to more consider one of the other TVs available. EDIT - Oh and I don't intend to sound harsh or anything, I'm not saying you can't get a 3D TV, I'm just saying you should think about it.

All those prices except for the Xbox 360 4GB Console seem right to me and these prices are verified by certain other competing websites. If you look at the Wal-Mart BF ad they have the Xbox 360 with the Kinect and a $50 GC for $199.96. They also have the Kinect by itself for $99.96. So logic would suggest that we could expect just the 4GB console by itself for $99.99 because otherwise could we not just buy the $199.99 bundle and sell the Kinect for $50 to $100 and combine that with the $50 GC to ultimately come out ahead. On a more related note, the price on that 46" LCD HDTV is a great price.

Thank you, that article only helps to validate the real possibility that this $99 blue Wii will not support Gamecube games.
-
I'm sorry but unless you have proof of that statement you are misinformed. All new Wiis being made will no support Gamecube games. If you look at my post here, http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?237279-Walmart-Black-Friday-Ad-Posted&p=1883608&viewfull=1#post1883608, as well as the other posts in that thread you'll see. It's highly likely that because other Wiis coming out don't support Gamecube games, that this one won't either. EDIT - I will say you were right though that all Wiis can be laid flat.
-
Proof? Sure! Here is Nintendo's official website, http://www.nintendo.com/wii/console, read the text above the "Buy Now" button. Here is the amazon.com product listing for the latest Wii bundle, http://www.amazon.com/Black-Console-Super-Mario-Brothers-nintendo/dp/B005QWYKOE/ref=sr_tr_sr_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1320914665&sr=8-4. Notice how under product features it says that it doesn't support Gamecube games and accessories. The product reviews even validate that. Lastly here is a news article from a popular gaming website that says the same thing, http://www.shacknews.com/article/70553/black-wii-holiday-bundle-coming-october-23-removes-gamecube-support. Any other questions? Don't hesitate to ask, :) EDIT - It seems I've been beaten to the punch, but yes if you want a Wii with Gamecube support then you need to purchase one of the bundles that includes Mario Kart. Unfortunately though I wouldn't bet on there being a deal on any of the bundles that have Mario Kart. In fact I might not wait till Black Friday to get one of the Mario Kart bundles, because retailers may be trying to phase out that bundle in favor of the new bundle that includes New Super Mario Bros and no Gamecube support.
-
What you are thinking of the is the Wii U which is Nintendo's next big console and that won't be coming out until next year, BUT as of around October 23rd all new Wii consoles manufacturered and sold no longer include support for Gamecube games and accessories. So no the Wii U as it's called isn't out yet, it's just new Wiis being made don't support Gamecube games and such.
-
in regards to the Xbox 360 deal, I refer you to my earlier post, http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?237279-Walmart-Black-Friday-Ad-Posted&p=1883035&viewfull=1#post1883035. As for the PS3 deal I'll simply say that at this time it is in fact the best deal you are going to find. The PS3 currently retails for $249.99 and doesn't include any games with it. Here you'd be getting the console for $50 less and plus two free games. Unless some other retailer pulls a surprise on us by offering a better deal, then well Wal-Mart will be your best bet.
-
Ok, I feel I need to say something. If you're looking for a Wii with Gamecube support this $99 model isn't for you. I don't know if you are aware of this, but you should really have a look at this post I made earlier for more detail, http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?237279-Walmart-Black-Friday-Ad-Posted&p=1883073&viewfull=1#post1883073.

This could be a real possibility because if you think about it, between midnight and 8AM Wal-Mart doesn't give it's customers any reason to stay in their store, leaving them to wonder off to other places (not counting those that'll already be open (Target/Best Buy) like Sears, for example. So I could see Wal-Mart putting out a separate secret ad with some deals to intice customers to line up for them after their midnight purchases.
