    Laptops

@TazErase - Thank you for your response. It was quite helpful to me, but I have a quick follow-up... Do you think for the $300 - $400 price range this Toshiba laptop for $379.99 @ BB will be this year's best bet for a laptop that can do some decent gaming? I noticed either Office Max or Office Depot had a laptop for $349.99, so I wanted to know your's or anyone else's opinion.

    Laptops

Well I've been following this thread for a little bit now, I figured I'll jump in with a question. First, I'd like to think I know a fair bit about laptops, but I figured I'm come here for some opinions. My cousin who likes to play games is looking for a cheap laptop this BF that'll handle some gaming. I would say that this laptop should be able to play a game like Call of Duty 2 at or near the max resolution of say a 15.4" screen is capable of. Also if possible it should be able to handle some Half Life 2 and it's episodic add-ons. Therefore, my question is will the $379 Toshiba laptop at BB on BF handle what I just mentioned. How about this rumored $229 laptop? I know that laptop won't do HL2, but like what level of games could it do?
  3. I notice Target has a promotion where if you get one of the two DS bundles you get a free $10 gift card with it. Could I go to Target and price match CCs $139.99 price on the bundle and still get the $10 gift card for free? I assume you could, but I like to double check
  4. No, perhaps I should be more clear to say I have inside hook ups and this was the best I could do at this point.
  5. Hello everyone, I wasn't able to get the full ad as I have no cameras nor could I just walk out of the store with a copy of the ad, but I did manage to write some things down... So here it goes: Open from 4am to midnight with "early birds" till 1pm All toys 50% off All jewelery (except specialty brands like Vera) 60% off + additional 20% off Nextar x3 GPS $99.99 with $20 MIR Free 6-in-1 game cube (180pc set, includes chess, checkers, poker chips, dice, cards) with $35 beauty purchase Digital Labs 7" portable DVD player $49.99 after $30 MIR $29.99 mp4 2gb video / audio player 50% off all kids apparel 10%-50% off all kitchen electrics Samsung 8.1mp Digital Camera with 3x optical zoom, $79.99 (looks like the same one sears is having at their friends and family sale this Sunday night) $10 Kohl's Cash for every $50 you spend online and in our stores. This offer is good for both BF and Saturday This is all I have for now and the earliest I could get more info would be this coming Friday. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask as I may be able to answer them.
  6. Forgive me for visiting another BF site beyond this one, but while I was on this other site I saw their BB BF ad scan and I can confirm that all of the above is valid as the ad scan I saw had a few extra pages of which included the above mentioned deal. While I can say the ad scan on this site is missing a few pages I can't say those missing pages add up to making this ad actually worthwhile. Either way I thought I'd point this out. :)
  7. I know I've already made clear my distaste for this year's ad. However I feel I need to point out one other thing. If you look closely at this year's ad you'll notice that BB is selling the SONY BDP-S350 Blu-Ray player for $249.99 while Sears is selling this very exact same player for $179.99 on BF. Now I'll admit there is a few good deals here and there like the doorbuster laptop, but there's not enough in this ad to leave me feeling satisfied. Please at this point accept my apologies if my bit of ranting here goes against forum policies. Thank you all, and I hope the week of BF online secret specials wow us.
  8. I feel we are not seeing the whole picture in this ad. I feel someone is either giving us incomplete or invalid information. I'm not trying to say the ad is fake, but seriously were all the movie deals. I look at last year's ad which had like a whole page of movie deals including the everything HBO half off. I see nothing to this effect in this years ad. Plus this years ad is 14 pages shorter than last year's ad. Something seems odd. Am I right?
  9. Hello everyone, fellow BFer here with a key question on HDTV deals for this year. I've been reading and I agree that this year will be a good year to get a good deal for an new HDTV on Black Friday, but here's my thing. I recently (two months ago) got myself a nice new 46" Samsung LCD HDTV online at Amazon.com for a few hundred dollars less than what any B&M store wanted for the same TV. So my key question is this, will we find better deals on an HDTV this year at a B&M store like Best Buy on BF or at a online shop like Amazon.com on the following Cyber Monday. I only ask this because my Brother and his wife are looking for a new HDTV and I've told them to save their money for BF. My thing is, if you order a TV online you needn't stand in a line or anything like that and needn't worry about trying to purchase a TV and beat the rush in one shot. However if you go with a B&M store you get the 30-day price match guarantee (considering amazon.com recently ceased their policy), plus needn't wait for it be shipped. Also as a side question, how does purchasing a TV on BF work or more generally how does purchasing a TV on any day work at a B&M store, because I've never bought a TV from a B&M store?
  10. I know this deal is a month old now, but it's still going, in fact it's better now then before. The TV is now down to $2199.99. So the topic title could probably use an update. It should be noted though that at this point the offer for the free up-converted dvd player is over with.
  11. I've been eying up this TV for a long time and with the recent yet phenomenal price drops I just had to post this as a deal. Currently at amazon.com, HERE, you can get the Samsung 52" 1080p 120HZ LCD HDTV for $2299.98 (Model: LN-T5271F) !! That's only the half of it though, through may 5th they will throw in a free Samsung DVD-1080P8 1080p Upconverting DVD Player. This is all with free shipping and no promo codes needed!! Apparently, Amazon is trying to get rid of the LN-T5271F's to make room for the newer models with the "touch of color". This new model basically has red coloring in the frame and an Ethernet port built-in. Other then that both TV's appear to be exactly the same. I highly recommended you jump on this deal ASAP before their supply runs dry. Also for those of you wonder there is a newer model LN-T5281f which has an LED thingy built it, this model costs much more and is not worth it. I read this LED thingy only improves your blacks only in the blackest of black situations i.e. a pure black screen. I swear if I had the money I'd be all over this deal, unfortunately I don't, This deal is a really incredible one, I guarantee it, and if you don't believe me just look at the 244 reviews giving this TV mostly 5 out of 5 star reviews. Well, enjoy, and happy shopping! EDIT - See my most recent post, below, for updated details on this deal.
  12. Well thank you for your response, but don't worry I know my TVs and I am doing my best to make sure my parents get a good one.
  13. Hello fellow deal-finders, I have a couple questions about Sears? Recently, my parents acquired some extra cash for spending, and well my dad wants to spend his share on a new HDTV. The best deal he has been able to find thus far to maximize bang for his buck was a Hitachi 42" 1080p LCD HDTV from Sears for $1199.99. The question I have about Sears is, well my aunt can get my dad $25 Sears gift cards for $20 and she can get 20 cards at this price. However, my dad and I went to Sears today to look at this HDTV and make sure he likes and while there one of the associates told my dad he could only use ten cards on an in store purchase. Is this true? Could this be avoided by making the purchase online (If the last question is true)? If the problem couldn't be remedied by making the purchase online, could the cards some how be combined into one card? Also in an unrelated point, I hear there is a friends and family night coming up on the 30th of this month. Any idea if the friends and family discounts could be applied to this HDTV my dad wants? Well that's all for now. I look forward to and appreciate your responses.
  14. I am wondering this one myself?
  15. Ok, while on the subject of tickets, I have a question. I'll be brave and stand in line for my sister-in-law to get her one of the $499.99 laptops. However I also plan to pick up a few other things while at Best Buy, should I grab these other items first or go straight for the pick-up line for the ticketed items? I mean what's the best plan of attack here?
  16. I'll be getting... 1x $499.99 laptop package (for my sister-in-law) 1x Sex in the City complete series at 50% off (for my dad) 1x 320gb HDD for $59.99 (unless newegg pulls through with a better deal) 2x 2gb Usb flash drives (one for me, one for my sister-in-law) I'll also be getting other stuff at some other stores.
  17. Well when you make the turnaround seem so fast on the "easy" rebates, I might just have to consider that 400gb model from staples (That would just mean one more stop for me during my Black Friday adventure) I can only hope that Newegg.com chimes in with something super, maybe a 500gb SATA HDD for $60 with free shipping. :)
  18. I'm checking out that 320gb HDD from BB for $59.99, but is this the best deal? Is there any others out there that are a better deal. I know there's the WD 400gb at staples, but that has rebates involved, which I do not like, Anyone anticipating any better deals to pop up? I'm looking for at least another 320gb hard drive and it has to be SATA preferably with a 16mb cache.
  19. Well I have a question... I've been previewing the ads for a few weeks now and I've been talking with my sister-in-law. She wants a laptop and in all-in-one printer. I told her about the deal at Best Buy where you get a laptop, canon all-in-one printer (it's a great printer from what I've seen/read), laptop bag, mouse, and preinstalled anti-virus software for $499.99 but I have to ask is this the best deal out there that'll fit what my sister-in-law wants. (understanding of course she wants a laptop to mainly surf the web, play music, run chat clieants, mess around with photos but nothing professional with photoshop and such, play DVDs, and maybe edit some home movies in windows movie maker.) I mean I believe this is the best deal for her, but i just want to make sure, because I don't like it when I'm wrong, :) EDIT - while I'm thinking about it, I know stores like Best Buy are probably going to have a separate insert in the papers which includes more computer and TV deals, would anyone anticipate there being a better deal, where you get a laptop and a good all-in-one printer?
  20. Well I am very interested in the HP lappy from compusa for my cousin. He wants a laptop for home-school and things like youtube and listen to music, but he also likes to play some games on the side. (nothing extreme like crysis or oblivion or any other highly demanding games). Anyways I have a quick question. Anyone know if the 17" display is an HD display, I mean if my cousin wanted to download movie trailers in 720p and enjoy them in all their beauty, could he? Also for a reference anyone know, roughly what desktop graphics card the one in this laptop would compare to? I mean is the GeForce Go 6150 comparable to say a 6800gt graphics card (which is what I currently have)?
  21. Although I couldn't take advantage of it at the time as I didn't know about it because I don't think I had discovered this website by that time, however I'd have to say one of the better years was the year McD's did the best buy bucks thing and that there was no limit to the amount of thsoe bucks you could use on a single purchase especially on BF. Plus that year, all the input costs versus you what got to spend or your output left you extra (free) money you could spend at best buy.
  22. I browse these forums every day looking for the latest ads, and I keep hearing a lot about stores that are doing special thanksgiving day secret releases... whether it be some super secret online deal, or a super secret previously unannounced in store deal. Well my question is, is that I am planning to go line up at my nearest BB bright and early on thanksgiving day to wait inline to get one of their laptops, well if I'm standing in line at BB on thanksgiving day (and I do not have a device that can access the internet), how the heck am I to know if a store like BB isn't doing some super secret previously unannounced deal that would beat out the laptop deal I'm waiting in line for? How does one factor this point in?

    Lowes BF ad

Thank you for this ad, the only thing I noticed was they'll be having a nice 6 qt. crock pot on sale that my mom wants, plus the $10 gift card via MIR is nice.
  24. Well I've a quick question, best buy has a laptop for $399, then if you pay a $100 more (total $499) you get some extras, like a printer, a bigger hard drive, etc. Would the $399 lappy versus the $499 lappy each be two different tickets or just one ticket and you just check off that you want the extras for the $100 more?
  25. Thank you for your input, but I should say I told my sister-in-law for the extra $100 she can get the bigger hard drive plus that all-in-one printer, and I looked into and that print looks really good (not the best, but great for her). Also I told her it would be smart to go with 2GBs, and she agrees but she's uncertain at this time if she wants to upgrade, and I told her that's fine that she can upgrade when ever she wants to. Lastly I'll have to talk to her again then, but I think the built in windows movie maker is all she really need or would use. But again thank you for your input. I believe my sister-in-law and my brother too will both be pleased by this laptop. One small question before I go, is it the laptop or the printer that needs a usb bluetooth adapter in order to do the wireless printing feature offered by the printer (It's not that big of deal, I'm just curious)?
