  1. Alright I see some people talking about the sony $399 lappy from BB on BF. Well I showed this to my sister-in-law and she really wants one. I know it'll handle everything she wants to (i.e. net surfing, photos (downloading them from her camera, editing them, and sharing them), music, word processing, etc.), anyways my question is, she has children and occasionally likes to use her camera to take some videos of her kids. Could this lappy handle video editing (I know for a fact she would only do basic cropping, she would get fancy and want anything really professional.) ?
  2. Thank you for your suggestion, I showed it to my sister-in-law and she liked what she saw. She wasn't sure if she'd jump on it right away, but she did like it nonetheless. Thank you.
  3. Sorry if I'm interrupting a good conversation on HQ cameras, but my sister-in-law is looking for a new digital camera. She currently has some old 3.2 MP camera that takes below average pictures. She's looking for a nice camera that will takes pictures that would make nice 8x10 prints. She's also looking to keep it around the $100 mark (This is a little flexible, I might convince her to go up to $150). Now, I know more MP the better, but MP isn't exactly what makes a camera good. Any suggestions, what with Best buy and Circuit City's ads released now?
  4. Well I'd like to add two more cents by regretfully saying that Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been delayed to February 10th, 2008. You can get more info at www.smashbros.com Again this would make a great game for most any child. Even those who are 17, 18, 19, or 20. A preorder for this game might make a nice Christmas gift.
  5. To be quite fair it actually depends on what version of the PlayStation 3 you get. The current 60gig version should play most PS1 and PS2 games however to quote wikipedia "In order to reduce manufacturing costs, the Emotion Engine (EE) is not included in European and South Korean systems. The new 80 GB model released in North America also lacks hardware support for legacy titles. Software emulation is used in place of hardware support and as a result, backward compatibility for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games is reduced.[94] Backward compatibility is improved periodically through PlayStation 3 System Software updates, however Sony has stated that its focus will eventually shift to developing content exclusively for the PS3." Basically with the newer versions of the PS3 there isn't as much of a guarantee that all your old games will play. I hope this helped.
  6. Well I'd like to provide you all with an update... Super Smash Brothers Brawl which is to be released December 3rd has officially been confirmed to have Online Wi-Fi play. Here's my proof, Wi-Fi Play I can almost bet anyone that their children, like quilliam's oldest will love this game. As I said before this game will be one of Nintendo's best. Also I might add that gamestop / ebgames's website is running a guarantee right now that if you preorder Super Smash Brothers Brawl and choose one-day shipping, they guarantee that the game will arrive at your door on December 3rd or they'll refund you the shipping charges.
  7. Well, That's an interesting question. I could say that Brands like Dell and HP are good (I won't speak on their customer service as I don't own either a Dell or an HP. I can only go by what I've heard). As for a "best" buy, it really depends what you want to use the computer for and what your budget is. The major question in what you use it for is if you would want to do any high end computer gaming or not? If you can give me a rough idea on what you're willing spend and it's intend use I can give you a better answer, :)
  8. Well I'll jump in this thread as I myself have a Wii (and I'm 19 (20 in November) by the way) I can say out of all three consoles: The wii, Xbox360 and the PS3 is the funnest. Don't get me wrong I love all three and wouldn't mind owning them, but I went with a wii because of it's price and it's fun value not the graphics, but then to be quite the graphics pretty darn impressive even though they don't stack up against the other two. As for accessories. I don't think you'll really need an SD card, I have one and really don't use. I only got it because CC had a 1GB model for $2.99 on BF. To be safe I say get Wiimote and a Nunchuk. However you can do as others suggested, get Wii Play which comes with a Wiimote then all you need is to buy a Nunchuk separately. I've found that with the bundled Wii Sports that unless the whole family wants to all play tennis at the same time you really needn't more then two wiimotes and nunchuks. Now you do not need any classic controllers, because if you have a gamecube controller that will be sufficient for any and all Virtual Console games you may want to buy. Now as for games, there's plenty out and plenty coming out. Right now the big games I would suggest are: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - You're oldest would love this game. Excite Truck - It'll take a few tries to fully understand all the controllers and know what you're doing, but once you nail that down you're kids will love this game. WarioWare: Smooth Moves - I wouldn't say this was my favorite game (considering you have to complete the single player component first before you can do multiplayer) but the critics love this game and I think it's quite fun. Your children and you would enjoy this game. Super Paper Mario - As others said you're oldest might enjoy this a little more. I won't say it's Nintendo's best game to buy right now, but it's quite fun nonetheless. Mario Party 8 - If one game needed to give you a reason to buy 4 Wiimotes, this game is it. I've played Mario party 1, 2, 3, 4 very heavily when they came out and I still do (somewhat). I've never played 5, 6, & 7 and I've heard mixed reviews on those. I've read mixed reviews on Mario Party 8 as well, but I can honestly say despite the reviews I felt this was a great edition to the series and you're children would love it. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - This is quite possibly the best game out there right now. It has amazing visuals, and the gameplay and controllers are amazing and very simple to work with (and no that fact is not a con in any way) You're oldest will most definitely love this game, especially if he's played the first two Metroid Primes! Now that's all for what's out now. As for what's coming up (I'll give you a brief on the big titles as you can check out websites like Ign.com or gamespot.com to get a better look at what's coming) On, November 12th, Super Mario Galaxy comes out and I can say this will more then likely be the best Mario game to date. Your children will definitely enjoy this game, no doubt! On December 3rd, quite possibly one of the biggest games in Nintendo history will be coming out: Super Smash Brothers Brawl - You're oldest will definitely I mean definitely, hopefully, love this game! This game is the number one game I want this holiday season. You can get loads of info at Smashbros.com. This game hasn't be confirmed to have Wi-Fi yet, but if I know Nintendo I'm fairly confident it will, but don't hold me to that. Now one other game coming out in the Spring of 2008 is Mario Kart for the Wii. The game will come with a Steering Wheel casing for your Wiimote to fit in (yes this means more then likely you'd have to buy extra steering wheels so all participants can get the full enjoyment out of this great game). I can tell you right now that this game is confirmed to have Online Wi-Fi Multiplayer, which will include battle mode and up to at least 8 characters but the rumors are there will be 16. This will be one amazing game (I hope) I positive your children will love this game. Also one more thing on the side note of accessories. If you have an HDTV make sure you definitely get some Wii Component Cables. I recommend the officials from Nintendo because they're not that expensive if you look around and plus it comes with the Nintendo Quality Seal of Approval so you know they have to be good. Well I can I am fairly update to on everything that goes down with the wii, and if you have any questions just ask. Also if you want more details about the Wii Fit (No I can't tell when it comes out as that info hasn't been released yet) you can go to gametrailers.com. That site features tons of Standard Definition and High Definition videos of games coming out as well stuff such as developers conferences and such. Forgive my lengthy reply but I felt like I was due for one, heh.
  9. Hey I thought I would let everyone know that Target, Best Buy and Circuit City will be having Wiis this sunday, the 21st. Conformation of this fact comes from http://gonintendo.com/?p=11825 I know I already have a Wii but my cousin does not so I shall probably be standing out in line with him to get one.
  10. Hey I thought I'd help everyone out on here. (Apologies if this has already been mentioned) I ordered an extra controller off of Nintendo.com this past saturday and it arrived by Wednesday. Now that's not the help I'm talking about, check this out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16878190051 Wiimote @ Newegg and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16878190052 Nunchuk @ Newegg I cannot say the price is necessarily good, however I will say if you are looking for a controller here's on more place you can find one. Word of caution though the website says their OEM, yet the pictures show the controllers in their standard packaging. So there you go.
  11. Well I will keep everything in mind that you are all saying, but I do have a few quick questions. 1. Would it be at all possible to connect a wireless router to my current wired router? What I mean is I could I take an open port from my wired router and connect an Ethernet cable from that open port to the incoming port on the wireless router. The reason I ask is because I really only need the wireless router to connect up my Nintendo Wii, and possibly a Nintendo DS or two. Plus it'd be nice to have a wireless router in case down the road if I get a laptop then I can take it anywhere I want around my house and enjoy it. 2. I believe I asked this in a previous post, but if I went to a store such as Wal-Mart or Staples on Black Friday, and wanted to price match that Netgear wireless router that Circuit City is selling, for $9.99 (After MIR), would Wal-Mart or Staples give it to me, for the price before or after the MIR. So basically could I go to Wal-Mart or Staples on Black Friday and pick up that router for $9.99, or would they charge me the $79.99 that it is before MIR? I thank you for your input, and by the way this site is amazing!,
  12. Well my question was answered, but I have a second question. I intend to ask my local retailers about their price matching policies, but tell me, on Black Friday, if I go to staples or Wal-Mart for example, and try to price match the Netgear wireless router that Circuit City is selling, would my local retailers have to give it to me for the $9.99 price or would they charge me the price before MIR?
  13. I clicked, way to go. If they keep posting stories / articles like this, we just might end up on main cnn.com page! "hmm, ddddeeeeeaaaallllllllsss!
  14. Thank you, I shall definitely keep that in mind. Hmm now, I just have to figure out where I am gonna come up with all the cash for these deals, :)
  15. I just got done look at the ads for CircuitCity and all I can say is wow! I really love the prices on the SD 1GB memory card from SanDisk, the 1GB USB Cruzer mini, and that DVD recorder (anyone got any info on that by the way, CircuitCity's website didn't tell me enough). Anyway I really liked that price on the Netgear Wireless Router. I mean I do not like the rebate, but yea, you all know what I mean, Anyway my question is does anyone know if this wireless router is any good... I can tell you this much that using the wired ports I will connect three desktop PCs to this router, with only one of the three PCs being on 24/7. Now I'll be using the wireless aspect for my new Nintendo Wii, and possibly a Nintendo DS (which I may be getting for Christmas). I've read mixed reviews about this thing and was curious about this, so anyone willing to help a fellow BFer out? On a side note can anyone tell me any information about that deal with the D-Link router and a printer. The deals says (and I quote page 20 of the ad scan, .pdf file) "Free Wireless-G D-Link router with any printer purchase. after $60 in combined purchase MIRs* Router is the DLK DI524: $59.99 Value. Sales tax not refunded. Limited Quantities. No rainchecks." What is this offer trying to tell me. How am I to get that router for free, I mean there has to be more to it then just buying a printer, because if that's the case I may just buy a printer to get a free router, then turn around and sell the printer and keep the router. Then again with what I've asked, which of the two is really better the Netgear or the D-Link? Note apologies if this is in the wrong place, and while I would love an answer to my questions feel free to talk about the deals on wireless routers, and to ask your own questions.

    Washers & Dryers

Well I've taken into consideration all that has been said, I will definitely, keep my eyes open this season. I know my mom could really use a washer / dryer combo, because it'd save us from having to use our precious gas to drive to the laundromat, plus it'd save us from have to pay to use the machines, the only we'd have to really pay would be a water bill, but in the long run it pays. The major brands I'll look at will probably Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and Kenmore. Lastly thank you all for your input, however I do have a two quick questions. I've never bought big appliances such as a washer / dryer combo on Black Friday, let alone any day, so, how's this done, (sorry if this sounds stupid), but do I just ask an associate for help.. can I expect any troubles considering it'd be Black Friday? Second question.. I can and will look some of this up on my own, but I thought if any of you had any input on what makes a washer / dryer you could let me know, like what's a good capacity, are there certain features or whatever to look out for? That's for now, again, thank you for your input! P.S. Every second gone by is one second closer to Black Friday, hmm maybe they should post a real-time countdown on the main page, hehe

    Washers & Dryers

Well that didn't tell me exactly what I was looking for, but it does help nonetheless so thank you.

    Washers & Dryers

Well, thank you NeepNeep for the info. From I can gather, as much as my mom would like a front loading washer, she might have to live with a top loading washer, for now. But since you have the ad from last year, quick question, does the ad say what the capacities of that washer /dryer combo were for $499

    Washers & Dryers

Well I thank you for your input. I was looking at the specials for last year, I noticed that Best Buy had a good price on a frigidaire washer and dryer combo, but I don't know if the washer a front-end loading one or not, but oh well. I will keep my eyes open.

    Washers & Dryers

Well I shall definitely keep Lowe's in mind but when you mention them are you saying on average they have the best prices or just on black friday do they have the best prices? Just as a side question, what city are you from Marcster, because I technically live in southeastern PA as well

    Washers & Dryers

Hey a fellow BF Shopper here, I got my first taste of what it was like to be a true BFer last year, and I am sooo looking forward to it this year. I'm looking for a laptop, and perhaps they'll have a Nintendo DS on sale this year. Anyways that's all besides the point My family and I recently moved to a new house, where we can finally have a washer and dryer put in, and I was curious, if any of you know if there are ever any really good BF specials on washers and dryers? If it helps, between my brother and his wife, my sister, and myself, we'd like to get the washer and dryer together, and what I mean by together is like so they match. Also, if possible, we'd prefer if we could get a good deal on a front-loading washer. So any help you can provide would be nice, and appreciated. I can't wait for the ads to come out!!!
  22. Well, ok, I got the hint, run like hell or run as if ya got a pit bull chasing your arse. Now I've a side question. If the best buy that I am going to is doing this ticket thing, do I absolutely need a ticket to get the computer or what, I mean can I still get one without the ticket?
  23. Excuse first of all if this question sounds noobish, but this'll be my first year really getting into the hype of BF. Ok my plan is that CompUSA opens up at 11:59 P.M. on Thanksgiving Day, I figured I'd hit that pick up a dvd recorder and some blank dvd+rw discs, then from there head 3 minutes up the road to stand in line, at Best Buy until they open to get my brother one of these computers they are selling for ~ $150 Then from there head over to target and hopefully get one of those lexmarks printers for ~ $17 (By the way does anyone know if this comes with a color and black ink cartridge or just a color or just a black?) and the complete sixth season of the simpsons if I can Then from there go home Now I can be fast when I want to be so my question is, will it be a problem if I run through CompUSA and BestBuy to get what I want and get out of there. I mean are they gonna make me walk to get what I want or can I just go all out and run, haha?

    Blank DVD Deals?

Well ok, I understand that now, but is that 20-pack for 44.98 any good though, I mean I saw they were 4x, but like I didn't much about the brand, if I'd have to worry about coasters or skipping or anything like that?

    Blank DVD Deals?

Well I'm here with my second post to ask what probably is a stupid question, but with a DVD+/-R disk is it just you can only record to it once and not be able edit it, record to it once and be able edit it, record to it many times until it is filled, and not be able edit it, or record to it many times until it is filled, and be able to edit, just fill me in here, please!
