Fair warning to you and perhaps anyone else interested in the Wii for $99. Up until a few weeks ago all Nintendo Wiis had the ability to play Nintendo Gamecube games as well as work with Nintendo Gamecube controllers. Ever since October 23rd all newly manufactured Wiis no longer support Gamecube games and accessories. So it is very likely that this $99 Wii will not support Gamecube games and accessories. For most this may not be much an issue, but some people already have a nice collection of Gamecube games that or they prefer a Gamecube controller to use in games like the Super Smash Bros. series or the Mario Kart series mainly because the Gamecube controller looks and feels most like other controllers from other consoles like the PS3 controller or the Xbox 360 controller. If you don't have a library of Gamecube games or intend this for younger children for whom have never really experienced the Gamecube, then this $99 Wii would be great. On a different note though, to anyone getting a Wii for the first time, if you have an HDTV then I highly recommend you get a set of component cables for the Wii as, although it won't be true HD like you would find with the PS3 or Xbox 360, but the cables would help make your games look better than with the cables provided. Most all stores sell these cables at around $20 to $25 but if you're not immune to online shopping I might check out Amazon.com or Monoprice.com as either place is assured to give you a much better price on a set of these cables over what most retail stores will charge you. If you have any questions or comments, let me know. EDIT - I noticed something interesting, so TAKE NOTE: That Wii console for $99 appears to be just that, the console. Every "bundle" up until this point has included some game with it (the latest bundle, being a console without Gamecube support, includes New Super Mario Bros.) but this $99 Wii doesn't specifically say that it includes a game. So you will want to exercise caution and not automatically assume that $99 deal includes a game, unlike how every other Wii offering before this has. So basically if my thinking is correct on this one, then that makes this offering just a little less sweet as you would then have to purchase a game to go with it.

I noticed something really interesting. In the ads from years past in the games section they would always say that there was more titles available at the selected prices. However in this years ad it doesn't say that anywhere. It would seem that only the titles shown are truly the only ones they'll have available.
-
Thank you, the new version is much clearer and should easily clear up some confusion that others may be having!

To add to what everyone else was saying, this is an amazing deal. I mean first of all you pay $299 for that bundle right now and that's without a $50 GC. As others have said yes this includes the game Kinect Adventures which is a fun game that shows you what the Kinect is all about. If anyone is considering a 360 this year I would easily and wholeheartedly recommend this very bundle. This isn't one I would pass up. Oh and unless you intend to download a ton of games off the Xbox Live Arcade then 4GB will be plenty and even if you do run into trouble the Xbox 360 recently had an update that allows it to work with flash drives up to 16GB so if you run out of space you could always just grab one of those.

Must be referring to the $199.96 console bundle which includes the 4GB console, the Kinect and a $50 WM GC.

PS3 Slim for $199.96 w/ two free games: Can you say win! Microsoft Xbox Kinect for $99.96: Can you say win again! Plus there is a number of movies and games I see. So my old 80GB PS3 died on me (YLOD). I will attempt to repair it myself. If all goes well I'll get a slim on BF, trade in/sell my old one and use that profit to get a kinect, so yes. I'm liking this Wal-Mart ad and thank you for the .pdf scan!

You know with everyone distracted by the webcast and the impending release of the WM ad, perhaps now's a good time to let the Target ad slip, . I'd imagine we'd be some of the only few to notice. I mean I could see it now, everyone comes back at 12:05AM after ranting and raving about the WM ad and to their surprise would be like, "what the..." how long has this ad been here,
-
I think if this were to be a true practice run, BigJimSlade should have to do the webcast live from tent city outside of Best Buy, which by the way would've been setup by late Sunday night/early Monday morning,

Now here's a good question, how quickly will this facebook preview be converted to a .pdf and uploaded here for all the non-facebook users (if Wal-Mart's legal department would even approve of this, )? I know my folks will want to see this but they don't have a facebook account, so a nice .pdf to share with them would be good.

Well I must throw my two cents in here and say that this 10pm/12am business could be real bad for Wal-Mart. See from what I've come to gather is that stores will match most everything except the doorbusters because the doorbusters are usually store specific models that can't be price matched, think laptops and such. See my point here is the main reason you would go to Wal-Mart is for the doorbusters because techinically everything else could be gotten from other stores with a price match so then if Wal-Mart has their doorbusters at 10pm, then come midnight, what reason do you have to want to stick around in at Wal-Mart when you can instead go to another store like Target or Best Buy. However if the doorbusters are midnight, then they have you. Come in at 10pm to get movies and clothes and such all dirt cheap, then stick around an hour or two and get the great deal on that laptop or TV or whatever. I hope Wal-Mart has though this all through, but if they are doing doorbusters at 10pm, then like I said they may be shooting themselves in the foot here.

Ok, two questions. One in the available online only 3 page bonus section, they have 24ct. boxes of crayons 4 for a $1. The same section also states that the sale is good Friday and Saturday. Question is is this sale only good until 1pm on Saturday or good all day? I ask because this is a great deal and would be perfect for the shoe boxes my local church does, but I nor my folks would be able to get to a Toys'R'Us before 1PM on Saturday. Now, the second question then, if the Toys'R'Us sale isn't good all day would there then be any way to get Target or Wal-Mart to price match this offer (because one of these two stores we could get to before 1PM)? I ask this because normally these stores will match print ads, but this isn't a print ad, it's an ad good in stores but only viewable online. Oh and my apologies if some of my question is in the wrong place.

Best Buy to Greet Black Friday Shoppers with Historic Midnight Store Opening
DaFees replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2011
Well it was only a matter of time. I suppose this means now that everyone will have to line up 5 hours earlier as a result. @Bigjimslade, I'd imagine this news means then that tent city will be starting earlier this year, assuming there's deals good enough to warrant this of course. -
Great that we have this much so far, but I'm more interested in the electronics and the appliances. Sears to me seems notorious for having the BIG deal on a washer/dryer combo. Hopefully the full ad will come soon with electronics as that will help everyone then gauge what other stores like WalMart and Best Buy might be doing in terms of pricing on TVs and such.

To simplify matters, here is a direct link to a .pdf version of the whole ad, http://www.sears.com/ue/home/103011_FF_AllSavings-2.pdf Enjoy!

Thanks for the pdf ad-scan. Much like last year's GBTB and it's deals with Toy Story 3 and I'm loving and looking forward to this year's deals on Cars 2. I've two copies of Cars 2 3D Blu on pre-order so that should get me two wall clocks and easily get me a $10 GC. Plus if, the speculations are true and I spend a total of $75 I can net another $10 savings. EDIT - The $10 GC with $40 Disney movie purchase and the free wall clock offers are on page 76 of the pdf of the GBTB. Also Cars 2 at TRU includes an extra bonus disc, be it DVD or Blu-ray though I don't know. Also on page 59 it states that if you make ANY CARS purchase (which it doesn't say the new Cars 2 movie doesn't apply) of $40 or more you get a free Cars 2 Holiday Vehicle 2-Pack valued at $12.99. Also it doesn't say anywhere (just like last year) that you can't combine offers. So if you were to get two copies of Cars 2 you'd 2 wall clocks, that vehicle pack, a free $10 GC and if you get the movie on Blu-ray you'll get a bonus disc as well. Definitely a nice score. Yes it is definitely the time of the season and I can't wait for more ads to come about.

So as to avoid any after the fact realizations that I some how screwed I just want to ask on here to be absolutely sure, but can anyone confirm that the $69 Blu-Ray player @ Wal-Mart has netflix support? I know it has support for Wal-Mart's proprietary service, Vudu, but I want to be sure on Netflix. I actually looked @ the user manual for it, but found nothing helpful there. Oh and if that one does not have Netflix support, then could some please tell me the next cheapest Blu-Ray player that does? P.S. Happy Thanksgiving and Soon to be Black Friday!

I have a question, but forgive me if this is in the wrong place (I don't think a dedicated thread is necessary and I don't think posing this question under the thread of the ad for which this question applies would receive enough attention). Does anyone have a good idea of how early I would have to line up @ OfficeMax in order to get the $499.99 i5 Acer laptop (understanding of course that the store doesn't open until 7am (unless I am mistaken on this one))?
-
question, I've done some searching and I am wondering: Is the Core i5 ACER Laptop from Office Max the BEST laptop available FOR $499.99. I mean I know BB has an HP for the same price but that is an i3. I also know Staples has an i3, but that has a smaller hard drive. I also know Office Depot has an i3 for the same price, but again smaller hard drive.

Funny my store did the same thing (except I think we had 15 minutes, but I could believe either number), and I'm from PA as well.
-
I love this, I figured I had about a 1 in 4 chance, but I didn't think I would win. Now I can represent this amazing website whilst I wait in line on Black Friday. Hopefully I am first in line that way I can tell everyone behind me, that because of this site, that's why I'm first, :) Oh, and thank you by the way. I can't wait for my shirt or Black Friday to arrive.

Ok I had a bit of an interesting experience last year that makes me raise a question about this year. Last year I stood in line for somebody to get them a laptop (they didn't want to fight the crowds and headaches, and since I wasn't doing it for nothing, I did not mind doing so). What was interesting I got in line and then at around 2am an associate came through the line and handed everyone tickets for the laptop that they wanted, but here was the catch: even though we all had our tickets we had to remain in line and if we needed to go to the bathroom we had to get a pass and if we took too long we could risk losing our ticket. Now there was associates at the front of the line strictly enforcing this rule, but I was near the back of the line and the associate checking the back of the line was super nice and let us slip down an aisle to grab any items that were not our ticketed item. This associate and all of us in that part of the line felt it was better for the store anyways, because by letting us get our things ahead of time it enabled us then to spend more of our money in the store and prevent chaos come 5am. My question is this though: This year (I will probably be in line at Wal-Mart again) I noticed they will be having deals on video games and blu-rays that according to the ad (at least how I take it) go on sale at midnight, per the term on sale ALL day. My concern is if my store acts the same this year as the did last year, how can I expect to score some of these deals (yes there is movies and games I want, plus with over 60 blu-ray titles @ $5 each I will want to do a little quick browsing in case there is any hidden gems)? Also I should mention that last year the $10 blu-rays last year were not put out until about 3:30 and at that point everyone was being told even though they were openly on display you could look, but not take. It wasn't until a little later around 4am when people just wouldn't listen that they said ok, you can take them. Overall though I did feel that Wal-Mart was not as chaotic compared to some of the horror stories I've heard (and I won't even count the death in 2008) about of years past. I still say though that Best Buy is one of the most organized stores, and even though the waiting outside can get a little rough at times, I still feel they handle things very well.
-
I will field this one from my experiences last year @ WalMart. It mainly depends where you live. If you live in a big city with a large population then you may need to line up @ midnight or even sooner than that, but if you live in a small town, a rural town, or just some place nobody has ever heard of, then perhaps lining up @ midnight should be fine. Oh and one other thing to keep in mind: The cheaper the laptop the sooner you should consider lining up.

Ok, I wanted to chime in for a second. I have a Wii and I have the Guitar Hero World Tour Band Kit. I also have the games, Rock Band 2, Rock Band 3, The Beatles Rock Band, Green Day: Rock Band, and a bunch of the Guitar Hero games and I can safely say that my Les Paul (GH3) and the guitar from the world tour band kit are all fully compatible with every game.

Ok, I gotta ask in case anybody would know, but I remember (and I just checked) that in last year's Wal-Mart ad they specifically stated that they would match any local competitors' ad. It doesn't say that this year in their ad, but I got to know if they will be doing so again this year. I ask because by the looks of things I may be in line @ Wal-Mart this year and I've noticed other stores having a few movie deals here and there that may be wroth a PM.
