  1. I've read all the reviews from Walmart, Amazon, and other places that I found online. I still think that for us the Nabi will work best. I am planning on buying a converter for our car (the kind that turns your cigarette lighter into a regular plug) so we can use the Nabi, her DS, our cell phones, and anything else without having a hundred different car chargers..lol. Most of the reviews that I read said that the Nabi is pretty quick. I also love the fact that you can use a memory card. This is one of the main reasons we are choosing the Nabi. I've heard alot of great things about the Fire also though. It has been a hard choice. I would love to get the Fire HD for myself...lol.
  2. My daughter will be 6 and we are getting her the Nabi 2 for Christmas. It has tons of free apps, music, and games pre-installed. You can also add the Amazon app and download from their website. They have tons of free apps available. I have spent about a month reviewing all kinds of tablets and really think that the Nabi 2 will be best for us. I did read that the Fire is coming out with a mode for kids, but it still does not include the nice bumper that the Nabi has. You can buy one but you would probably end up spending about the same. I have read tons of reviews for the Nabi and for the most part it got really good reviews.
  3. THanks..We ended up putting them a smartphone each on layaway. This is what they kept saying that they wanted the most.. I am going to get my daughter the Nabi2 from Amazon though since I would have until Jan. 31..
  4. Well, Alabama weather is always so hard to predict...lol. I am going to predict that it will be cooler this year than it usually is.
  5. Took the survery. Very cool!
  6. Oh yes, I will definitely call ahead first. I am not sure if they will or not, but I really doubt that the Nabi 2 will go on sale. The other thing I am putting on layaway are things that I am afraid will be sold out such as Lalaloopsy stuff and Hello Kitty things for my daughter.
  7. I am going a little later today. We will see how it goes. Our Walmart is usually the last to know anything...lol. I remember the first year that they the Saturday SEcrest Sales. There were about 5 of us in line and a bunch of the employees kept asking us what we were doing..lol. They had no clue. Even the manager had to call and figure out what they were supposed to be doing. We've got a different manager now though and he seems to be more up to date on things.. I will actually be doing two layaways. OUr local store doesn't carry the Nabi 2 Tablet that I want to put on layaway, but one about an hour from us does, so we are going there to put it on layaway.
  8. yeah, I realized this after I made the post...lol. They had the basic e-reader in stock though (I'm sure it was an older model).
  9. They are 14. Their main focus is web browser, youtube, and music..They keep saying that they want something smaller as well so we may end up going with the ipod touch. I just hate paying that much for something so small...lol.
  10. When I looked on Amazon's site it says you only have 30 days from purchase date. Will they have a special holiday return policy that allows until January 31? The boys have also mentioned an Ipod touch or Galaxy Tab2..I am so confused right now..lol. They are not big gamers. They really only want one to access the web (esp. FB), youtube, and music. Of the three which do you think would work best?
  11. Thank you...I may go ahead and do that then... Which the boys are old enough that even if they are gone they could wait until there were more or choose a different tablet.
  12. Thanks..I am still so unsure what I want to do. The Nabi2 is nice for kids but it is 200.00 plus tax if I put it on layaway at Walmart and I would only have 2 weeks to take it back, so that is only a few days after Christmas. I've heard several others say that they pre-order one of the more expensive kindles (amazon) and use gift cards to put towards it, then cancel and their balance goes back into their amazon account. Do you think I will actually be able to get a cheaper version around mid-end November? I am just so concerned about it being gone before I can get one...
  13. Thank you so much! I may go ahead and pre-order the more expensive kindle. That way I will have longer to pay on it. Then, if I see they have a better deal, I can use the money that I have put towards the kindle for another gift from amazon...I already have 25.00 worth of gift cards to Amazon..
  14. I do like the fact that you have until January 31 to return. If we decide to go with the Kindle then i will more than likely get it from Amazon after reading everyone's comments.
  15. So if you were buying for a teen would you go with the Fire or another tablet. I need to stay under the 250.00 mark, preferably less so I can get them both one... I am just not sure what are decent brands are what are not.. Thanks.
  16. Thank you so much. The new Fire is going to ship the 14th of this month and the HD version (7") is going to ship the 24th this month unless I get the 250.00 version...I am just not sure if I can come up with that amount of money by then.....but I guess I could cancel if I needed to. I have never bought anything big from Amazon and didn't realize that you could do this. I will definitely try to use this in the future.. How would the Fire compare to a Samsung Galaxy (the one with Android 4.0)?
  17. ok..now my boys are saying that they may want a tablet. They are older (14) so I am really looking into the Kindle Fire since this seems to be such a popular option. I see that with the newer Kindle Fire (not HD) you can access facebook..Can you access Facebook on the older model as well? I would love to be able to get them one each. I am pretty sure that Amazon/Walmart will have some bundle deals BF or the weeks before/after on the older model. This would allow me to be able to get them one each...
  18. I went to our local Walmart yesterday and I did see thta they had one Kindle in...lol. We are a small store compared to most. Maybe they just don't order very many at a time...
  19. yep!!! We have that thread every year...lol.
  20. I had a Samsung camera that went out after 2 months!!! My kids had accidentally thrown away my receipt so I lost 100 bucks! I also do not buy anything Samsung!
  21. Can someone who is tablet tech savy compare the nabi 2 and this new tablet from TRU for me and tell me what you think. I don't understand any of this "tablet talk"..lol..Thanks
  22. I saw this earlier on their facebook page. I started reading the comments and several people said that their specs do not even compare with the nabi2. But, I will definitely be doing some research on it.. It is 50.00 less than the Nabi2 but the closest toyrus to us is 2 hours away and I am planning on putting the electronics on layaway..
  23. I will be putting a basketball goal for my boys on layaway Friday. I will also be putting the NAbi 2 on layaway for my daughter. If I see something else that any of them want that I know will not go on sale or will be hard to get I will go ahead and pick it up or put it on layaway..
  24. Our Walmart does not carry Kindle at all. I tried to look it up on Walmarts website to see which stores around us carry them, but Kindle never came up in the search. Do they still carry them?
  25. We kind of do like you for Christmas as well. They usually get one big gift and then we buy the rest according to how much that big gift was. We usually try to set a budget instead of # of items. That is a great idea. I try to start early, but it always seems like something comes up and we don't have the money...My kids' birthdays are kind of spread out. The boys are in March and my daughter's is in October. So I am usually able to buy alot of my daughter's bday gifts in the toy clearances after Christmas and in July. The boys are older (14) so we usually just give them money or gift cards to clothing stores now for their bday. I am determined that next year I am going to set aside a certain amount of money each month for bday/christmas gifts. If I have a money set aside then when things go on sale I know that someone would like, I can get it without trying to dig into our other budget..lol.
