skip the ddr667, go for ddr800 while you are at it. another place or 2 to look is www.clubit.com and www.geeks.com both pretty good, and one running a 2gb set for $30 this week or last.
-
Well, cover page of Office depot ad is one for $449, is resonably good for that price range, CC has same one for $30 more. It is a compaq 730.

I really need to make sure I go through here for newegg...Bought 3 things in the last 2 months from them, love them.

Take multiple people, both ask for ticket for item you want multiple of.

This is exactly what I said. More bang for exactly same buck = AMD for these average folk and both will take care of them. 95% of them will not use the difference between a 5000+ a 6000+, let alone a 5000+ and a Q6850. Most programs, let alone people's average use can take advantage of most dual core or even now quad core offerings.
-
Depends on what that software is. What EXACTLY do you REALLY want to have on your new computer. Give as much detail on the program as possible (i.e. Photoshop LE version 6.5.1) Most can be looked up and will tell you if they will work 100%, will need a small update, or wont work at all.

Looking for a good deal on a high-end desktop
nirvana4all replied to syamnew's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
The 4gb of ram is based on the operating system. If you buy a PC able to handle a 64 bit OS (say a athlon 64) you can install the 64 bit version of windows vista or XP and it can handle up to 32 GB of ram in most motherboards. With 32 bit versions of windows, the PC can't quite use all of 4gb of ram. -

For those who ask why I keep using the m8200n often it is becasue I keep seeing it on deals, it is a solid machine from a sold company with top of the line internals unless you plan on overclocking that has room to put a great video card in. I have gotten 2 now for family at $659 at compusa and they could not be more estatic. -

Very few quad cores out right now, you will pay a MASSIVE mark-up on them as well. if you get say the M8200n from office depot this week ($699) added the 8800 GT OC video card from Compusa ($250 in their ad) you would have the fastest dual core with a motherboard that will take the quad cores for the next 2 years so you could upgrade when the price on them were more reasonable. None of you intel options are going to give you this as they will be changing motherboard sockets. AMD has promised that the next few sets of processors will all fit in the current AM2 motherboards and work. For the exact same machine in quad core as the m8200n, you are looking at the http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8542179&type=product&id=1188559785167 for about $500 more and a quick glance shows the only difference is dual core to quad core, a built in wifi and 100gb more HD space. Not to tell you what to do, but there is a huge price markup on quad-core machines right now, you would be better off even buying a dual core with all the specs you wanted and then going online and buying a quad core: such as an AMD 9500 for $265 and then selling your old dual core. Your best bet IMHO is to buy all the other components that will make you happy and if you really want quad core, buy a dual core, wait 1-2 months for the price premium to break, then buy your quad core. My phenom quad core is coming as my christmas present and will be just dropped in my current motherboard. -
Go to office Depot, compaq f730 stock 598725 is that what you wanted?
-
An AMD Athlon, Turion or an Intel Core Duo will all treat you just fine. Often you will get the same level of performance for just a little cheaper buying AMD. Any of the three though will take care of the above average user, let alone the average user. Differnece is just the same as Nike and Addidas. Both work just fine, Nike just advertises and marks up more in MOST cases.

You normally want to use the external hard drive for things that you dont need to have real quick access (pictures, songs, etc) and to install games on your hard drive. That being said, Sims is not a "hardcore" game that is super-taxing, and putting that game on the external drive to free up space should not be a problem. If it is for any other reason than to free up space, putting it external vs internal does not make a difference. My external is a 500gb. Half is a backup image of my internal, the other half is pictures, songs, etc that if I lose I would be sad, but that is it.

The 20/21 widescreens from samsung are good, got my 20/21" widescreen last BF for that price, and it still serves me awesome.

no prob. You will need to tell me/us what the maker and model of the black box is and if it has any antanae sticking out of it. This will tell us if it has wireless abilities. If it does, you dont need a router. See ya tomorrow.
-
Okay, does this plug right into the back of your computer after it comes out of the wall, or does it plug into some type of box first?
-
You will get new ads tomorrow morning in the paper, check BB, CC, OD & staples and you will likely see some, ask us about them and we will give better answers and it will be on ones you can get right away at that price. $399 is BF only.

click the link I provieded and get the description right from microsoft itself. as far as router, do you have dsl or cable internet at home?
-
You dont need to run aero, it is a new "pretty picture" option on your desktop that only microsoft vista has. It is nice though, but of no real need or use. Sony is no better a PC really than HP, so look at the options of each individual computer. Onboard graphics means that it is built right in to the main hardware of the laptop, and without fail means it is slower, less able than a discrete, or added in graphics card. YOu could probably buy each of these right now, but not at this exact savings. Aero: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/experiences/aero.mspx

I have to agree w/ the HP over the sony statement for the reasons mack gave. Have not looked over the laptops and ads well enough to say mote than that at the moment.

What do you think the BIGGEST deal will be this year?

I have some ideas what you could do with the pots and pans, just visualize :fryingpan -
:2bat: Elbows to the ribs tend to slow them somewhat, so does a knee to the crotch, but that is a lot more personal, risky and harder to correctly perform.

It is to turkey like duck is to chicken IMHO.
