Dolt... That may be why I have never heard of them. I dont know any military, and it is an hour to the closest base. Sorry, hopefully this clears it up for anyone else as uninformed as I was.
  2. Selling the item is different in my mind because you have to risk your own money on the fact that someone else may not pay any markup. Risk & reward. Scalping is taking no risk, if your ticket does not earn you money you are out nothing.
  3. I have thought about this a lot, and I figured out that the places I went to last year, and the places I will likely go to again this year have not leaked yet. So therefore, I probably feel these suck because there is so little that interests me in them. I was hoping officemax was going to be different, but it had minimal door-busters, and even those seemed only about $10-$30 off normal low prices. I may be spoiled, but I want the equivilant of some of the deals of last year. (i.e. 21" wide screen LCD computer monitor for $179 when it was normally about $339), so this is not doing it for me yet.
  4. So far, very let down by all that are out so far EXCEPT sears. It was a little better than what I expected from sears. Wanna see WM, OD, BB, CC & compusa.
  5. i agree that the above deal isnt bad, but for the same $ (549 in this case), you can get just a bit more: Toshiba's A215-s7422 at OD. It has a faster processor, 40gb more HD, a 15.4" screen. To do it with only $50 in MIR, CC has the DV6605US HP with a slightly faster processor than the walmart deal with 40gb more HD and again a 15.4" screen all for $569. The real non-MIR is at BB with the T-1616 8543506 at $599 with 40GB more HD space and I believe a faster processor. In this case however, I am unsure if it comes with built in wifi. Put together, I would go for the first deal I mentioned IF you were to buy at a brick and mortar right now.

I dont think we have an px or bx stores around here, haven't seen them. Must be like a Fry's, just in one area.
  7. I normally pick out items starting end of october and then try to pick people off my christmas list. This year I have my DD mostly taken care of (TRU), and will probably take care of 75% of my list by the end of BF (if all goes well). After that is pick and hunt for something for the hard people. I try to get a few things throughout the year, but they are not the main gifts.
  8. It has gotten better since Sears bought them out.
  9. You can uninstall, you will likely need an XP install cd, and there MAY be a part or two that you will have to search long and hard for xp drivers for. Please see the Tech forum on this board for many similar threads: http://forums.gottadeal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16
  10. help help, I've been Oh, not to worry, they just stole my log in and Credit card info!!
  11. I dont have any deals for ya, but I wanted to give my long term review. I have a Palm T/X now for almost a year. It does everything I want it to: wifi, bluetooth, music, video, pictures, documents, calculations, and dates/scheduling real easy. I have not had a problem at all with it. I got it for $179 on ebay new. Good luck to ya.
  12. I got the Little tikes cook interactive kitchen at TRU, used the $10 off $100 (bought it and another food kit that works with it), the $10 giftcard on over $75 and the 10% off if you get a new TRU credit card. The kitchen itself was $89 before any other savings in the Big Book and so in all it was really pretty cheap and I still have a $10 TRU gift card that I just spent.
  13. Consumer reports just listed the tom tom one ($300) the Magellan Roadmate 2000 ($250) and the Garmin Street Pilot c330 ($300) as their best buys for chirstmas in portable gps were any of these in the sears ad?
  14. Probably would use this to buy anything I need from COMPUSA if they have good deals w/ cheap or free shipping on website as the closest one is 30 min from all the other stores around here-on a regular day. Oh yeah, and to keep up to date with this web site througth the night.
  15. apparently it is laptops, not desktops however if you follow the post and read count of this thread vs the laptop one for this year so far.
  16. I admit I dont budget for it, I get 3 checks (instead of 2) in november, and almost all of that ends up getting spent between BF and christmas.
  17. Brad : thanks again Old Navy: I am underwhelmed, try harder.
  18. Ok, must be my area then. Last year there was no one at OD with anything above a psp, and because of only 100 people in line at staples, no laptops or other cool stuff. That is why I figured that most stores probably did not have wifi or someone would have probably brought their laptops. Thanks for the input peoples.
  19. You just use the one time only paypal credit card numbers and such. Jeez guys. Besides, I am likely to be the ony guy out there at the store with a laptop using the wifi, let alone probably the only one out there at that store who has the ability to do something like that. Possible, yes, likely, no. Besides, one thing I have only once had to take advantage of but know I have is 100% fraud coverage. They steal my card, I notice it on my bill, I report it, no charges to me. As I said though I would likely be using the one use only credit card numbers.
  20. Thanks aaron, anyone else know one way or the other about BB, CC and staples for certain?
  21. Anyone know if any of the computer stores offer unlocked wifi? I would like the option of sitting outside their store (BB, etc) in line at midnight and ordering something from WM, etc online that can only be found online. This was asked last year, but it was very close to BF and I did not see any conclusive follow-up. I want to know about OD, BB, CC & staples if anyone knows.
  22. This may just be me, I hate the self-checkout. Dont get me wrong, I am all for tech (could ya guess??), but I feel as if they are just cutting out more and more jobs that way, and there is always some sort of error whenever I do self-check out that makes me wait 2-5 minutes for the self-checkout cashier (kinda self defeating if you ask me) to fix and then allow me to finally check out. I like the personal touch, and I find my local WM cashiers are either hurried (understandably) or nice. Just my 0.02
  23. If I remember last year, there it was both BB and Staples with 20/21/22" WS monitors on sale. I went to staples (almost no line) and got the 21" for $179 If memory serves me. I hate giving away my secrets, but few of you live around me, so check some of the other retailers like OM, OD and Staples if you have only 1-2 items you really want and they may have an equal deal with a lot less line = less waiting + more chance of getting the item you want.
  24. A, B, G and N are levels of connection. A being the oldest and slowest, N being brand new and the fastest (most expensive.) Please double-check that the laptop that you are looking to hook up has a wireless N adapter. This is new, so it is rather rare, but definitely possible. After you have double checked it, then we can start looking for deals. Also: Using for gaming? How far away from the place the router will sit do you plan on having your laptop: most of the time and farthest commonly. here is a rather dense description of the different types a, b, g, n, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11
